I so agree, MTB races have the best environment and support! Great ride, it is a balance of carrying enough water and not adding too much weight.

Right. And actually to continue to eat and drink and adjust to (unplanned) climate. Once I hit bottom there was just no coming back. Whoops. Lesson learned. Force it even when you’re not feeling hungry or thirsty. I usually try to stick to eating and drinking every 20-30. I was just brain rotted. Hahaha

I'm so glad you're okay! And I really appreciate how many people offered you some of their water. That was so kind.

Me too. Man it was hot. I have never drank so much water!

Still super grateful you talked me into this race, so much fun! And so hard! There’s no way it was only 87 out there, not convinced. It was way hot. So proud of you, what a badass to make it to the finish!

Lo, that was stellar. I'm impressed by your ability to handle chunky technical climbs and decents at speed. As for endurance and cramping, gutting it out is all you can do. So, well done! Looking forward to your next adventure!

Thanks so much. We are learning. I for one was not expecting that heat (I should know better) 🤣

I really enjoyed watching this, the on bike commentary, the stage explanations, and the post ride summary are great. I'm not in any way a KZbin expert, so feel completely free to ignore me, but I think to get new viewers, making the whole video a bit shorter (while keeping as much of your style as possible) might be good. I think you are so inspiring that it would be great to get more people to your channel. Not many MTB KZbinrs making such 'pro-level' content while also holding down a professional job. Top stuff.

Another great video -- WOW, 2025 is gonna be great racing for you!

Thank you. Also I haven’t had to travel for a month and been training. Weird how being home is helpful to getting fit on the bike hahaha So for how strong everything is feeling I am REALLY excited for 2025. I just hope my concerns have been heard and my planned travel work schedule is mostly complied with 🤞🏼

Hell yeah Lo!! Way to hang in there and get a good finish. You should be very proud of the effort. I had a race where I kinda forgot to hydrate during the race. I led for 20 miles and started cramping bad. Got passed and lost. It taught me a valuable lesson about hydration. So later in the year I had another longer race but I made myself drink during it. No cramps and had a great finish. Honestly I felt like I could have rode ten more miles. I came up with a cramp fighting concoction that has worked wonders for me. I stick of liquid IV and two scoops of skratch hydration per 40oz water hasnt failed me yet. I live in East Tennessee where summers are very hot and extremely humid. Tell Joe I'm now very close to having fireball classified as an energy/hydration drink. This way anyone can buy it right off the convenience store shelf. Go team Fireball!! Has a nice ring to it. 😂

@LoSendquest yep, that was me! I was super nice because I was major fanboying when I noticed it was you. Great times you put up! I felt the same way as you when I came up on the stop that was out of water, I was toast at that point. I think I got 36th out of 42 men or something. Good times all around

What are some good resources to learn about the trails for a riding vacation? what are some of the best times of the year to ride? Congrats on the 4th
@LoSendquest3 күн бұрын
Thank you!’ I would utilize trail forks. Everything here is mapped so well. Hard to get lost (unless you’re trying to). Horse Gulch, Overend, Animas, and twin buttes are where moser of the sweet in town trails are. And then we also have the ct. Feel free to reach out and I am happy to give you a better 411 on email!

So.. interested... did you not follow your fueling plan as outlined or did you follow it and it wasn't enough? Great video! Will we see you at the 24HOP in Feb... sans S&M?
@LoSendquest3 күн бұрын
I think a bit of not following exactly and having off timing. As well as It was way hotter than I thought. We will be at HOP! And sadly we replaced Syd and Macky with our friend Filip and our friend Justin! Filip did the race two years ago with us. And Justin is a new add we teamed up with. He was in my Breck videos a couple times!

Being that close to home would make it better than traveling to race. Would BC bike race be something you would like to do?
@LoSendquest3 күн бұрын
It is always nice to just be home and have the comforts and luxuries and amenities that you are used to. As someone who travels a boat load, I didn’t realize how much the traveling whoops you. So I was just grateful to actually get to be home and just home town fun shenanigans with familiar and new faces. I would LOVE to do BC bike race!!!

I am not into racing, much less XC racing but I really want to do this race. Changing topics on you, I must ask, what’s the story on the wall paper in your kitchen?
@LoSendquest2 күн бұрын
You should do it. It’s amazing and it is really good vibes! It’s just GREAT riding. No really good story in the paper. I just LOVE color and saw that paper and needed to have it. We still need to add shelving - slowly but surely.
I really don't get why Durango the locals poo poo the Telegraphic Trail. IMHO it's one of the best trail systems in the US. I especially luv the markings/signage, making so 1st timers can't get lost but are always exploring.
@LoSendquest3 күн бұрын
Do we poo-poo it? HG is the best! Probably telegraph is a love hate because it is frequently used for time trials hahaha
@StephanieUtley-om3mj3 күн бұрын
We don’t poo pop it… I mean, I don’t! We durangoans love horse gulch.
