Just completed the build, and this pedal is a monster. There is so much good in here this thing should be considered a masterpiece. Forget about the originals, getting all of them and so much more with the modules is just bunkers.

I want several....I can't stop thinking about it...

I was just saying, that we plan to have many other modules. And it's not just limited to boosts. Anything that can be operated with just a volume knob is a possibility. Simple overdrive modules, compressors, fuzzes, octaves.

dude.... you're awesome

great concept and I can;t wait to try it. I use the MTS modular amp system so this will be very fun to play with all the amp pre's in my rig.

Please check your website for ordering this pedal. The option to select 18V JFET Boost Module is not in the drop down.

IF it's not on the drop down, that means we're currently out of stock.

Very impressive! Which module would be best for some colorsound powerboost sounds?
@buildyourownclone5 жыл бұрын
None of them really. You'd get closer to that sound with the drive channel than the boost channel.

buildyourownclone so, for a gilmour type setup, any recomendations? Got an Buffalo FX Patriot and an Evolution which I would like to combine....
@buildyourownclone5 жыл бұрын
@@joumannoe You've already got the Patriot, so you're probably good for muff tones. I don't know this for certain, but I believe the Evolution is closer to a RAT or DS-1 than a Muff. Regardless, I don't think you want to stack the two together. You'd want to use any sort of low gain overdrive that can add back the mids that you lose with with the Muff. The colorsound power booster with the treb and bass cut (this boosts mids on a baxandall EQ) is obviously what most people will go for, but you can use a tubescreamer, or klon, or bluesbreaker based pedal with similar results.

buildyourownclone sounds like a plan, thank you very much for your quick reply!

Would be wonderful if those boost modules could simply be slid in like memory-cards - into a side-opening slot - or if you had several boost options just baked-in too!
@buildyourownclone7 жыл бұрын
That would be very cool to have easy access like that. But, the boost circuits are analog and built with through hole components. The various boosts aren't digital, so it's not just a matter of putting some different code on a tiny little chip. There are resistors, and capacitors, and transistors involved that need to be large enough so that actual humans can handle them, and that's not really conducive to something that has the physical dimensions and functionality of an SD card. At least not in the space that we have to work with. We've made other pedals like the TriBoost and the Quadboost which have multiple boost circuits in them, and we could have crammed something like that into the Crown Jewel. But with this, the possibilities are endless. We've got 6 different boost modules now. We have plans to release more. And it doesn't have to be limited to just boost circuits. Anything that can be reasonably operated with just a volume knob can work. So we could do compressor modules. We could do fuzz modules. Other simple overdrive modules. Octave up module. Octave down module (although I doubt we'd have enough space for a circuit that complex).

Thank you kindly for your well considered response. I wasn't really focusing on the size - I was thinking more in terms of a capsule or a kind of old-school gaming cartridge - as a self-contained modular capsules of analogue circuits. Of course I realise there would be significant cost implications with such an approach, and there would be limits on what you could do wit that - which is not a constraint with the current methodology - which probably better suits your core target audience. Really looking forward to watch this pedal grow and evolve.

If it used the same connector as a laptop mini pcie or an angled ide connector then it would work great. You could then print the cards using a service like OSH PARK and then populate everything. pinoutguide.com/images/pinout_minipcie.png

Could you do a module similar to EQD Acapulco Gold or Erupter? Set levels with just a single knob control?
@buildyourownclone7 жыл бұрын
We wouldn't make one, but you could use our experimenter module board to do something like this tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2015/11/earthquaker-devices-acapulco-gold.html

the pedal sounds interesting , but with options adds up ! like many youtube videos , could you tune the guitar or get a pro player?
@dyamariv36285 жыл бұрын
If you would like to pay out of your own pocket to get a pro player and make sure the guitar is perfectly in tune then I suggest you do all this work and make a video yourself. That's awesome that BYOC is even doing this for its customers..If you whine enough, they'll stop bothering to do videos and then you'll probably whine about why they aren't doing the pedal demos anymore..Some people are never happy.. On a positive note, thanks BYOC for this video and pedal! I love mine, keep it up!
