I stick welded the axle tubes to the center section of a couple ford 8.8s with 7018. Preheat to 400, wrap in fiberglass insulation to slow cooling. Haven't seen any issues with the welds, one axle was done 7 years ago, the other 2 years ago.

I love your content so of course more frequent is better in my opinion. Maybe you can break each project down into a series and organize the content a little more which would also help you with what to create and when to create it. So instead of cutting the plates for a frame and welding all in the same video, plan the project out on paper, and schedule it. One video is the cardboard templates, the next is designing and cutting in CAD, and then the last video could be the actually welding and installing of the plates. This would also give you more content to upload for the same amount of hours worked.

I’m fine with whatever content you want to put out. Most of the channels I follow release videos every Sunday. Sometimes they’ll throw in another video on like a Wednesday or Thursday, but typically it’s just 1 release a week on Sundays. So I’m cool with that. I wouldn’t want to wait 2 weeks personally for a 40 minute video. I’d rather have a 20 minute video every week.

Definitely prefer the longer videos mate, however if it is better for KZbin smaller videos could help your channel. You’re definitely one of the best channels for this sort of stuff on KZbin so I am pretty surprised you’re not getting the views that you deserve. You could do shorter videos in parts and then upload a full version of the parts afterwards as well

With the detailed description following the build process, I'll prefer the shorter videos. I honestly think I will skip more minutes in a longer video and on the other hand watch the entire thing if it's shorter. That being said, do what suits you and your family best - you are the keystone in this channel holding it all up 🙂 Take care.

I understand shorter videos are easier to edit etc and for some viewers that check videos between breaks, shorter is convenient. A longer video less frequently also has its benefits as you get to see the whole job In one go. Both are good for me. Whats fits your lifestyle may be Best.

I would say do a weekly video but do small updates with tips or tricks as the KZbin reels. I think that would help you most with the current algorithm. Plus if a project takes you three weeks, you could put out a complication video as well so those that was the larger videos could have them.

Heyo! Tip for the next axle. Tig brazing! I've preferred it a lot over welding the center sections. Another note: Forgings can be welded. they take a billet of regular steel and beat it into shape. Even cast steel welds quite well. Cast iron cracks because it pulls the carbon into the weld, then the heat affected zone has a crystalline structure that just makes it brittle. thats why the nickel rod works, it doesn't allow the carbon to be pulled into the pool. You can easily tell forgings from castings by the parting line. hard to explain, but casting typically have a very narrow parting line as the sand molds fit pretty well. on forgings, it tends to be very wide and have marks from shearing the waste material off. note that all the striations in the parting line are straight and parallel to each other, this helps distinguish from a ground casting. the shearing operation is usually the last operation of forging. they tend to be around 3/16 to 3/8 inch wide on forgings and usually around a 1/16 on castings. This is really handy to know because you can't forge cast iron. It just crumbles. So if its forged, weld on! Quick edit: ok, look at the inner C's on the axle. those are forged. your knuckles are cast. generally speaking, knuckles tend to be cast steel so that if you hit something on accident while driving they may bend a bit before breaking. Iron is very brittle, as a result most manufacturers tend to used steel in knuckles.
