I can't for the life of me understand why people want to live in an HOA! I do a lot of work in HOA neighborhoods and between what I see and what I hear from residents I don't see the benefits! You buy a house then still pay $300+ a month to the HOA for them to tell what you can and can do to your own home! That definitely isn't for me!

It really depends on when you were born and what you grew up seeing. I'm 30 but to me these and the s550 are the ugliest mustangs. I however was raised with a 65 GT350, 66 GT350, 67 GT500 and 1969 Cobra Jet in the garage so to me that's what a Mustang is and these just don't look good to me inside or out and are really under performers. However other people my age that didn't have classic original Mustangs around seem to prefer these because they were "nice and new" when they were young. So they grew up with sn95 being "the Mustang".

I have a 1999 GT that I've owned for 23 years now. It is my daily driver. I've done wheels and tires and had a paint job done put a cold air induction system, and Flowmaster on it. That's it. Five speed loves the car, but I agree that the stock stance is way too high. Few years ago I decided to put some lowered springs on it but soon after had to remove them because the steep angle of my driveway at my new house would not allow me to get in and out of the driveway.
@little-ol-meАй бұрын
My 1st mod was lowering springs. 2nd was wheels. 3rd was all control arms, swaybars, and shocks/struts. 4th was rear end gear ratio. 5th was exhaust and cold air intake. 6th was underdrive pullies. 7th was short throw shifter. 8th was shock tower brace. 9th was smoked head/tail lights. Got a few things to do still but it's fun car. Fast? Debatable, but fun for sure.

Those were all the right things to do to start out. Nice job. I would have done the same. The cobra wheels are actually 1998 cobra wheels. They were a 1 year only wheel and I had them on my 98 cobra. So they are not the 95 cobra R wheel even though they look similar.
@g8r5oh102 жыл бұрын
LT, those are OEM 98 Cobra wheels, they are NOT the same as the Cobra R wheels. I’d hate for you to buy the 17x10.5 rears to figure it out after they’re mounted. I heard somewhere where there is some kind of spacer for the rear wheels so that they're extended out. It's either that or get wider wheels and tires. The nice thing is that there are mods and upgrades that can be done that makes the car more modern looking. As long as one has the bucks to do all this. My hood has peeled after 21 years but it'll cost $1500 just to paint the hood. I can get the whole car painted for about $7k which will keep the paint matched.

I have one of those Lenox steel diamond coated cut off blades. In my experience. The best thing about it is the fact that it stays the same size for the life of the blade. Otherwise I believe they are more louder/ higher pitch then normal cut off blades and I believe are slower to cut. So definitely wear ear pro. And don't be in a hurry to finish the cut, let the diamonds do its job. Otherwise it a decent blade, but I still prefer the normal cut off blades and use the steel one as a backup blade when I run out of the others.

I am so conflicted on these cars. I never minded the looks of them that much, but there's no question they aren't the most beautiful of all Mustangs. The chassis are a significant upgrade to the Fox body Mustangs, so that's a plus and they can be improved easily and significantly. The 2v engines...man, I don't know. You can get a significant power bump out of them but it isn't cheap. And they're never going to pull those high revs that are so much fun. They sure can sound great.

Cut springs aren't always terrible. When you cut them, the spring rate increases... which is usually what you want with a lowered car so they don't bottom out quite so easily. Most of the problems come when people cut multiple coils out and use the stock shocks, leading to a really bouncy ride. With only one coil out, the stock dampers should be able to handle it pretty well.

Rear spacers in rear for the time being will make a nice improvement in looks. CJs pony parts have 1.5" for about $80. Cutting the coils actually increases the spring rate, which is good! With less available travel, you need a little higher spring rate to keep from hitting the bump stops. The spring rate change is directly proportional to the coils-before divided by coils-after. Your inexpensive drop and wheel upgrade really look nice!
@pmcquay12 жыл бұрын
I was going to add this, and also, since the end he cut isn't flattened and tapered like the other end (at least the fronts anywway), and because he actually measured and didn't go for a slammed look, this really doesn't look like a terrible mod. @icycoolstudiosАй бұрын
I think it's an example of ricing simply because the springs are cut, it completely changes the characteristics of the spring rate, he's gonna have the rear end bottoming out super easily, that adds tremendous stress to the suspension bushings as well, that being said I do love the rims, Cobra rims are so easy to come by, I did it on mine as well

Definitely looks better, I'm just not a fan of that body style. I prefer the 10-13 body style when it comes to modern mustangs. But it looks good.

Looks better for sure, I would have cut another coil down personally. Also, I don't think it looked "ricey" before, it was just not good combos IMHO.

Great video! What was used to remove the strips? Looks like it worked great without scratching the paint

First thing that needs to go is those GHETTO pimpmobile reehuums. Put some proper 15" wheels and tires on it.
