Now that you have the ability to build a 2JZ in any displacement what would it be and how big could you go? Could you double the size to 5.0L or 6.0L and still be reliable for world record inline 6 engine stuff?
@realstreetperformance4 жыл бұрын
TurboDieselDan you can’t really increase the displacement much more. The bore spacing is the limitation. The bore really can’t go more than 87mm safely at this level do the only way to increase displacement is with stroke. And too much stroke will have diminishing returns. 3.4 L is probably the biggest you could go safely for drag racing. But the fast 2j cars run less stroke than that

Good work as always explaining and showing. Question, at 3:11, it looks like the HG was not on when the head was set. While you can run no HG with true surfaces/o-ringed, is this the case since so much power will be made? If so, what was the limiting power your team made with a MLS before it possibly failed? Just curious.

its using a copper head gasket with an o-ringed block and a receiver groove in the head

I have owned 2jz since the year 2000.drag engine To street engine at same boost.you can put 80 psi Into a 1j or 2j,drag racing guys throw 80 to 100 psi,in a split second.iorn block with progressive boost will take 80 psi no distortion,that I have encountered.

What's the safe max boost on a stock jdm 2jz gte non vtti. currently using a pte6262 .68ar. Previous owner had a semi bad tune... needs retune but I'm curious to know if it can achieve 400hp on 91. 800cc injectors. Aem v1. Will be going with a Maxx ecu soon.
@realstreetperformance3 жыл бұрын
hey there, check this article out www.realstreetperformance.com/blog/how-much-will-a-stock-2jz-hold/ it explains how that question doesn't really work. All engines die some day. The harder you run them, the sooner they die. It will live longer at 400hp than it will at 800hp However, to answer your question the best I can, with a good tune I would be willing to bet that the engine will run at 400hp for longer than you will own it for.

@@realstreetperformance thansk. Great writeup.. l be happy with 450hp. 600hp might be tops for my 240z chassy. What have you seen on a stock 2jz achieve on pump 91 single turbo? I'm kinda thinking my pte6262 .68ar is my limiting factor. Super responsive amd good daily.. just haven't seen much reviews on it. Just hoping I can achieve 450-500 on this turbo on pump gas.

How much power will this build hold
@realstreetperformance4 жыл бұрын
Hard to say at this point. We dont have a dyno that can read it accurately because of the converter and the tire spin. But the car has gone 6.77@210mph in the 1/4 so far and the engine seems like it can take more. The car we are using it in has a full cooling system, air to air intercooler, and has to drive long distances on the street so its fairly heavy compared to most dry block race cars. We will keep pushing it to find out

Is it even a 2jz anymore though at this point you could build an engine to any spec you wanted you don't need to be limited to only 2jz parts
@realstreetperformance4 жыл бұрын
well you can build a 2jz to the same specs you can build this engine to. Because we are using a 2jz crankshaft we are limited to 2jz bore spacing ... so we cant really go larger than 87mm on the pistons. Just like a 2jz. We could make the deck taller, but we didnt, its a 2jz deck height with a 2jz piston and a factory length rod. Its really a clone of the factory block, just made out of aluminum with iron sleeves.
