Business Insider spoke to Jody Shield, a meditation guru and author, about techniques to relieve stress.
She explained her "tapping" exercise, which she uses to "tap on the feelings of being overwhelmed and stressed out."
The exercise consists of a series of tapping movements on various parts of the body to be done while repeating both negative and positive sentences like "I feel stressed out and overwhelmed" or "I choose to relax."
Jody Shield is the author of "LifeTonic: A Modern Toolkit to Heal Your Life and Soothe Your Soul" (jodyshield.co.uk/book/). She is also a speaker, a meditation ambassador for Lululemon UK, and an intuitive mentor.

Yes, and my experience is that if I do it every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, my body starts getting in the habit of relaxing more and more. I have years of practice holding stress, so my hope is that with this practice. Along the CBT and meditation, I can train my mind and body to have a lower stress set point.

To doubters, don't knock it until you've tried it. To those who have tried it and did not feel any benefits, it's just not for you. To those who are wondering, it cannot hurt to try. No damage will be done. If it's all placebo, who cares? If you feel better and benefit, it doesn't matter. You feel better and you benefitted. The mind-body connection is so powerful that something like 30 to 35% of healing can be attributed to placebo. And to those who just want to go negative based on no useful information, knock yourself out if that gives you the dopamine hit you crave.

Reliving anxiety (negative tapping) *tap on the outside edge of your left hand* “Even though I feel stressed out and overwhelmed I deeply and completely accept who I am and how I feel” *tap of the beginning of either eyebrow* “I’m stressed it and overwhelmed” *tap beside the eye* “I’ve got so much going on” *tap underneath the eye* “I’m being bombarded with stuff” *tap on the top lip* “And it’s really stressing me out” *tap on chin* “I’ve got so much on my plate right now” *hand in fist and tap on the v* “I can’t see what to do next” *tap under the arm* “I can’t think clearly” *tap on your head* “I’ve got to much going on my life” (Positive tapping) *tap on eyebrow* “I choose to relax now” *tap on the side of the eye* “I choose to feel calmer now” *tap under the eye* “I choose to surrender now” *tap on top lip* “I choose to relax now” *tap on chin* “I choose to find some space” *tap on v* “I choose to surrender now” *under the arm* “I choose to find peace” *tap on the head* “I choose to relax” (Close your eyes and take a really nice deep breath in and release)

The time is 5.15 pm. I have heard about EFT tapping just half an hour before, and I was searching for more about it on youtube. I am watching this video right now and following the instructions on how to do it. I remember I was suffering from a headache since I had my lunch in the afternoon. And it's gone..! no symptoms of headache. Wow.. It was a miracle. Thanks a lot..

I recently got new baby chickens and they keep falling off of either a human, a stool, or a nightstand. They’ve gotten used to me, and i’ve been playing the role of “mom”. Whenever they fall, I feel like it’s my fault, even when it’s just them being clumsy. This really helped me relax and remind myself that there’s no reason to be stressed. Thank you so much. Sorry that was so long, I had to get it off my chest. Also can you make one for guilt? (P.S. they don’t get hurt, and if they do, it’s minor and they just brush it off)

I noticed when k do Qi gong tapping it really helps, it’s almost magical... how can something so gentle be so powerful?
