5:08 There's a survival kit on your landing pod that you can grind down and then rebuild at your base. Boom, medical components right there! 6:05 There was Magnesium about 40 meters from your location. You have follow those little hud indicators with the mineral names to find the ores. 17:20 Press "Y" to turn off the power to your vehicle. You can also go into the control panel and increase the strength to add lift to your suspension. Also I recommend increasing the distance the ore detector works to help find ores.

You can save a lot of resources if you build with interior plate instead of steel. Sometimes your OWN body is blocking the wheel from spawning. The power cell problem only apply to batteries already build and in use. You need to raise your car body by 1 and put half blocks or hangar door at the bottom. That explosion is caused by uneven ground, your heavy load and weak suspension.

1: Build a Battery("Power management") and a passenger seat(Power recharge) on your main base. 2: Then you can grind down your survival pod, do not grind the battery! Do not grind down the pods battery(doesnt give cells so you will waste the stored energy, later in the game you can use that battery when you learn to do so or keep it as a emergency recharge location and add a passenger seat to it cause you will drain your base at some point) :D You will get enough parts from the survival pod to build your first little base.

For battery powered craft, instead of turning the "craft" off, what you want to do is put your batteries into recharge mode. They have 3 modes: recharge, discharge, auto. They start in auto by default, and that's usually fine - if something needs power they will provide it, if nothing needs power and power is being fed in (eg from the solar panel), they will recharge. But it's still nice to control it manually. To set up something like this is the same for any part on a ship. Jump into the cockpit, so you have the vehicle toolbar. Then go to the toolbar config screen, and use the mouse to drag the part you want to control from the list section at the top onto the toolbar slots at the bottom. A menu will open up showing all the things you can select that hotkey to do for that part. Note that the toolbar config screen is the "G" menu you have open at 16:57, not the terminal menu you have open (using K) at 17:07 So, if you want to manually control the batteries, drag the battery into the toolbar, and select the "recharge" mode for hotkey 1. Then drag it onto the toolbar again, and set it to "discharge" mod with hotkey 2.

In Space Engineers, you have two grid sizes, small and large. The Medium cargo container is a small grid block only. For large grids, you only have small and large containers. Enjoying so far!

a good tactic for these games is to press every key on your keyboard to learn their purposes, or to speedrun this thing you can read every button on the controls page and only press them

Along with the other tips: No need to grab a TON of Nickle/Silicon/Cobalt when you find it. It takes a LONG time to refine those in a basic refinery, and they produce a ton of ingots. 1 or 2 inventories full is plenty to start with.

You should place gyroscopes on your rover. Gyroscopes let you move your vehicles in mid-air. They are also powerful enough to flip your rover over! This game is complex. Look up some tutorials. Have fun! :D Edit: One more thing. You can change multiple parts settings at once by making groups. They are made in the control panel tab.

Medium cargo container is for Small grid type, the base is large grid, and you can only put a small and large one on the base but, there's a way to attach medium one on the large grid but you need to use large advance rotor with small rotor part attached on it ;)

Hey Z, and welcome to SE! FYI: In your first video, you tried searching for Ore by looking for 'freckles' on the ground. This does work and you did find one. The spot you tried digging did actually show 2 kinds - Ice and Magnesium. The indicators are the same style as GPS, but colored a light yellow, so they can be hard to see (even more so with all that yellow grass). For the record, the trick is to fly high enough that the game's draw distance de-spawns the grass, making the 'freckles' easier to see. Dropping the grass detail in the world settings before you load the save might make it easier for you, until you're more familiar with the game. 1) Pressing 'Y' or 'P' can cause some serious problems for you in later game-play with multiple grids, so it's best to avoid developing that habit from the start. This does require you to do some extra setup each time you build a new vehicle, but it will save you much desk-pounding frustration long term. For ground vehicles, the 'P' function locks/unlocks your Wheels and Connector (if you have one). To replace the 'P' function, access the 'G' menu and drag the Cockpit down to the action bar. You will be given a list of options - select 'Handbrake'. Next, drag the Connector to the action bar, and select 'Switch Lock'. For Air/Space vehicles, 'Switch Lock' the Connector, and add a 'Switch Lock' for the Landing Gear. If you have multiple Landing Gear, group them together and drag the group from the 'Group' listing in the 'G' menu instead. 2) Grouping is done in the 'K' menu (Control Panel). Just highlight the blocks you want to group (Standard Shift-click and CTRL-click works), then enter a name for the group in the 'Group Name' text field in the top-right of the window, and hit 'Save'. Remember to hit 'Save'! Groups are added to the top of the list, above all the blocks, and have a '*' (asterisk) in front of the name. Adding new blocks to a group is easy. Just select the group, then CTRL-click the new blocks and click 'Save' again. Grouping things like Wheels and Thrusters is very useful, allowing you to select the group and change setting for all blocks in that group together. 3) Vehicle mass will affect how much thrust/wheel power, suspension strength, friction (on hills) you will need. Every block added to a grid adds mass. Different blocks have different mass. Any cargo in the vehicle's inventory will add mass, and so will everything in your backpack, once you enter the Cockpit/Control Seat. You lost the back-end of your rover because the Wheel Suspension Strength was too weak for the total mass with Ice added and the Cargo Container hit the ground hard enough to be destroyed. 4) You may want to re-name your Wheels to include 'Front' and 'Rear/Back' (Control Panel - Select block - Block Name text field in center column). You may also want to disable 'Steering' on the rear Wheels to reduce the chance of rolling from turning too fast. Dropping your Max Speed for your Wheels is a good idea too. 180kph is WAY too fast for hilly terrain. Better to get there slow than not at all. 5) Pistons = 'Lift Jack' in an emergency. Just don't forget about balance. Don't feel to bad about all this. SE is a very complex sandbox to learn at first. As long as you're having fun, it's all good. Also, some of the most popular SE content on YT is long-form. 1 - 4hr long videos are pretty common for SE. You don't have to make them that long, but most SE fans won't mind if you do. Also, don't worry too much about keeping the 'grind' out of the videos - that's an integral part of the game-play for SE. Looking forward to more SE from your channel.

There are large grid items and small grid items. What you had was small grid. The large grid cargo containers does not have a medium.

Small block rovers in space engineers are notoriously prone to explode when they hit the tiniest of rough voxel in the terrain. That's why I never play the game without shield mods :P But yeah, its important to have enough clearance on your rover body, non-armor blocks can't take much impact damage. You can change the wheel suspension strength which helps you keep a heavily loaded rover from bottoming out. And in general, armor blocks can offer a layer of protection, though small ship light armor blocks are about as strong as paper as they only have 1 steel plate and thus 1 hit point.

Brutal but comical watching someone play this for the first time lol, should definitely stream it. Definitely use your armor blocks to protect some of the sensitive spots on your builds and be prepared to have stuff blow up lol. My first drilling craft took several hours to build and about 5 mins to destroy. Game is a lot of trial and error and frustration but an awesome game once you get the hang of it.

I was on the fence about giving tips on this series :) One of the reasons I use realistic inventories is because mass does effect the physics of the game. If you are carrying 10 times more weight it effects you that much more in moving that weight. Also I reuse a lot of stuff if I can. Part of engineering is taking an existent tech and making it fit a new role. Your escape pod has 4 atmospheric engines, A battery, O2/H Gen, and a combination Med bay/mini refiner/mini assembler. You could for example add a drill onto the ship along with some other thrusters and get a way to dig more rock for your mini refinery without having to pick it up. You can also use the Alt and Ctrl Keys to group systems together and select what you want to effect. Later after you do that you can also create a group from the top right side of the panel. These little aids make it easier to control your crafts as well as your bases. Wheels are fun things to use because they consume very little power and keep the ship from dragging on the ground. You need to up the suspension strength on all wheels if you want to carry really heavy loads. Suggestion would be to upgrade to larger wheels if you want more stability. 5x5 small wheels are great for small rovers. Try 6 if 4 is not stable enough as well. Hope these tips can be useful to you for the rest of the series :)

Z, you picked up ice and manganese with your drill, They show up as yellow dots on your HUD. You probably want to have bigger suspension for your car for when you fill it up with ore, you also need a better refinery to refine cobalt.

Also, Z: In spite of what the good bot tells you, DO NOT USE P TO PARK OR Y TO TURN OFF YOUR POWER! You'll learn that lesson once you start connecting vehicles to bases or other vehicles. Instead press G and drag your cockpit to the tool bar and select Toggle Handbreak on/off. Use that instead of P. For power, put your batteries on the tool bar the same way with toggle recharge.

Not gonna lie, as a veteran of this game, I kinda have a love/hate relationship with this series so far. I love watching the perspective of someone who doesn't know the game, but I hate not being able to help you with your problems that to me are so obvious but to you just make no sense (because SE REALLY lets you figure things out on your own if you don't do the tutorials XD). The discolouring in the ground was an ore deposit, markers for magnesium and ice appeared when you were over it. If your vehicle flips over, you could build a stack of blocks attached to the vehicle then build over to the side, shifting the centre of mass and causing the vehicle to tip over, or build a gyroscope on the vehicle, keeping it level in mid-air and allowing you to roll it over if you tip it. In the 'k' menu, you can add the wheels as a group, allowing you to make the same adjustments to all wheels at once. You should increase the strength of the suspension in the wheels, and you could try to add an 'increase suspension strength' and 'decrease suspension strength' in the menu. You can do this by pressing 'G' when in the vehicle, rmb clicking on the suspension group in the groups tab and selecting those options, allowing you to adjust the suspension strength depending on the load of the vehicle. Also, try adding a 'handbrake' option by rmb clicking the cockpit in the same menu.

if the wheel doesn't spawn, make sure there is enough ground clearance and then, go into control panel go to the suspension, and then scroll down and select add wheel, also, when you build a vehicle, always put a few blocks on top of the gear and the build on top of those blocks to give extra clearance

Your stuff got cleaned up (despawned) by the ingame trash cleanup, i lost alot of stuff before i knew of this aspect/feature of the game. Any unpowered grid under i think its 20 blocks gets removed when you travel a set distance from said structre

You should look up some info about wheel settings, the default wheel settings kind of suck. Also, if you build a gyroscope you can turn/control your car with the mouse. And roll it with Q and E. And I also recommend having at least light armor blocks around your car parts.
