Building The CHEAPEST 1000HP Corvette ZR1 On The Planet!

After buying the cheapest C6 Corvette ZR1 I could find at $47k with over 100,000 Miles on it, things predictably get ROUGH during my quest for 1000hp... In this video we face our biggest challenge yet when things go south with my brand new built LS9 engine!
My chase for an 8 second pass in a C6 ZR1 Vette might be over before it gets started but we have no choice but to figure out a way around it and cross our fingers!

Hey guys, quick tip. To prevent stuff you pressure wash off like after you degrease from corroding or to keep it clean even further, mist wax over it :) don’t have to buff and keeps a sealant over it. Can be a cheap wax, still works. Takes another 2 min to do overall lol

I feel your pain with the broken header bolt. I spent 12 hours getting 3 out of an LS head. Left hand drill bits helped, but ultimately I ended up finally getting them out with an extractor.

@@epic_playz9214 yeah it was extremely frustrating. What started out as a simple header install turned into pulling the heads, replacing lifters, new pushrods and a trunion upgrade. Was one of those "well while I'm in there moments" haha

Fran I noticed he used the D port header gaskets. Shouldn’t those be round with the 2” headers? Hate to see something that cheap and easy get missed. 🤙🏽

Very strange that the set of Frankenstein heads had the threads messed up like that. Maybe a quality check that wasn't done on those for some reason. Glad you were able to get it sorted out though. Looking forward to watching this Z get completed.

I would of put a high torue mini starter on there with a thermal blanket, had to do it to mine due to higher comp pistons and lazy oem starter.

Man the broken bolt brought back memories of when I put headers on my challenger 5.7 hemi, broke a bolt, then an extractor. Ended up replacing the head. No Bueno

1000hp C6 ZR1? Hopefully, you make closer to 1200whp on E85 with an LME LS9, worked heads, cam, Kong 2650, and supporting mods. I vote LS7 swapped Nissan Juke!!

You need to change those header gaskets. It looked like you used the D port gaskets and you should use the round gaskets. Just FYI..

Instead of bolts which pull and twist in the aluminum. Put studs in for the headers and use arp 12pt nuts . Saves what you did drilling a bolt out.

stainless bolts are my least favorite thing, however ive learned that lubing them when stainless goes into stainless helps ten fold over the years, idk why but stainless gulls on threads and basically welds itself together, also when drilling stainless you need to pulse the drill, to keep the drill bit cool, or itll dull your bit almost instantly

Step up to a timecert. Way thicker than a normal helicoil. You’ll have plenty of meat to get it back to the og headed bolt size

I would have took a cutoff wheel and put a slot in that broken bolt. Use a good straight head screw driver on a 3/8 drive... super easy to remove then.

I always run a tap into the hole and put antisieze on any bolt that is going into aluminum. just so the bolt does not sieze and do what happened to you. Especially stainless into aluminum .

Antisieze in LS header bolts will just have them come loose from vibration. Using a good quality bolt and cleaning the threads before hand goes a long way.

@@RoxxPC not with stainless, you NEED a lube. Not getting better quality than ARP, if it was Chinese stainless, this wouldn't have happened (that's not a good thing btw) Never put it in dry! With stainless anyway 😂
