@@TheEndKing Yes, she also refers to it in opening scene of "Lie to me". At some level she was still pissed at Angelus for massacring her family. Despite usually seeing him as her lover and 'daddy'(sire). It's really weird dynamic but that's Dru for you. I suppose its point is to really drive home how evil Angelus was, something so horrible that it echoes through Drusilla's dark and twisted mind, centuries afterwards.

@@TheEndKing Buffyverse Vampires don't care about social restraints but they still retain same identity. Because a vampire WILL care about things they have repressed(ex: the one in Helpless) as a human because of removed inhibitions. Darla, Spike, Angel, most of the ones they turned, etc, all were defined by who they were as humans, haunted by it. What makes a vampire scary or dangerous comes not from the demon part but from the human part most of the time. What makes them monsters is that they can finally act upon those things without any guilt or remorse or restraint.

thanks very much for reacting. wanted to let you know. this episode spike was originally going to be killed off. but Joss whedon the creator got a ton of letters from fans. begging him not to kill off spike. so instead of killing him. he decided to just hurt spike instead.

james marsters was broke and had an infant to take care of; when he got a role on _buffy the vampire slayer_ he was bound and determined to do whatever was necessary to make the role last. it was literally all about the money.

I always felt so bad for both Spike and Drusilla, (Spike for reasons you’ll find out later) but just think about it, Angel(Pre-Soul) Slaughtered Drusilla’s family right in front of her eyes, And traumatized her to the point of insanity, despite all of that, she wanted to be a nun, and went and joined a covenant to devote her life to God, But then was turned into a vampire, after witnessing the nuns that took her in, being slaughtered by Angel! That insanity, and the multiple horrors that caused it, was so strong it carried on into her Vampire life, making her nuts! So when I watched that torture scene between Drusilla and Angel, especially the first time, I felt like it was deserved, at least on her end, and long overdue. Being weak, probably dug up some memories and feelings for her, and got to finally come out after who knows how long. But that’s just my option on it 🤷🏼‍♀️ Looking forward to the next one! 💕💕

Totally agree, plus the fact that he then essentially abandoned her (by getting his soul and gaining a moral high ground), she never gained that but instead was left to continue to live the that way he made her in the first place. It's the reason I don't really like Angel tbh - I feel like he is let off for everything he does whereas other people who he made bad in the first place are never allowed that - although I won't go into detail for the sake of spoilers.

Actually I kinda disagree, just in regards to Dru's resentment. As a souless demon, she doesn't really care about her family, but she knows insouled Angel does. It's all true about driving her insane and how it affected her (and that was intentional for Angelus), but I don't think she has the humanity to care. Dru is obsessed with Angelus, she was thrilled when he lost his soul and went back to being daddy again. I'd also point out the fact that Angel picked up on her sexual gratification in this scene, pretty much just BDSM for a vampire haha

actually thw drictor-creator Joss Whedon thought they would kill Spike in this episode but they changed their mind and keep going with Spike. James Marsters( Spike ) changed their mind because James didn't want to Spike die. This was the most good change and I glad they did it.

The way they introduced Kendra's character was really smart, demonstrating how the events of the First Final of the Season had consequences that turned the Slayer's line upside down. The newcomer is ideally an obscure and solitary version of the protagonist, deprived of the affection of a mother, of friendship and also of the guidance of a paternal Observer like Giles, as seen from her life and always acting away from everyone, as it should to be a true Slayer. Buffy was really lucky, and knowing Kendra maybe realized, from here she wanted to become her friend, despite the continuous contrasts, aware that her colleague really needed this. The two girls have learned to collaborate, just as the title translated in my language says, the Italian, "l'unione fa la forza"/ "the union is strength", and indeed together and even with the help of the Scoobie Gang, they knew how to defeat Spike and the assassins, and now Kendra finally knows she has a true friend and is no longer alone. The bad guys, however, have not yet been defeated ..... Drusilla is back!

I'm a big shipper, especially in the Buffyverse, and was worse when I first watched. The shipping fodder runs deep here, it's among the richest shipping episodes. Cordy/Xander is a favorite of mine, so I loved their big kiss. I saw potential in them from "Welcome to the Hellmouth...," when they went toe-to-toe in snark, but the writers started dropping major hints earlier this season. And this was where I started loving the Spike/Buffy dynamic. They had chemistry since "School Hard," but their mutual fighting preference sealed the deal. There's also great text and subtext for Oz/Willow, Dru/Angel, Dru/Spike, Buffy/Angel, even Kendra/Xander.

Oh come on, Xander/Cordy is great. ;) Not healthy at all, but much more interesting to watch than Xander obsessing over Buffy and Willow pining over Xander. The unrequited love triangle between friends was my least favorite thing about season 1 and early season 2, so this episode made me so happy for taking major steps away from that, with the supercute Willow/Oz dynamic and the unhealthy but fun Xander/Cordy dynamic.

If you pay attention in previous episodes, the relationship between Cordy and Xander has been building up throughout the whole season. Not my favorite either (I don't think they were ready to make each other happy), but at the moment it feels right. Thanks for another fantastic reaction!

For me I always felt Spike saying "I'd rather be fighting you" to Buffy was a very overlooked line in the series. Spike and Kendra are foes. But Buffy and Spike are arch enemies. There's kind of a connection there. I kinda saw it when he was stalking her at the bronze first time he saw her too. He really wants to kill her lol I shipped Xander and Buffy at the time (well not shipped them but i liked when they had small romantic moments in the series) so when he got with Cordelia I was right mad at seeing that Admit it, even though it was kinda weird, shirtless David Boreanez in the show wasn't the worst thing for ya lol im glad you're going to Surprise. the next 2 episodes are kind filler

I guess we could assume that the communication wasn’t great. There’s the Gwendolyn Post situation where Giles doesn’t pay attention to a memo. Then in later seasons the council comes across as a need to know situation.

I'm begging you please do not skip episode 16 bewitched, bothered and bewildered (or some title like that) It's so funny! There will be fewer and fewer skippable episodes now (I think there's one toward the end of this season with the swim team), but honestly most of the rest of season two and pretty much all of seasons 3-7, they did away with skippable episodes. We want to see you reacting to all of them! My top three favorite seasons are 6, 4 and 5 (or 6, 5 and 4). But 3 and 2 are awesome also. 7 is great too but I never warmed up to Kennedy. Now Angel, in my opinion, other than one episode of the first nine (guest starring Spike!) you can just go right to episode 10. (Watch 9 if you want, even that is meh). Once you get to episode 10 of season one, it gets so much better. season 4 of Buffy and season 1 of angel run concurrently

Most people feel uncomfortable about Xander and Cordelia because it was played for humor. I personally prefered her over his attraction to Buffy which I never saw as a good thing considering the first words he ever said to her ("Can I have you?") made him out to be practically what Cordelia called him ("pervert") in this episode.

Lots of things that are way more unhealthy and worse than Xander/Cordy are played for humor in BtVS. So what? The entire show is like that, mixing drama and comedy all the time. Pretty much everything in it should then make people 'uncomfortable'.
