Another chapter of the My Backyard Saga... yes we went with the Owens Corning Lumber And Weardeck for this one! we even do a deflection test at 24 on center joists.
This frame will never rot or warp. This might be the perfect solution for ground contact decks or coastal projects!
Thanks for watching!

Man that lumber miters nice. I just sold my second oc lumber deck. Having a hard time matching my labor price to the material. 50% deposit needs to cover materials...I've started undercutting my labor to make the sales... asking for a 2/3 deposit. Are you doing lifetime craftsmanship?

I noticed the beams don’t fit snugly into the Pylex saddles. If I did this method, should I be worried about lateral movement of the beams in the saddles, or is the one screw you used from saddle to beam sufficient to prevent that? Thanks again!
@woodbullyltd
@woodbullyltd 2 ай бұрын
Once the ledger and joists are secured it won’t move. As but you could use a 1/2” piece of PVC fascia to fill the gap as well.

Gord size is everything, never believe the Miss's 😂 It's been years since I've seen chargers hanging from a wall and man that's just gold! Glad you're still using your multi impact to its fullest. Have you tried the power stack batteries? If you have white leads for your pica give them a go on dark colours, I'll use a white lead during the day and even my coworker is starting to come over to the dark side

Great vid! I’m considering using Pylex plies for a small DIY deck I’m planning. 1) you find them reliable? 2) is it feasible to drive them without the tool (what is it?) or would it be too difficult? Thanks!
@woodbullyltd
@woodbullyltd 2 ай бұрын
It can be done with a 2x4 it’s just tougher in clay that way. You could always rent a compressor and pneumatic 1” ratchet if it’s a one time thing.
@TheBalloonGuys
@TheBalloonGuys 2 ай бұрын
@@woodbullyltd it would be one time. Yeah I think the rental fee would definitely outweigh the time it would take to twist them into the ground manually. So it’s a 1” ratchet on that thing? Thanks. I’m looking for a solution to put footers close to my house as I’ll be doing a freestanding deck similar to yours. Thanks for responding by the way! Your vids really are both entertaining and helpful.

Amazing video thanks! Can you use this framing method/design for a deck that’s 6-feet tall off the ground? I’m in the GTA too
@woodbullyltd
@woodbullyltd 6 ай бұрын
Yes but you would need to attach the ledger to the rim of the house and maybe the foundation simultaneously
@venkatinator

Thanks. But what if my house has brick siding? Does Ontario code allow the ledger to attach to the rim joist through the brick? Or must the deck be freestanding?

Love to do this, but here in sarnia it's retarded to find hdpe/pvc boards in black. Wanted to do the same fascia bump up profile frame but it's going to be somewhere around 3000$ for a 14x4 landing deck delivered from Toronto because here all we get is light grey, dark grey, slightly lighter grey or shitpaste brown. The frame itself is 1000 ffs. Stupid. If i paid someone labor for my 14x4 I'd probably be spending 5 grand.
