Thanks for letting me know and watching, of course. I try not to make the videos too long most of the time. It seems the ten to twenty minute videos are about as much as people that are following along have time for.

is your leaky weir in the channel or is it a drainage catchment? good to see you back working on the pond, can't wait to see it all filled up and finished.

Thanks for following along with the project as always. This one is at the top upper portion of the road to slow and soak in some of the sheet draining coming down the hillside.

Thanks for watching the project. I have made some magic happen with the little Kubota. In another ten years, you probably wouldn't recognize the place.

Looking forward to seeing plants in your pond. Things like Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) can remove certain kinds of nutrients from your pond and literally can thrive over the whole pond within a few weeks. Plants to clean that water is something I am hoping to do myself when my land is finally paid off.

off topic questions about your turbine Simon. Will you share the manufacturer, specs and estimate the approximate cost today so I can pass the info along to a friend of mine? ✅

Sure thing, it's an air-x 400w 33amp max output 12v. I paid 1,100 for it back in 2001. It has worked very well for me so far. Thanks for following along with the project as always.

Big earthworks for such relatively small machines. Can you share how much ware and tare and upkeep there is?
@TimelineRanch2 күн бұрын
Good question, and thanks for watching the project. I would say that over the past eight years, I have had the little Kubota I have spent 28,000 dollars on repairs and upkeep. Some of these costs should have been covered under warranty recalls, but the company I bought it from, did not notify me about it, so I had to pay out of pocket.
@wfelsКүн бұрын
Wow that's a lot 😂

Is the pond also well fed? great work!
@TimelineRanch4 күн бұрын
Good question, and thanks for watching. No, the pond only gets its water from rain. I don't have the money to afford a modern well. That's why I build the old-fashioned well that gets its water from the pond through the underground gravel bed.
@goochbootch34663 күн бұрын

Nice to see progress with the pond. Do you risk losing some of the tightness if you dig deeper?
@TimelineRanch4 күн бұрын
That is always a possibility, but I think the risk is worth it. If it does start losing water, there are a few ways to fix it. Thanks for following along with the ranch build as always. I hope you have made a full recovery. I haven't heard from you in a while.

Not sure whether leaky dam is the right concept. That is useful if there is running water. Perhaps a sand dam, that does not leak water and stores the rain in the ground before a not leaking dam, would be the better concept. But it looks to me that you already have done that.
@TimelineRanchКүн бұрын
Thanks for watching the project. With the soil that is mixed in with the rocks, it should retain a good bit of water. The other purpose is just to slow down the water. There will be several in series, so one should compliment the other in that chain.
