@@Bukola1 My ex-girlfriend did a coding bootcamp about 5 years ago (Epicodus in Portland, OR) but wasn't able to find a job afterward. If you don't need a college degree to be a software engineer, and the barriers to entry are so low (i.e., a bootcamp that lasts only a few months), wouldn't a lot of people flood the market to be software engineers and bring down the median wages? After all, you can't have a professional license or credential to keep the supply-and-demand balanced in your favor.

I know the college process can be difficult at times and make you question your capabilities, however, just continue to study and use other resources like KZbin tutorials, books, and coding sites. A lot of the material you're required to complete in college will not be what you'll be doing once you're working in the CS field but it's the process you have to endure to get the degree.
@SankakuArts4 жыл бұрын
smart is such a relative term.
@gaminwithgc4 жыл бұрын
Hey Andy, you shouldn't really be concerned with "how smart" you are -- you earned a spot in a post-secondary school to study CS (I'm going to assume you're in school) which is a very big accomplishment in itself, and demonstrates your potential. I think you need to focus on what methods help you learn the best. Are you a visual learner? Can you grasp something by just listening? Do you do better when you apply theory to projects? etc. If you are in school, you should really speak with a professor or assistant and get some help. You're definitely smart enough to learn how to become an engineer. Programming is not an easy thing to learn, and really does require practice. I would also advise you to really focus on continuing to practice as much as you can. Realistically, you learn so much by just doing a lot. Grades in school does not equate your intelligence level or potential! Keep at it, bud.
@Bukola14 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Honestly, I think being “smart” is overrated, what matters more is your ability to work hard, be persistent and disciplined. You are smart enough to be a software engineer and you definitely don't need perfect grades to have a successful career in tech!

Thank you so much. Here is my question : How do you see the IT in the next few years? Do you think it will be saturated resulting in the shrinking of the job market ?
@plantlove40304 жыл бұрын
Bruce almighty Hi Bruce, I know your question is geared to the KZbinr but I am also a woman in IT specifically as a Data Analyst and I can tell you with full proof there’s no such thing as over saturation in tech not at the moment or the future to come. There’s a vast space in tech you can get into. There’s EDI, there’s Data Analysts/Scientist, Software engineer, solution architect for Amazon or just being AWS certified. The options are too many for any such thing as saturation. Figure out what space you want to get into and make a plan on how you can get there
