@@medialcanthus9681 I think the reason why India cannot stand to lose to China is that New India(1947) and New China(1949) has the same starting point(both end colonial era with many many poor people), but now China can even compete with the US, as for India... Anyway, as a Chinese, I don't want a confrontation between my country and India, because China and India have been good friends since ancient times, China used to learn a lot from India, like Buddhism. We don't need to obsess over a territory that is unfit for human habitation, we should develop the economy first, don't let the white turn us against each other. As a populous country, I think India is time to learn from China. Now India has a more "young" population than China, if your gov lets go of ideological bias and start cooperation with China actively, India will grow much faster than now.

As a Chinese, sometimes it is sad to see the current state of affairs between China and India. We are all great ancient civilizations in history, and we all had splendid and immortal cultural, We have a history of friendly exchanges for thousands of years, and we have all suffered from Western colonization in modern times. our two countries have achieved national independence after ups and downs, and now they are both at a high speed. We have such the same historical experience, but we have come to such an embarrassing situation today. . .
@valerievankerckhove93252 жыл бұрын
I agree! I'm half-Chinese. China and India have been great neighbors for millenia. Both have much more to gain from cooperating than from making enemies out of each other, because they share many of the same pressing concerns: - How to life hundreds of millions out of poverty while preserving their natural heritage. - How to provide energy to everyone in a less polluting way. - How to preserve their rich rural traditions, unlike Western countries who have completely abandoned their farmers. And Chinese and Indians share many traits too, like a love of delicious food and of beautiful culture. China has made inroads into high-end manufacturing while India concentrated on IT. So many possibilities of synergies if the two were to just get along. Throw in Japan for quality control, and what world problems would Asians not be able to solve?

First of all as a person who lived in India till 2017, and now in the US for past 5 years (Most of my friends are Chinese), I can tell you hands down that India is far behind China. India is technically at war with itself with states fighting with the capital in Delhi. India can never develop because Indians are good at serving others. Look at the CEOs are all Indians. They never serve themselves. However I think the future lies in Eastern (West Bengal) and northeast (7 sisters). They are more prudent than rest of India.
@valerievankerckhove93252 жыл бұрын
@@anartaroy711 I wouldn't feel so pessimistic about Indian CEOs in the US. Many Chinese went abroad too, and the Chinese diaspora ended up investing in China then trickling back once China reached a certain level of development. In other words, all those successful Indians overseas may one day contribute greatly to the development of India. The more they learn and master the best in Western countries in the meantime, the greater the things they will be able to bring back. Also, I can't help but notice that China became what it is today because it stubbornly focused on the basics (basic education, infrastructure, manufacturing starting at the very bottom and moving up) until they gained an absolute advantage in manufacturing ecosystem that allowed them to move up, and it then turned around and started promoting the development of its poorer regions. India may yet go through a similar trajectory, but this time building on the service and perhaps pharmaceutical sectors, first focusing on export then turning around and focusing on improving domestic demand. Once it reaches a critical mass, the Indians overseas serving as CEOs of big Western companies may come back and enable India to make a push into becoming a global leader. Of course, it may seem unlikely now, but I was born in China and lived in an out of China. As a kid I thought China was a shithole. I could not have imagined a day when my Chinese mom in China (who barely survived the Cultural Revolution) would become a carefree mobile shopping addict, with fresh fruits and seafood from all corners of China delivered by the next day.

High Speed Rail is a 5 decade old proven tech and there is hardly a place in the world more suited to it than India. The longer India delays mass deployment of HSR more expensive it will be. It's also not unsustainably expensive since Public Goods pay for themselves over decades, esp. in sheer timesaving for general people.
@edwardtang19772 жыл бұрын
Only China has cheap HSR. And India spreads hate toward China.
@abirbo2 жыл бұрын
India doesn't need high speed trains now. What we need is gradual upgradation. First target should be to run all express trains at 180 kmh for almost the entire duration and not just in few stretches. Once that has been achieved, then high speed trains upto 250 kmh. On the third phase should have been above 250 kmh. Unfortunately, people doesn't think that way here and only interested in superficial show off keeping the underbelly still backward.
@VarunMe2 жыл бұрын
@@abirbo That's the worst plan of all. Attempting to upgrade infra based on a 2 century old tech at massive cost to stagger a modern cheaper more efficient solution is the height of bad planning. India is already nearing the stage in per capita PPP terms where Japan & esp. China were when they started their mass HSR projects. If China were to make their HSR in 2040s it would be nearly twice as expensive, same applies for India. The longer India delays mass, mega, big ticket infra then bigger the cost will be at that future setting, even worse if in the intermediate terms, something like upgradation of old infra is done. No place on this planet is more suited for HSR than India, not even China. Indian population density is distributed in nature, HSR should have happened 30 years ago in India when Japanese came in 80s.
@abirbo2 жыл бұрын
@@VarunMe Sorry, you are way way way off the mark! There is something called gradual progression which is completely absent in India! A country where the average speed of most of the trains are still around 80 kmh, is talking about implementing HSR in mass numbers! We Indians are famous for poor planning and you seem to like it. We have trains that are meant to run at 180 kmh, but actually runs at 130 mostly because of inadequate capabilities throughout the route. We have locomotives that has the potential to haul trains at 200 kmh, but doesn't have coaches and tracks to support that yet. We still have a large number of trains without vacuum toilet, but want to have HSR in mass numbers! Isn't that delusional? If you understand the meaning of gradual development or planned development, then you would first focus on improving/modernizing the existing capabilities and then invest on augmenting the capabilities or invest on newer capabilities. That's how nations develop. That's called building an ecosystem. But in India, there is a total absence of it. Because we can't plan! Lastly, the income inequality. If India is "nearing the PPP of Japan of 1960 and China of 2007", then why don't the railways make most of the trains fully AC? They can keep less than 15% NON AC or of mixed class since most of the people's earnings are rising anyway and they can afford higher fares. Isn't it? Building HSR in a country like India where the infrastructure is so poor, is just show off and a joke! It's the same as having a billion dollar high rise beside Asia's largest slum!
@VarunMe2 жыл бұрын
@@abirbo Governance is a different argument and I wasn't touching that since that's a given anyway. China too had slow speed trains, even less in number than India. Both China & India skipped many Tech & Finance layers, Modern FinTech is just that. RailTech can be skipped as well. China started it's HSR project by 2005, Indian per capita PPP is more than what China had then. And India is going to be spending over $100B in less than 2 decades on current Railways. A total waste of time, money and capacity. By 2040s onwards it's going to cost India twice if not thrice to construct HSR. Labor is not cheap perpetually. Which is why I mentioned, if even China were to do their HSR at the scale they started in 40s, it would cost them twice if not more. Make Public Goods Infra when you have the cheap labor and low overall cost because overtime expenses rise too prohibitively.
