Well, you should start by looking out for those from credible firms and good track records. Also, make sure the person is licensed. Personally, I use Michael, Allen Eckrich. He's good and you could also look him up too. And they're usually way cheaper than you would expect.

Great recap. I laughed last year when many of the KZbin watch ‘experts’ said Rolex was moving away from steel and would soon be an all precious metal brand, leaving steel for Tudor. As Marco illustrated, demand falls off a cliff. My advice to those of you frustrated with the wait to buy from the AD at MSRP; consider the two tone watches.

Great video! This move from Rolex is likely to bring more balance to the market. Historically precious metal models were always significantly below retail for the most part. First, the new retail prices are going to further discourage flippers. Second, availability of precious models is likely to improve, which in turn will bring desirability down. Human beings are strange creatures attracted to what is not available.

It's tough to say what the outlook/effect it will have long term. If I'm to speculate I think this definitely hurts rather than helps Rolex. The allure of Rolex - if we are being honest - for many buyers was the profit incentive. With the lack of premium on many of even their most popular models, I just don't see how many of these buyers keep buying. Just my opinion but we'll see what happens.. hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

It is considered ‘rare’ because there are very few mineable deposits, even though it is relatively common in the earths’ crust. You essentially answered your question - it’s harder to work with. The purpose of precious metals in watches is the ‘weight’, and platinum is heavier than gold. I have both yellow and white gold watches, and the platinum ones feel even more substantial. But what this has to do with ‘bang for your buck’ is opaque to me… (For me platinum delivers on mass. Hence, it gives more ‘bang for buck’ than gold.)

We'll see what happens but the allure of owning a lot of Rolex watches was the profit incentive if we are being honest. Rolex price increases may shift some of the grey-market profits to the Rolex P&L but reducing grey-market profits will likely also reduce available grey-market inventory, thus reducing Rolex sales.

But the thing is grey market dealers don't buy direct from Rolex. We buy from the general public/other dealers. So really this only hurts Rolex as especially the flippers will stop buying at the volume they were given so many models are trading under retail. Most dealers will not increase their prices on the secondary market because of the new prices. If they are smart, they will leave their current listings as is, hoping the increase from Rolex will promote a sale. TT Rootbeer and Guinness is not flipping above retail anymore, you know for sure. Don’t beat around the bush. New TT Daytona can be found at retail from what I see.

Rolexs business model sucks. Their higher than thou attitude... At the dealer is why people buy on the secretary market... no one wants to deal with them. They will actually tell you they don't have watches when they have plenty they make over a million of them a year. They have actually fueled the secondary market to where it's actually at now today by their own haughtiness. They should have controlled their market space...taking on the used and remarketed them. Companies like Mercedes are equally stupid and treat you like trash when you come into buy a car. Although I appreciate the brand Rolex and I like their watches... They are dated and have brought nothing new to the table. As a brand it's overrated and God bless all the resellers for taking hold of what Rolex was too proud to deal with. Your video sounds like a Rolex ad to discourage people from trying to buy or sell on the secondary market which is obviously not going to have it. Rolex forgot one thing... there is an endless sea of buyers of used material.

Totally fair analysis. I think with Rolex they have really perfected their product. When you look at a Submariner, how can you really improve it? Same can be said with almost all their model lines. But agreed regarding a lot of the crazy premiums people payed for Rolex was no doubt crazy.

I don't mind. Rolex simply closing the gap between retail and resell. Gold sub is for people with too much money and very little common sense anyway. Price increase should finally push resell on most steel models to zero profitability leaving enough watches for people buying to wear. I already have an offer for a new Sprite at 14K and see a lot of offers at 14.5 -15.5 on both Sprite and Batman/girl in new condition. after price increase that would be a store price after taxes. No more quick flips and no more crooked AD selling watches on secondary market.

Well the issue is mainly that Rolex increased prices so much there really is little to no premium at all for their watches. Everything sold at ADs when everything sold over retail but now that that is no longer the case, we'll see just how strong the Rolex brand is...

This is not going to end well. Luxury is WAY DOWN in 2024. Mansions are not moving. Luxury car sales have plunged back to reality. I'm literally laughing hearing that Rolex buyers think these are buy at AD retail signals. These are flaming arrows to AVOID new larded up prices. And this entire pricing scheme is based on one market prediction and one only: that the economy is going to improve. There are just as many credible data points to suggest we're at the end of business cycle and not at beginning of a strong multi year run like we've had going into 2024. If the economy hits a considerable bump people buying at the new overpricing are going to get shreded because the secondary marker is awash in nearly mint conditon Rolex sports watches that have already taken a huge beating. Overpricing of new Rolex is absolutely fantastic for the owners of the Rolex company and run for your life warning ⚠️ for potential buyers. I think Rolex are just going for a last ditch fleecing of the segment of Luxury buyers who aren't looking at prices and just want to be the first at the country club wearing the exclusive references. Especially after so many people have all of the sudden started getting AR calls that you no longer have to wait a year to buy a watch. There's nothing Rolex can do for the rest of the Luxury market who have to buy with logic and reason but to see if they take the bait.

It's tough to say what the outlook/effect it will have long term. If I'm to speculate I think this definitely hurts rather than helps Rolex. The allure of Rolex - if we are being honest - for many buyers was the profit incentive. With the lack of premium on many of even their most popular models, I just don't see how many of these buyers keep buying. Just my opinion but we'll see what happens.. hope you enjoyed this video 🙏

@@MarcoFerranteWatches Stop making these videos, you have nothing to gain…😉 You have a business behind you, which you have to adhere to when it comes to prices, in the opposite corner, you have the end users. Problem is, even if the prices you mentioning, is reflecting your business listings, it has become super easy for end users now days, to find and report on the trade prices, and also purchase at trade prices. At the same time, end users are telling each other about the lowball offers they get from secondary dealers, which does not help their case. A good example is the 126619LB The price you are referring to, is a year old. These are listing now at 30-31k and, honestly, I bet your company won’t be buying any, unless it’s part of a trade, where the value will be mid 20’s. It’s a lose-lose situation making these videos, so show us some rare and interesting inventory instead (not Rolex)
