As someone who lives in a tropical country, I can't believe I'd reached 30 y.o. without getting hit by a coconut. And I used to nap a lot underneath tall coconut trees. Or maybe the reason I had such nice naps is because I got knocked unconscious by a coconut and didn't notice lol

Hey man! love the video - super cool stuff. One thing I did want to mention - you said at 43:27 that sprouted coconuts are no good for eating. On the contrary, sprouted coconuts are actually a delicacy in many island communities, usually being reserved for the Chief alone. When the coconut sprouts, It consumes all of the water to put energy towards growing. This leaves a soft, spongy interior (sort of a ball) with a texture similar to cotton candy/candyfloss. It tastes sweet and light when the sprout is still relatively new (under 6in) and they're perfect for eating. Just thought I'd let you know for the future, in case you come across one again! Keep it up man

One thing I've seen, but never been stuck on an island to try, is when you cut that palm for the Heart of Palm, you could have hollowed out the stump. The plants roots will continue to push water up and will fill the hollowed out stump with drinkable water. You could keep going back to it.

Yes but it's more realistic he leaves it in with no bullshit, because this is how it would actually be. There's tons of survival vids where they make everything themselves already. What I thought was actually taking away from the video wasn't that, but the abundance of coconuts and mangos on this island. It's clear that this is an ultra hospitable environment (and likely he knew that as well) Because coconuts are a guaranteed source of carbohydrates and water, he didn't need to actually worry about dying. So there wasn't any suspense However I still enjoyed the video and found it relaxing

Just a tip, when opening a coconut, start cutting from the bottom of the coconut because you can reach the tough shell faster from the bottom, not the opposite side where the coconut stem is on, because from there is just thick layer of husk. You can reach the shell with just 2 or 3 strikes from the bottom of the coconut

for some one who wanted to camp under a coconut tree, make sure that the coconut doesnt have a fruit... thats the most unsafe place to camp for a night.. also a tip for eating a coconut without a spoon, you can use its husk to make a shaver like the shell he used, just slash the side of the coconut husk, tho it wont work if the coconut is too hard..

That old light bulb could be used to boil water in a pinch. As a kid I used to use them as makeshift flasks for chemistry. The metal part unscrews from the glass portion. From there, you thoroughly rinse out the dusty coating on the inside, leaving crystal clear glass that tolerates high temperatures for boiling water. You'd just need a reliable container to keep it steady so it doesn't fall over while boiling.

I believe that nut you found @12:20 is a candlenut, which is edible (when cooked and in small qty's) and also useful for other purposes (for example, used as a candle). Hard to say without seeing the tree.

Mango seeds can be eaten too. The unripe ones are easier to process. Flour, roasted, or raw. Great nutrition.

*You disregarded a delicious sprouted coconut. And you could have used the net and a bamboo shoot to catch some fish. Lots of missed opportunities to make your stay a bit more pleasant.*

The way to get a coconut down is to not push it. Make a hook at the end of the pole and hook it to the stem of the coconut and pull it. Also, the sprouted coconut is good to eat.

Nets aren’t actually effective in an ocean unless you’re able to gather a-lot of fishes in a small area by throwing tons of bait. Or you can use that bait to fish traditionally.
