Sooo much awesomeness in this video! First of all, thanks for the shout out! 12.95 a piece... that's a steal to say the least! I've never seen those before but would definitely buy them all up for that price for myself and the family to use for exactly this, they're perfect for it! That's one powerful Glock 23, that had to have been at least two shots though 😂 People around here are still struggling finding toilet paper so these would be perfect for hiding my stash 😉

I'm thinking that for the low price, these tubes could have other uses as well. The way they seal, would be good place to store food. Imagine shelves full of them in a room all filled with staple foods, jerky, flour, whatever. Wouldn't the Feds freak seeing about 100 of them all in one room lined up. A fake cannon to "shoot" them in would blow their minds.

can't shoot a buried gun: I bury only HALF of them, keep the other half at-hand incase you need to fight instead of "feign compliance". Give em an old junker gun, too, whilst keeping those "at-hand" guns hidden, and keep the other half incase you meet a likeminded family whose guns were found (and confiscated) or for yourself, if your own "at-hand" guns are discovered.

Suggest you grease the locking lug screws heavily with RIG or similar protective grease and place a heavy plastic bag over the end to keep dirt off of them. You can seal the bag to the tube with rubber sealing tape as well. Be aware by placing the tube horizontally, you greatly increase its signature to a metal detector. If you place it vertical, it'll be much smaller to the detector. Putting a bag over it will help about ponding of water in the top. Dry any water from the top area before unsealing the top. Also suggest greasing the rubber seal with silicone based grease. If you can't pull the lid out, try warming up the cylinder. There may be a vacuum inside due to cold. Grease ald lub your weapons before storage.

@@mikhailkalashnikov4599 Find a tire shop that offers nitrogen for car tires. They will have a nitrogen compressor separator. Take an air tank to said same outlet, charge the tank, bring it back to the house and fill your canister and or other container with the nitrogen. Nitrogen is only ever so slightly lighter than air so with the valve open put hose in the bottom of the container for a minute or two to displace the air that's in it then quickly remove and reseal. If the container has a large opening place the lid over it only allowing the hose to stick in you will lose less nitrogen and seal it quicker that way. If you are storing food like wheat barley corn dried vegetables Etc we would drill two holes in said container and install Schrader valves we would charge one valve with nitrogen and bleed off the second one then cap, and this is good for storing food 20-plus years in an air tight container. I forgot to add that for food we would pull a vacuum, not much, on the container through one of the Schrader valves with a converted refrigerator compressor. You could use a small vacuum pump like they use on auto air conditioning.

Yeah, FREEZER BAGS of THICK clear plastic (11" wide) are way better, and govt agents w/metal detectors will cover LARGE areas of forest and be able to detect his thick metal case. I just use hard-plastic (up-side-down, to keep rainwater diverted...and so your own shovel does no damage if ya hit it, whilst digging it back up) as a 2nd barrier. A lighter+steel ruler gets the freezer-bag to stick to itself along a straight line, without damaging the rest of the bag (the steel ruler wicks-away the heat...) i.e. "plastic welding" as all thermo-plastics are capable of.

The transition is taking longer than anticipated due to budgets, ammunition shortage and many agencies still have armory full of 40 caliber. When you dig it up you'll have to cut the top of the pipe off, but I don't think I'd trust the screw on ones. I'd also probably buy a big bottle of silica gel beads and put those in there. Even then I'd probably coat the gun in a liberal ammout of grease.

One bit of advice from recent experience. If you are inclined to utilize the described canisters, for safety sake, advise someone that you trust implicitly with the knowledge of what and where you have secured whatever you left in them. I had a relative die a couple of months ago, came down with something that required hospitalization and it went sour and he never came out. No one in the family was entrusted with the location of his "alledged'" collection of equipment and as far as anyone can currently find, he had NONE at the time of his demise.

They used different number of bags to fire a projectile depending on the range to the target. As a military contractor we used these cans to store all kinds of contaminated/decontaminated materials and toxic military chemicals. They do have a long life span and don't get brittle and deteriorate in sunlight. At $12.95 each they were an absolute bargain.

Since mine had scratched paint outside, I gave it a new coat of some tough spay-on bed liner ( for pickup truck beds ). 2.) Your guns and metal goodies will rust if you do not use oxygen and moisture absorbers. Also, I used argon gas to purge all air out of the tube. You can use argon or nitrogen gas ( available from welding supply stores ) to slowly, but thoroughly flush all air/oxygen from the container. It only takes a handful of minutes to do it. 3.) Definitely bury it horizontal or, vertical with the cap at the bottom.

I did it in 2015, this year (2020) I dug one out and everything was as fresh as the day I buried it. I would suggest using the schedule 40 for the extra thickness of the piping walls, which also give extra strength.

You can get 10’ x 6” Schedule 80 PVC along with 3 caps, 3 threaded adapters, and 3 plugs for under $80; that’s enough to make 3 tubes of 3 1/3’. They can be hidden in a lot of places and both air and water tight. You can do the same thing with 3” or 4” Sch. 4) pipe and hide it in plain sight. I have a friend the built a blind clean out in their drain system, that’s a dry section behind actual draining items; he keeps a shotgun slid in on a rope as well as a pistol, some ammo, and cash (I guarantee no one is looking in your sanitary pipes, unless they know something is there).

The only downside I would point out would be if they look for them with metal detectors. Then there is no way to hide it unless you bury it down really deep. I'd recommend if you put them in your house that you put a layer of sheet metal over the floor under the floorboards. When "The Man" rips up the floor looking after the metal detector goes off he'll give up when he discovers the sheet metal layer. You can also bury them under concrete, like under your new driveway repaving, for real long term storage. Nobody searching your house would guess to look there. :-) For that matter, find a new commercial development under construction, sneak in at night just before they are going to pour the parking garage concrete, and bury them a few feet under the ground there. If you ever need to retrieve your supplies it might take some work, but you can rest assured they'll be safe there after the concrete is poured.

One thing to note is that I live rurally. There is a ton of "trash metal" in the ground. Old fence posts, discarded mattress springs, etc will keep a metal detector singing. Tons of false signals.

Suggestion; dig a hole with an auger or post hole digger, about 18 inches deeper than you need, put the cannister in upside down so the lid doesn't hold water. After you insert it into the hole, find some VERY rusty piece of sheet metal. Knock a lot of the rust off and mix with a cubic foot of dirt and put it on top of the cannister and tamp it in well so it isn't looser than the soil around it. Now place the piece of sheet metal on top of that and put more dirt on top of that and camo it with duff. When it's time to find it, use a metal detector. If someone else comes sniffing around with a metal detector and get a hit, they'll dig a few inches and find the sheet metal. If they're a good dirt fisherman they'll recheck the hole. When they pull out a handful of dirt they'll get another hit because of the rust you mixed in with the dirt. They might check it once more and most likely figure it's just junk and investigate no futher.

Go looking for the equivalent powder canisters from the older 8" (203mm) howitzers. These went out of service in the US in the mid- to late-1990s IIRC, so I have no idea of the availability of the surplus cans in today's market, but they were significantly larger in diameter (8" vs. 6") and in length. There should be two lengths of both 155mm and 8" powder cans around, for different powder compositions.

Great video. But when it comes to storage I would suggest getting hold of a vacuum pack machine like a Food Saver and vacuum pack everything. The handgun can be packed loaded with a full magazine along with spare loaded magazines. Ziploc bags with a gun and loose ammo will be subject to condensation which will ruin both in the long term. A small bag is great but where is a survival kit and some food for a really catastrophic situation. Water purification systems and bladder storage is critical. Great containter, great cache, great idea but can be expanded on somewhat.
