Why does he say "You came in FIRST!" like he's about to play a practical joke on you?

Because you just played one of the worst racing games on the Playstation. So he sort of did play a joke on you.

____ Does the 'rally' / driving experience change depending on weather conditions ( 6:59 ) ? ____ That requisite rally racing technique you mentioned : Are you referring to simple use of handbrake or a bit more via Scandinavian-flicking? Does technique involve more than simply turning-in immmediately prior / during application of the handbrake? I'm curious as to if there's any redeeming value in utilizing this title in its system serial link operation between a pair of connected PS1s for some focused technique "shake 'em up" arcade racer style teaching of techniques albeit in a likely gross, sloppy way but as long as it may be an appreciable experience that predominantly focuses on technique, I see some value alongside my other linked systems and single-system racing titles. ____ It could be another title I would experience using an add-on PS1+2 systems handbrake handle setup I'm making from an automotive salvage yard handbrake apparatus and daisy-chaining programmable controller signal injector which, electrical feasibility testing has shown, works great for ~ driver's PoV racing, for example, in GTs 1 & 2 and V-Rally 2. It offers great, intuitive initiation and follow through of a slide for a level of immersion that hardware back then just didn't have outside of maybe mapping the handbrake to a steering wheel button or shifter knob. ____ By the way, "Thanks!" for that Rally Cross soundtrack upload - a musical gem and I didn't know that it was one of the titles that would play its music from a CD player (as per the comments) !

No, this game's controls are terrible. You don't have to initiate a slide. I don't think there is a handbrake button. Your car just slides. All the vehicles feel like they're racing on ice all the time and doesn't change one bit due to weather conditions. This is a very bad racing game wrapped in Daytona USA graphics. It's not fun in the slightest, believe me I tried to have fun. Stay away! Now a game that truly is great, that's Rally Cross.

OldsXCool , Mmm, that Rally Cross sndtrk ... Can't say much about the driving experience as I've never driven it but I"ll be makin' its soundtrack part of the driving playlist alongside OutRun, etc. for those times I'd like something else to listen to instead of in-game music. Thanks for that! For the sense of speed and darn good driving controls especially for the PS1 from a driver's / hood / bonnet PoV, I'll submit V-Rally 2, GT1 & 2, Touring Car Challenge: ToCA2 (NTSC-U) ( all work great with aforementioned handbrake lever) and a few Formula racers but their soundtracks... I can't recall but will likely peruse them eventually, making a custom home arcade music list. Rally Cross' music is a pleasant surprise to me.

I have seen opponents wreck either by barreling head-on into a wall or the player squeezing them in there, usually by accident. Have you seen the sequel, Explosive Racing? Pretty much literally exactly the same but more of it. Some tracks even have active obstacles (the snowplow on the South Pole, the San Francisco cable cars) that cause an instant crash for any vehicle, human or AI.

Yikes! I didn't know that a sequel of this turd of a game existed. It wasn't released in my region. It looks like it plays just as bad as the first one lol!

And it's from the same developer behind the equally craptastic Soul Fighter on Dreamcast, namely French-based company Toka.

+AlviEao You're not kidding. I just looked up all of the games they're responsible for. Craptastic for sure.

Lol no it isn't! Trust me, I really tried to like it.

I'd like to know what capture device you're using, cheers!
@OldsXCool4 жыл бұрын
It's definitely nothing special especially by today's standards. It's made by Sabrent, but it's the exact same capture device as the EZ-cap. I really don't recommend it as it's a huge pain to get decent quality with. It made capturing footage like pulling teeth especially with PS1 because the capture software it came with would not capture PS1 footage due to some DRM so I had to use Virtual Dub to capture it which only makes AVI files that are massive in size, then compress them with Handbrake, then edit the capture in Windows Movie Maker. If you're serious about capturing footage, don't go super cheap. It may cost you your sanity.

Sega wins the trophy of dumbest videogame company of the world that they were out of the console market (and even of videogames if it wasn't for the generosity of one guy)
