The Dodge Viper the transmission came loose and when the guy was stopped at a red light when the light turned green he took off the transmission twisted which broke the bellhousing and broke the fuel line in the process and hot fuel spilled on the exhaust and a spark from the clutch ignited the fuel

My dad's friend was looking at some Porsche Cayenne at auction, he's a rebuilder too. The B pillar was a bit bent, my dad mentioned that and this friend was like "Are you trying to scare me?" lol

I believe the dark colored Jeep shown at 19:36 in the video is the same one a friend of mine was in when his family had an accident. There were 3 people in the vehicle at the time of the accident that occurred north of Chicago, days prior to the 10th of May 2023. This My friend who was the passenger in the seat that was crushed said, "Got into a serious accident with a semi and got air lifted to a hospital. Broke my hand and a lot of ribs but doing really well compared to my first day...I was the passenger in this car and it’s a miracle that the injuries I got is all that I got." Remarkable nobody was injured worse, and amazing to see the vehicle on your KZbin Channel.

8:25 It could be some type of a "Lemon Law" vehicle. Where if the new car has to go to the dealership three times for a certain problem and the dealership tries to fix it three times but can't then the car is called a "Lemon" and the buyer bets to buy another car and the Lemon car is forever marked as a "Lemon" from the factory. This happened to quite a few 2007 BMW 335i's when they first came out as the High Pressure Fuel pump's had a major flaw and the car's were brought to the dealership (Under Warranty of course) but the HPFP kept failing so they were sold off as "Lemon cars under the "Lemon Law" I actually bought one in 2014 in Canada after someone had bought the car in the USA and brought it up the Canada then I got it years later. Under the car report in was written up as a faulty car just a few thousand miles after it was sold due to a "Mechanical default" from the factory. That's how I found out about that law.

A former CEO wrecked 2 Vipers, lol. First one was being driven by his minion after dropping him off at the airport, and he uttered the fateful words "Let's see what this baby can do". Which was get sideways on a rain-slick road and get hit by a Ford Explorer. Second one was in a parking deck. He forgot he was in reverse after stopping to chat with the head of Marketing and backed into a concrete post. Best improvement ever to the Viper was to add traction aids.

Always interesting seeing what the Chicago Auction lot has to offer, Alex. In regards to the bullet hole in the Sonata bumper cover 13:17, you would be surprised how much plastic type materials and even wood can close back in on itself after the bullet passes through. No way to tell caliber based on the size/diameter of the hole in metal, either. Metal tend to flex and stretch a bit before the bullet breaks through and that makes it impossible to tell. 17:15 Doors can stop bullets, but only if the bullets hit some of the heavier metal structure/mechanisms inside. I've recovered many a fired bullet from the bottom of door interiors, but at the same time many have just passed right through.

Normally I don’t really care for the “walking around in copart” videos but this video really makes me think people like you can so easily buy a couple of cars to just part out or upgrade your own and resell whatever is left to a junkyard and make a decent side income… IE mustang recaros, ws6 tail lights, rover interior, bel aire powertrain… etc Of course not just those parts specifically but other parts as well you can use or sell for a profit wether it’s money or in upgrades I’ve really wanted to do that before but I just don’t have the space or place to work on a car where I live..

Can confirm, RWD Mopar cars tend to be a good experience as a mechanic. Most things have been on the less difficult side as far as working on them. It's like the engineers aren't overly consumed with skipping the supermodels to screw the mechanics.

26:51 I worked at Nissan many years ago, and we would get what are known as hobo units. They were always delivered by rail car and homeless people would jump in the cars and live in them from Mexico to Tennessee. I was in the body shop and I had to do a fair bit of detailing those units, the worst was a infinity q45 that someone used the center console as a poopy potty. We didn’t have and hazmat stuff we just pulled the console and replaced it and detailed all the other mess. These units were lived in till they ran out of the small amount of fuel in them and they would move on.

Clutch probably let go on that viper. No scatter shield so it shot clutch through the fuel lines or similar and caught fire.

The hemi’s when they sit a long time are noisy at start up, if you gave it a second it’d quiet down. Slow to make oil pressure.

Spending many years working in collision repair shops in upstate and Long island area of NY where fraud is the only way to remain afloat the ways to maximize payout from insurance are endless one that has always stuck with me is getting a fairly new M5 in need of a bumper cover n some paint work totalled out because of bio hazard poop. The customer wanted out of their payments and they got into a parking lot bump that spooked their little yapping dogs n they crapped all over in the car so after arguing with the adjuster on if the poop would clean or would the interior need replacing so to avoid getting screwed on a supplement they totalled it.

As a native Chicagoan I know that the number of bullet hole cars shown only represent a fraction of the total. At least weekly now one of the major highways near Chicago is closed off for hours to investigate a shooting. This literally shuts down traffic for hours and sometimes it's during midday midweek! Smh.

The Viper had a non-driver slipping the clutch excessively. Very, very excessively. Something around the bell housing caught fire, which kept the already hot clutch and flywheel area hot. Plastic and vinyl often burn with high heat, and it may not have taken much for the bell housing to melt. You’d be surprised how quickly aluminum melts, and what doesn’t reach that point get brittle, so some of it fell away, some of it melted, and what you saw was left.

Ian 70 odd and never get tied of looking around breaker yards co part etc, in U.K. I found a RS 4 avant with 20k damage was small damage to front splitter drove it for 3 months until oarts turned up, man those Audi oarts need a mortgage to buy 🤪, but that engine 450 hp 8250 Rev limit going through that dynamic gear box with vector control, then finding out it was a demo model after seeing 195 mph show up, and digging into it’s history, I found out it could be pushing 500 plus, it’s 0-60 is 3.5 ,having a good deal of fun great for putting huge grins on your face, off to a dyno soon 👍

It def looks like the vipers clutch came apart and blew through the bellhousing I've seen kits of carnage like that drag racing and truck and tractor pulls when the clutches blow apart and turn into giant saw blades

My Dad bought a jeep truck, I think it was back in the 80s. Anyway a man and woman OD or something in it and both died on a back road in the summer... The cops or someone got most of the remains out but the smell was so bad nobody would buy it. The ride was basically brand new. He literally pulled fingernails out of the window trim.... They blew up and filled the cab from what I understand.... It's like the urban legend but he really bought one like that back then..... Lemon juice was the only thing he found that cut the smell even after the interior was changed.... He said nobody else would have noticed the smell but he could still get a small smell of it when it was hot outside..... He sold it to my grandfather (his Dad) after a year or two.... But couldn't imagine them selling a car at a salvage lot like that nowadays

Alex about .22 calibre ...... They come with different power loads for the small size actual bullet from the small plinking round .22 short to the higher energy .22 LR and magnum rounds, even the .223 (556) round from say an AR15 has a bullet only slightly larger than a .22 :-) Size of the hole isn't guaranteeing a low power firearm.

Hi I'm a gun guy the bull holes in the Elantra look like a 9 mm or 45 even the small one on the bumper whenever bullets go through hard plastic like that they pretty much seal right behind so it's going to look small like a 22 but trust me it's a lot bigger than what it looks like

The dodge viper had a clutch come apart at high RPM, it can create a small fire, or just smoke from the burnt clutch. Check the floorboards for dents or holes.

(Reference to the Hyundai) The usb stick is used as a key! It’s not electronic means. Lol I have 7 of these theft recoveries at my shop right now. They tear apart the lower panel on the steering column, pull out the tumbler and stuck a thumb drive over the little paddle inside. Once that’s done, boom they can turn and start it.

My theory on cars like the E-tron is that they’re repo’s, dealers don’t want them due to it showing up on the carfax. Thus they end up in auction lots

Hellcat oil could also have an additive that makes it look like that. I sometimes use Moly additives and the oil can look very similar to that
