This guy is living out my fantasy. After a multiple years of working customer service I would love to run away into the woods, build a cozy cabin, and live off the land. Unfortunately, I don’t have the skills to pull it off so I will settle for cheering this guy on.

I like the idea of splitting the 3rd and 4th logs, and the floor boards. Then you can use one or two cuts to make a square end, ending up with a flatish floor. Then cap that with the other halves of the 3rd and fourth logs. and continue stacking normally.

What is the significance of debarking the logs?

Once the tree dies, the bark kinda delaminates and this means that there is space for water and bugs. Water will cause your wood to rot, and bugs will borrow into the wood and hide out underneath the bark. At least, that's how I understand it. I hope this helps.👍

It takes away the organic matter that will retain moisture, which you dont want, as the wood under the bark is the structural part that you want to protect from rotting if you leave the vegetation on the wood it will speed up the decomposition of the wood
