What's the first thing that comes to mind when YOU think of an awning? Well, this is no store-bought awning made of canvas or plastic; this is a real, custom-made, shed-roof awning built out of wood and steel from scratch.
How? It's actually quite simple! Think of how a roof is built, and how a deck is made. The characteristics of this awning fall somewhere in between. Follow along and by the end of this episode, you'll be heading for the lumber yard with visions of your own cool and functional awning!
Ok, maybe you won't rush out the door to build your own, but I think you'll like how this one turns out. Let me know if this is what you were imagining, and what you think of the Spur Cabin awning once it's complete.
Thanks for watching ‪@LifeontheMoose‬ !

In 1966 I bought my first home. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, laundry, and a finished dormer upstairs. It also had a fenced yard and two car garage in the back. I gave $10,500 for that property and I bet you’re spending that much on your place 😃

I notice more than once that while you were using the speed square to cross cut - you did not use the lip of the square closer to you to prevent having to hold the square on the far side of the cut
@LifeontheMoose
@LifeontheMoose 4 ай бұрын
Although I do both, depending on the cut, etc, I’d prefer to hold it on the far end, so I’m not applying pressure on the wood in the direction away from my hand. Much easier to hold with the force of each hand coming together…if that makes sense!

Is that the camera that makes it look like it is off center? In any case I am wondering why you didn't extend it on both sides to the soffit line for more protection to the door and to balance the look? Cabin is coming along nicely.

It is NOT centered to the building, good eye! By design, I centered it over the elements it is covering…the door and window. Thanks for watching!
