I was stuck at 600ish now that I can start to see some of the basic tactics, I'm breezin through the 900s. Hopefully I can hold my own against these kids in the fall. (They're really good btw.). Thanks for everything!!!

Game 10: I had exactly the same scandi against me today: skewer the queen then fork K+R with Bishop . The guy resigned. I'm sure it's obvious for middle / high rated elo. Aman, u do know that,these series goes beyond chess right? It transcends into life,work,health,play etc. And if we develop our own good habits for work and play, it would be only fair to say that our life would be principled and turn out better at the end of each gift of 24 hours/day. We appreciate the time and efforts you have taken to showcase us these simple but beautiful tips. One question, your STONEWALL speed run, doesnt it play on these very same principles? centre stage asap, develop asap, castle asap, strong centre....the stonewall is the living proof of this...same goes for the Vienna opening/gambit. ..the gambit however are tactics but the Vienna game is a good solid opening. What do you think? Greetings from Billy, India. 22/7/23 Today i made my own building habits for my morning work outs and to work...thank u Aman for making me a better version of myself today than yesterday. Billy. Dec 2022...Game 1 played as white, features common early move sequence with white bishop pins black knight to queen, quick white knight move from Nc3 to Nd5 to Nf6. Causes black to double pawns at castled black king. New white bishop move to h6, then prepare white queen for move to g file - quick checkmate. A sort of knight sacrifice attack. Otherwise, still playing endgames with king out to center, chase/take pawns, push pawns. Even when teacher has pieces available to more quickly check or checkmate. So still no endgame attacks. At 1:02:00 first time in lessons where teacher puts a knight on the edge of the board (...h5). Best choice of only two options. After game concludes, shows difference in analysis evaluation of this move. At 1:15:30...question defines fork or pin or skewer. Game at 1:28:00 as black against white scotch opening. 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4... another situation that leads to loss of e pawn, and the fall out. At end of game teacher discusses best habit to survive this opening. Game at 1:31:00 moves include pin-queen, fork king, how fundamental habit moves eventually set up a multi-piece checkmate. Game at 1:48:00 early queen attack/bishop attack game Mr. Hambleton, what you give to the chess beginner is very generous. A way to consider candidate moves without panic. Trade pieces even up...clear up the clutter, remove the queens, and it gets easier to think. Sort of obvious to everyone but me. Thank you.

Why not ba4 in game 2? Said c4 actually traps the bishop but bishop can be put on a4 and after nxa4, white can go nxa4, guarding b2 so that rook can't easily take the b pawn

i get that the tactic in game 10 is technically a skewer but i feel like there is an argument for it being a pin there only bc in a skewer you basically pressure your opponent to move the attacking piece to give up the weaker piece but when u pin a queen to a king your opponent can’t do that. They have to give up the less valuable piece which is more in line w the spirit of a pin. but honestly skewering/pinning w discovered check is kind of its own thing. anyway I love this series a lot. im glad i found this before buying a course

Today everyone is fussing about some billionare cheating in a simul against Vishy Anand. Who cares? This is chess.
@KironKabir3 жыл бұрын
they care because these billionaires and celebrities influence the rest of the population. many people watching weren’t into chess (there were other celebrities also playing with vishy to drive up viewership ) and the indian audience believed the cheater was legit, they get offended over indian criticism , but the indian chess community complained because they don’t want a cheater lauded over their national hero, vishy. He was claiming they were his own moves against Vishy, and that sort of lying isn’t ok. Only after the public backlash, he admitted he cheated to save face and millions of dollars from his trading company . Furthermore, they don’t want newer players to get the idea that using an engine is ok, thus chessdotcom, lichess, etc gets flooded even more with stockfish moves. Imagine someone plays against carlsen on a public platform with engine help and beats him. The same reaction and debate would probably happen. This is chess
