浅井空手: 武術としての突き実演その参・ブルースリーが見せたのは本当の一インチパンチだったのか:コロンビア首都ボゴタ講習会
Bruce Lee demonstrated "one inch punch" 60 years ago in Long Beach CA. This demo was the first time in the western world. As the large audience had never seen anything like this so they were all very much impressed.
I respect Bruce Lee as the first Asian martial artist who became successful in Hollywood. As a martial artist, I have to reveal that his technique in those videos was not a genuine one inch punch.
In this video here, I demonstrate his technique and explain what I did to imitate it. It may look impressive, if you watch it very closely, you will see that there was a pushing action of the upper body.
With the true one inch punch, there must not be any pushing action. I have shared a few videos of this and plan to share some more this week.
He also placed a chair right behind the target person. After Lee's punch this person had to fall on to the chair and you might even see him fallen down. This is a typical theatrical idea to make his punch looking far more dynamic or impressive.
I suggest that you will watch his video of "one inch punch" demonstration again but this time with a different mind set.
Now that you know about this pushing effect, how would you evaluate his punch? Was it a genuine one inch punch or was there a pushing action? You will be the judge.
