Nah... Dryton is the nutz. It just sucks that they are special summon only. So they are severly limited in what they can do. But Fafnir(Field Spell) by itself is almost full combo. Also if Nova gets negated by Ash or something, you can activate a second one. Kinda broken. I play all three Rituals cause why not. DA D has a secret effect no one knows about, where if they somehow send it to the grave, you can get a ritual from deck for free and it's counted as a ritual summon. Also the other Ritual(Quadrantis) or whatever that no one plays, if it's summoned using LV 2 or lower monsters, hmmm can't imagine how that happens, gets to pop 2 cards on the opponents field. And can't forget Fafnir" (Xyz boy). That spell/trap negate is a miracle worker.

@@mattevans1643Draconids does that, not Quadrantids and it’s not his effect that has the material level requirement - Quadrantids is an ignition HFD. Quadrantids also usually isn’t worth inclusion. Also, Nova/Fafnir by itself is the worst combo the deck can pull off - folds to one handtrap and only sets up on interruption. It’s a last resort only kind of combo.

MBT is so right, the real problem with Yu-Gi-Oh isn't actually the price of the top decks or powercreep or any of that stuff. The real problem is actually that Nu II has text and that Nova doesn't negate the effects of the Drytrons that don't have any on-field effects prior to Nu-II.

Especially as a grad student in medical school, its been hard to find that passion but you make it seem so fun! the really sad part about drytron is not only that it loses to bystials, but also that it itself cannot really play bystials in full capacity due to the drytron summon lock.

I've been playing drytron a lot, and there's a lock? I never noticed. The only issue I see with the deck is that like Infernoid, they only Special, so it's kind of a huge issue. But unlike Infernoid, they don't dissapear from the game immediately.

@@mattevans1643 the old drytrons have the line of text: "You cannot Special Summon monsters, except monsters that cannot be Normal Summoned/Set, the turn you activate this effect." which means that bystial monsters in your hand are effectively just 2500 monarchs during your turn because you cannot special summon them. I learned this the ultra hard way when I learned that reasoning and monster gate cannot be activated after a drytron has resolved, making them unusable even though the usual drytron deck would benefit from these cards due to the low amount of summonable monsters by these cards' effects. You could still use bystial monsters; they would have to be exclusively hand traps for your opponent's turn.

i havent played in long enough to decay to silver and i have only faced tenpai, snake eye/ fire king, SHS, and so many horus engine smut fests that these look like the most brain dead and easy matches. silver really is a werid fucken place these days that it is worse than plat to be in.

If you tribute a benten to search lancea, they can banish the benten in response to negate the search. Still strong because the wasted at least 1 bystial in a card that's not imperative for your combo

Drytron lock u into summoning mons that can't be normal summoned or set. So by playing bystial, in most cases it basically a dead card in hand for a deck that's already bricky.

Because Beta doesn’t actually solve the main problem that Bystials cause - sure, it’ll retrieve it from banish, but the issue is that the Bystial banished it when it tried to activate and prevented it from resolving. So Beta will put it back in grave, but it’s effect is still dead and you really haven’t accomplished anything.
