Get a fake owl/hawk that you can put on the roof, We had one with a bobble head to make it look like it moves with the wind. Deters pretty much every bird and squirrels. You can get some with cameras installed in them too to serve as a security tool too.

You said you live next to the beach so for landscaping you guys should add some nice palm trees. Such as the canary island date palm and mexican fan palm they do great in coastal areas of the UK and will give it a unique look.
