The meals you show are well balanced and tasty, a bag of chips is not going to do anything, people just like to complain and criticize. You do awesome ❤❤. I wish I ate that healthy. My mom had 7, and she said by the time she had my brother, ❤who was the 6th, she was having trouble with milk production, but they didn't have all the research they do now.

The same people criticizing you for feeding your family snacks of chips are the same people who buy and eat (and feed their kids) hot pockets, pizza egg rolls, uncrustables, and make a couple trips each week through the Drive-thru and drink $7 venti cold foam lattes. You cook everything from scratch and are scrupulous with what you buy and serve for your family meals. They're just envious of you. I love your food and grocery hauls.

I'm 64 now, but I also nursed 5 babies (twins too!) and I found that those growth spurts came on the "3s", meaning: 3 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and a year. I found the best thing (and the hardest for mommies) is lots of rest, nourishing food and fluids, and most importantly: let that baby nurse as often as he/she wants. More nursing=increased milk supply. As good as pumps are nowadays, babies are still the best pumps! Nurse til he's full, and then still pump afterwards too, and help during those difficult times. And once they are on solids, nurse first when he's really hungry and then offer solids afterwards. These are just the things that helped me. You yourself being a nurse and experienced mother will figure out what works for you and your little fellow.

If you add a dash of vinegar when boiling the bone broth, it will extract more collagen, gelatin & other nutrients such as minerals. The vinegar is acidic & helps break down tissues to release these nutritive substances.

For the milk tips: drink a lot, including some beer. After 6 months, milk supply is naturally decreasing, corresponding to the time you start introducing food. It all makes sense. Go with the flow, do not worry . As for your response to comment about your food choice: brilliant. You are absolutely right: everything in moderation, once in a while is more positive than you think. American people have difficulties with “moderation” generally….

Sonya my biggest tip regarding milk supply is to pump 5 minutes past being empty. I nursed & pumped for my triplets and had a significant oversupply even for triplets. It can help stimulate the body to make more instead of maintaining the current or decreasing. I was so thirsty all the time I had large cups of ice water at my bedside and next to where I nursed & pumped. Best wishes to you and your sweet family. ❤

I love overnight oatmeal, especially in the summer because it's a cold cereal, not cooked. Half a cup of oatmeal, half a cup of oat milk or almond milk, then add in raisins, berries, or nuts to taste, and refrigerate overnight. I also add a tablespoon of powdered peanut butter. You can also make it with regular milk instead of a nut milk if you prefer.

This sounds crazy, but my doc was a really old man. He had me drink 1 really hoppy beer per day, for 1 week, to bump up my supply. I have no idea if it is studied, but I do know I was to drink the beer immediately after nursing, as not to risk any alcohol in my next feeling's supply. Obviously, it isn't enough to be intoxicated, but it seemed to work. We got over the hump & I went on to do that with each of my 4 babies if I dipped.

I struggled to keep my milk supply up with my last baby. (I worked full-time also.) The simple fact is that our bodies get worn out. I worked on increasing my protein, resting at home as much as I could (since I had lots of kiddos at home too) and letting my baby nurse as much as he wanted. I was able to successfully nurse as long as my doctor suggested, but I have to admit it was a challenge. Remember to be good to yourself; take care of yourself ❤❤. You're doing great. COSTCO - that store was made for Sonya’s Prep, they have giant everything! For single me I always struggle to use stuff fast enough! I am an no expert on lactation by far, however, a friend once shared that consuming beer has a positive effect on milk supply! In the middle ages, water could be unsafe to drink so even new moms were drinking beer with their breakfasts! Grateful boys have no such worries! Moms rock! Cheers, Michael Albuquerque NM USA

I used to work at a dairy and they always fed alfalfa to the cows to increase the milk production. So when I had my babies I always ate alfalfa sprouts. I had rich creamy milk. I also was told to drink beer. However I did not feel like that was healthy so I made barley soup. I think the beer was just extra liquid and maybe the barley adds something too. So instead of alcohol I had a delicious soup. I have four children and nursed for more than six years all together.

I once bought a 25-lb. bag of brown rice a few years ago, either at Sam's or Costco (I think the latter). It got buggy. 🤮No freezer then, now I have two large chest freezers and one dedicated stand-up. Flour and grains (I mill a lot of my own flour) go in the freezer now. White flour's usually not a bug problem but the flour stays in better shape in the freezer.

I fully agree everything in moderation. I believe showing children how to eat that way allows them to learn how make good choices with little treats sprinkled in.

Yes, in my church community we bring meals to new parents, and for other less happy events. When my dad died, we had so much food brought to us, we needed help to eat it all.

Hi Sonya! When I make my bone broth, I roast some vegetables with the bones along with some wine. I then cook the broth in my electric roaster. I do add some fresh vegetables when I cook it in the roaster. I usually cook the broth for 12-24 hours. It comes out great. I pressure can it so it has shelf life. I bought an electric pressure canner to do this more easily. My niece is a chef and she’s the one who suggested that I roast the vegetables. Love your videos and recipes! I don’t know how you do it all!!

I just realized (for those who sprout) that Sprout People has a sprout mix for nursing mothers. Also, it seems to me that tahini might increase milk production, so maybe some halvah?

To bring your milk supply up…..let your baby nurse more often. (Or pump even when nothing is coming out, to simulate this) Even letting your baby stay latched on and use you as a comfort or to go to sleep ….It tells your body there’s a greater demand, and your body will eventually come up usually 3 to 7 days, and then you can go back to the schedule of further apart, feedings, but there will be more milk at each feeding. (mom/midwife here)

Try tapioca pearls....they certainly work! You can make pudding or just soak overnight in water, drain and eat that with milk and fruits and nuts.

Hello Dear; I am also a nursing mom with my 4th and what works for me is just leave the baby on breast even if nothing comes out; in a few days it will come more; this always works out for me and I end up with to much :)

In the Netherlands it’s a tradition to eat a biscuit with pink or blue Sprinkles (depending on the gender of the baby). They taste sweet with anise. The anise helps for milk supply. breastfeeding tea helped me a lot, no caffeine and lots of vegetables and fruit to stay hydrated. Good luck Sonya !

Sugar cane is amazing for milk supply. If you can get pure/natural sugar cane juice from juice shops, or the sugar cane stick.
