The best way to prepare for behavioural interviews is to do more interviews. After finishing my degree I would even go to interviews for jobs I didnt want just to practice my 'script'. It all worked out and I felt confident and got good feedback on my communication skills because I had practiced so much. Once you have a good script and you have practiced your script a lot, you can easily deviate from it. Deviation from the script is important when you start feeling the personality of the interviewer, then you try to push a personality that the interviewer likes.

Great video! You are so correct about needing the referral in today’s market, but I’d add needing an ‘aggressive’ employee referral to push you further 😂. When I was referring, I didnt just submit their name through only. I actually tried to find the recruiter, team members, and manager for the role AND THEN soft introduce the candidate via email/etc. This is where their cover letter helped me sell them more on the role and ensure their name was at least seen. Still no guarantees, but way better than submitting into a black nebula of a portal. Would love to see a future video on strategies to evaluate a job posting or industry to determine a certain confidence level of it being real and/or something the company is actively hiring for. I think many of us are just plain struggling to not “waste our time”.

I've had a lot of interviews, but none of them were referrals. I think it just matters how well you can connect with the recruiter. In the last 3 weeks I've completed close to 15 interviews. Recoding yourself is really good, especially for technical interviews. I also think leaning on the recruiter for types of questions in each interview. I find that the more proactive I am with the recruiter, the more likely I am to advance.

For large companies, pay attention to their fiscal year and maybe look at their most current earning to gauge where their focus for the new fiscal year will be. This could help you be strategic with when you apply for specific roles.

I got referrals for Tiktok, Disney, General Atomics and still dont get interviews. I cold apply and got interviews for 2K games, Google, Boeing, and 2 Auto Finance companies.
