This one I had to watch again just because it’s very interesting to myself being a born Harlem New Yorker. I actually almost moved into the same building Bumpy lived in with Mami on 120th & 5 the Ave. This is right across from the Marcus Garvey or as we OG’s would call it, Mount Morris Park. The apartment was too small and the entire apartments floor leaned to one side. I guess it was that old. The foyer though was elegant with decor and real plants and polished terrazzo floors.

You straightened that out for me , That was superb history - brilliantly told. My uncle Jerry could have given me the story but he passed on 40 years ago. You have probably seen the 7-up's ? I'm Kalish - Jerry worked for the Queen independently. He didn't get deported but the FBI took his Cord in 1942 and made him work in a war production factory. When the boys bring my packet i'll slip a few nickels up stairs.

Most get it wrong, but on purpose for entertainment value. The Irishman and American Gangster are almost purely fiction, the most realistic is still the Godfather which is why it's such a classic.

I’m from Durham NC. Matthews family was close by. Bumpy was a true gangster. He would help women pay their rent and never asked for it back. They say he was always putting back into the community. I love the history of Durham NC. Black Wall Street is real history. Check us out. We don’t speak of what we may know of course. Matthews knew best place to be was in their face 😉 love this channel. Bumpy is my great uncle. My grandfathers uncle. Took him under his wing while in Alcatraz. When it closed they got moved to Attica. I’m still lookin for more pictures of them together but they lived in two different states. Do yaw homework on “Charles Myles” ….
