One thing I did want to mention before was prices do seem to drop during the summer on Amazon and Ebay. I really noticed more of a difference in price on Ebay during summers, but I'm beginning to see avg prices coming down a bit on Amazon, but not nearly as much. 🎉

Awesome almost first half of the year. I'm curious, what does Amazon (or you) consider to be a damaged set? Is it more than a small crease for example?
@BrickDomain5 ай бұрын
Thanks! I’ve been sending in sets that have creases, but if it’s crushed or has a hole in the box, I’m not sending those in. So far I haven’t had any issues, they definitely don’t have to be in mint condition. I also don’t think buyers on Amazon are generally as concerned with the box condition.

What is the number of sets or number of dollar threshold per year you think some one should transition from ebay to amazon is?
@BrickDomain5 ай бұрын
Honestly, I think at any scale you could transition. If you move less than 40 sets per month, then I’d start with the individual plan. That is free and you just pay an extra dollar per set you sell. So that will have a larger impact on smaller sales/set, but not much for more expensive sets. The selling prices you can get on Amazon are generally significantly higher than eBay, even if you sell FBM. In hindsight, I would have started selling on Amazon much sooner now that I’ve seen that it’s not as scary as some make it out to be.

I thought you can’t sell lego with the individual plan because it doesnt let you ungate unless you have a professional account?

I will be interested to see how your journey with Amazon goes. I am too small and have too many 1 offs to make that viable, but might be worth adjusting my strategy 🤷🏼♀️

Thanks for sharing your sales number, it helps me a lot to undersand your business model and inspires me to do so :) I'm french, and I recently applied to become an Amazon FBM seller, but I then discovered some Amazon criterias that stopped me from doing it, specially this 2 : min 10 units bought and bring an invoice. I wonder, is it he same in the US? Do you think it's better to go directly to FBA?

That's quite a lot of sales, very impressive. Do you make buyers pay shipping for eBay or do you usually specify free shipping?
@BrickDomain5 ай бұрын
Thanks! When I’m selling sets for my desired profit targets, I have my listings set for the buyer to pay shipping. But when I’m clearing out under performers, I typically offer free shipping to get that boost above other listings that don’t have free shipping. Generally speaking though, the conversion around free shipping or no free shipping is arbitrary to me. At the end of the day the buyer is paying for shipping, either your price is higher to accommodate that or it’s not.

@@theyoungcapitalist to be able to sell on Amazon, you have to create an Amazon seller account, once you have been approved, you apply to sell LEGO branded products. There isn’t a restriction on how much volume you have to sell, just need to provide the documentation they ask for when applying for approval to sell LEGO branded products

After going through the Amazon seller account creation process, you’ll need to submit an invoice showing you bought 10 units of a LEGO set. I don't know why but my gut feeling tells me to skip this year. Last year was too good and TLG may conjure up some new tricks screwing up the aftermarket. The sudden extension of many popular SW sets should be a hint. Besides the Minecraft and Ninjagos retiring this year are so bad.
@BrickDomain5 ай бұрын
I’m personally very excited for this year, notably much less competition on selling platforms & plenty of great sets I’m liking for investing this year. With the economy still not at its best, I’m expecting some good sales in Q4 again this year. I’m not sure what else LEGO could pull besides more extensions. The biggest concern I have for LEGO investing this year is the lingering stock from retailers after retirement. Unfortunately there’s no way for us to know what sets will be impacted, but the best ways we can combat this is by focusing on store exclusives, especially Target, and by continuing to buy at great prices to insure yourself incase a set you invest in lasts awhile on shelves after retirement.
@rdyt05 ай бұрын
@@BrickDomain OK, I see. It's just the buying and selling landscape in my country is completely different from NA. We don't have store or Target exclusives. Heck we don't even buy from Lego website because there isn't any. All of our sources are either from distributors(bulk) or online retail platforms. And the aftermarket demand has somewhat declined over the past few years(too many hoarders during covid). Looks like the investing experience varies quite a bit from different regions.
