The must visit places in gyeongju are 동궁과 월지(donggung palace and wolji pond), 불국사(bulguksa temple), and 첨성대(cheomseongdae observatory). The palace is very famous for the night view so I recommend you visit the temple and observatory in the morning and the palace at night. These destinations are THE places Korean students visit on school trips so everyone in Korea have visited them at least once in their school years. I hope you could see all of them and learn about the rich history Gyeongju has to offer about the Silla Dynasty. Have a nice trip!

GyeongJu is the city I went for my high school field trip. Back in the 80s. Lol. It is very historic city where it was a capital of ancient Korean kingdom called Shilla founded more than 2000 years ago. You gotta go visit those royal tombs. And a Buddhist temple called BulKukSa as well as SeokGulAm. Enjoy!

Bulguksa(불국사) temple is very famous and nice place to walk and look around. Chunmachong천마총 in Daeneongwon대릉원 is a must visit place. It's a Toomb you can walk in and very pleasant place to take a walk. Nightview of Dong-goong and walji 동궁과 월지 is beautiful. Have a nice trip.

Wow you really went to the Gyeongju!!! Fanatastic!!! The representative places of Gyeongju are Bulguksa Temple, Cheomseongdae, Donggung & Wolji, Woljeonggyo (Cheomseongdae, Donggung & Wolji, and Woljeonggyo are recommended for evening and night), Daereungwon, Bomundanji, Hwangridan-gil as a date spot, Hill of Hwarang, Gyochon Village, House of Mr. Choi the Richest People (worthy of life lesson) etc..... It would be good to appreciate the curve of beauty of the hanok and royal tombs that appear. Above all, the positive attitude and smile of the two of you is even more wonderful to us~~~Have a good journey

Yes, that's the problem. We call it Seongsugi which is the high season. The price goes up like crazy especially on saturdays. I also had to pay the unreasonable(I feel) price on last saturday in the south coast area. Btw, I'd recommend you guys to visit the National Museum in Gyoungju. The city as you might know was the capital of Silla Dynasty and more than half of the golden crowns of the world came from the Silla Dynasty. Bulguksa temple, Anapji pond(you can see lots of the lotus flowers) is highly recommended. Have a great time guys.🌸🌸🍀

Wow, that is quite an incredible fact about the golden crowns! Is it very common for Koreans to do short weekend trips? Many places have high season but we have never observed such a huge spike on just Saturdays!

Please visit the royal tombs that date back all the way to Shilla Kingdom! It'd also be cool to see Tia or Cheveyo dress up in hanboks as well as you tour the historic sites! Also highly recommend 한정식 (han jeongsik, korean style table d'hote that comes with tens of various upscale side dishes and main foods (prepared from the sea, land, and air) at places like Yosokkong. Even if it's a bit pricey, it's the pinnacle of traditional Korean food (versus fried banchans).

There is so much to see here and especially everything you mentioned. This place is more about what’s around it for certain. Traveled several times to every place you’ve mentioned and it just gets better and better with every trip. Cheomseongdae in fall season when the fields are pink, is truly a site of wonder.

As a transplant from Seoul to CA, I miss Seoul so much. So thank you for your video. Enjoyed your video clips, you seem to be focused on nature and sightseeing and budget trip. If you trip to Korea, you could enjoy a lot more in Seoul and other cities. There are a lot of aesthetic and "unique" cafes, unique book stores, and museums (might be against budget trip), you may research and try more that you would not want to miss things while being in S Korea.

For a thousand years Gyeongju had been the capital of Shilla, the first country to unify the Korean Peninsula. But the Mongol invasion in the 13th century and other wars have pretty much destroyed the whole city. Bulguksa temple has been restored to its former state and Seokgulam shrine nearby is one of the best preserved stone-built structure in the country. These two, I would say, are the must-see landmarks of the city. The royal tombs, the palace ruins, and Cheomseongdae (the observatory) are all located within the walking distance from the city center and are worth a visit if you have time. Bulguksa & Seokgulam are a bit far from the city center though. If you want to experience nature, Namsan (South Mountain) is a good place to hike. Anyhow, thanks for the video. Greatly enjoyed it!

I feel like Gyeongju really shines if you love the history of ancient Korea! Gyeongju is actually called Seorabeol in the past, the capital of Silla, which is one of the three kingdoms of ancient Korea. That is also why you can find many tombs of legendary Silla rulers in this area, such as Queen Seon-duk and General Kim Yu-sin!

Here's more handy tips. Seokguram is a small cave and you have to climb a mountain, but you cannot take pictures inside Seokguram. Gyeongju is the capital of the Silla dynasty, one of the three countries, and it will be more interesting if you study the history a little and see. If you go to Gyeongju National Museum and Cheonmachong, you can take pictures with highly sophisticated crafts and relics inside. It will be worthwhile to appreciate the ancient artefacts. It's not an advertisement. Personally, among cafes, CAFFE MAPLE in Gyeongju was very very cozy and well decorated. Have a happy and enjoyable trip~~~

If you like red bean desserts definitely check out Gyeonju Bread (hwangnam pang), which is like the specialty of the area. You can find it near the big tombs and stuff everyone goes to Gyeongju for. When I visited the two dishes I ate the most were milmyeon (cold noodles in a vinegary savory broth) and jjajangmyeon (noodles in brown pork sauce). I also did like a multi-course royal dinner thing where you sit in a private room with a view of a garden. I didn't pay for it and I imagine it's quite pricey, but I would look it up because it was quite an experience!

Reason none of the hotels you guys stayed in Korea asking for ID is probably because you guys always stay at “love hotel”, which I noticed on your videos. All “real” hotels ask for ID and sometimes make a copy. Staying at a love hotels probably is a good economic options but downside could be their locations. If you don’t mind spending more time walking and on transit to get to popular spots and are on a budget, then yeah, why not?
