There is a not insignificant #Friley movement within the fandom, and I do see the arguments: once you realise he's secretly in love with Riley, pretty much everything about the character that has hitherto confused/annoyed you suddenly makes sense.

Some interesting parts in the The Yoko Factor, highlights are Angel and Riley acting like jilted teenagers in Buffy's room, and the smug smile Angel gives Riley when she says she needs to talk to Angel alone. Also Giles being drunk and telling Buffy 'you'll get your arse kicked'. Buffy really hurts Willow and Xander when she says 'I guess that's why there is now ancient prophecy of the chosen one and her friends' after all they have done for her, and she has done for them. Some excellent work by Spike setting all the friends against each other like a modern day Iago from Othello, there was foreshadowing for this in The Earshot episode when Buffy was reading the students mind re Othello Play. Giles playing Freebird is of course the highlight.

Love Riley's shock that oh, that's Angel when he's good. Love Buffy putting both of them in their place, sit down, the Slayer has the room. Xander needs to honestly keep his mouth closed, none of that was his information to share with Riley but he just can't help himself. Also Riley now thinks that Angel is soulless and doesn't say but assumes Buffy got physical with him.

Tara was the only one who didn't buy Spike's bs. He easily exploited their lack of communication and insecurities. Spike is right about them growing apart, there would be conflict even without him. They're already annoyed with each other, but never really addressed it. He just helped lit the fire earlier instead of letting it start naturally.

faith and spike both having such amazing gaydars that they pick up on tillow within 15 seconds of being in their presence vs. buffy and xander spending months hanging out with tara and just thinking that willow and tara are bffs is so funny to me 😂 but also buffy and xander are both very much oblivious to their own bisexuality, so it makes complete sense that they don't see it in willow either
