This is an excellent doc that you've made. I grew up around some folks from the Kitchen. Much of what you've put in this doc, I had heard as a kid. They were the real deal killers. A former mobster said in a doc, "I would rather be surrounded by an army of Italian wise guys than two Westies." Detective Richie Egan called Mickey Featherstone "the most feared white man in NYC." Mickey would take on guys twice his size in fights and beat them within an inch of their lives. Coonan would just have to say he was going to sic Mickey on someone, and that was enough to get people in line. Their fearless and careless use of violence later brought on their demise as a crew.

Very interesting boss, I’ve never really studied The Westies so it’s very intriguing to get the scoop on it. Also, a future video on Roy Demeo and his crew would certainly be interesting. I first heard about Roy through The Iceman (but we all know he was a bullshitter)…I think I may have to read “Murder machine” along with the book Roy’s son wrote “For the sins of my father”

Would definitely recommend you read Murder Machine. You will get the real story (well as far as we know it.) If a movie is ever made about DeMeo and the Gemini Lounge we wont get an accurate portrayal because it would be too violent. But yeah read they books mate. 👍

Micky being assigned to a Battalion from one of the US Army's Special Forces Groups does not mean he was a Green Beret. It means he was assigned to a Special Forces Group. Yes, they wore a green beret like the guys on an A Team. That happened until the 1980s or maybe 1990s when a female soldier, assigned to one of the Groups, had become pregnant and the Group Commander and Group CSM saw her waddling around 9 months pregnant with the green beret on her head and they petitioned USASOC to assign those in support of the SF soldiers a red beret as they are in an airborne unit but not assigned to an SF team. Plus, mail clerk is not an MOS in the Army so Micky had another primary job there.
