apparently the girl (hadiya hashmi) is 8 years old in this video. even just her sense of timing, rhythm, and dynamics is incredible for someone so young. very inspiring :)

Yes. More so within the next 20 years or so as VR evolves and you can experience actually being in situations. Even as it is, you can get good mileage out of something like the Meta Quest 3. KZbin VR has stuff like experiences of just walking in different cities around the world (as an example).

The guy sitting to her right is her teacher and she has been learning this "Sufe" singing for 2 or 3 years. But she is an exception. It normally takes years to learn but she has an amazing natural talent. This song made her very famous and it's not surprising. I wonder how she sustains such long notes in such a tiny frame!

I can’t believe I missed the premier of this video! This is one of the best performance as he will find anywhere on KZbin. That girl is phenomenal! I’ve been watching this video for about 3 years now, and it never gets old.

Nescafé Basement, and the bigger Coke Studio franchise, are Pakistani. The singer here is Adnan Dhool of Soch the Band. He’s also a brilliant lyricist. He is singing in Urdu here, Pakistan’s national language( he also sings in Punjabi, one of Pakistan’s many regional languages). The video has subtitles if you didn’t know. The little girl, Hadiya is classically trained (still training because classical singing takes a lifetime to perfect) you can see her teacher sitting next to her in some of the shots.

The instrument with the rough sound, played by a guy with the red cap at the start of the video is called Dambura! A classic and traditional instrument from Afghanistan 🇦🇫♥️

Tonight is the first time I've heard of this band or heard this song. I saw it on TRYBALS channel and followed YT's suggestion to your channel. I've got this song stuck in my head now and I'm loving it. That little girl brought me to tears! She was so emotive and so confident in her singing the song. I agree with you that she looked as if she actually really understood what she was singing as opposed to just singing notes on a page. It was beautiful to watch her face and hands as she sang. She actually reminded me a lot of Aurora and her passion for singing.

Hi Jess! Gotta admit I wasn’t feeling this one. At first. Lol. Altho I recognized the male singer’s talent, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Until…the young girl started singing. Omg! Unreal! Speechless! Literally blown away. As u stated in your copyright strike video (sorry u had to go thru that. what a pain in the butt & SO complicated, unfair & unnecessary), what u & others do exposes viewers to music/artists they would never have seen otherwise. I told u that watching your channel has done that for me. I guarantee I would have gone to my grave unaware of these artists had u not done an analysis on them. So ty once again for broadening my horizons! Have a great weekend! 😊
@Rosannasfriend Жыл бұрын
Funny enough, as somebody who has been watching this for years and enjoying it, I was actually about to get a little bit defensive on behalf of the male singer, but then I remembered I was kind of the same way! LMAO. I wouldn’t say I wasn’t feeling it at the beginning, but I was barely paying attention, until the young girl came in, and just slayed everyone! Ha ha. So I get it! But I have learned to appreciate everybody, especially with Jessica’s explanation of what he’s doing and what it takes to do it.

@@Rosannasfriend Hi! I only just discovered Jess a few months ago. I have commented on her last few analyses if you are curious about what I've said to her. They are all glowing, positive, appreciative comments about how what she does has opened up an entirely new world for me that I never knew existed. This is the only video I "wasn't feeling" so far lol. But as I said, it just wasn't my cup of tea. Had nothing to do with Jess's critique. Then the little girl blew me away. We are all different, complicated creatures. Impossible for us to agree on everything. That uniqueness is what makes life interesting. I am a casual singer who sings daily because it brings me joy. My voice is just shy of being able to make a living at singing lol (I'm talking coffee houses, not mega stardom 😆). I sound awesome one day (to me anyway lol), then not so much other days. Jess has shown me so many things that I never would have known about were it not for her channel. One of the things I love the most about her is that she takes what is at times complicated and technical and explains it in a way that a layperson can easily understand. I also enjoy being introduced to singers/bands/artists that I never would have known of were it not for her. Even tho I only recently discovered Jess, I'm exceedingly grateful that I did. Gotta run now and watch her latest post lol :)

I;ve seen like a thousand reaction reaction videos on this song. Many of them by experts i.e Singers, voice artists, vocal coaches etc. Yours is by far the the best. You were spot on with your picking up of that speech tone quality, even though you may not have heard this language spoken. The description of the dynamics (how his singing varied) were one of the most technically sound.

Soprano notes, make the link with cultural singing of flamingo Spanish vocals. At some extense, you could listen to Corsica liturgy lines also. Then, Arabic liturgy also. But those vocals are typical Indian/Pakistan. I wonder if there are Aramaic vocal style that sounds like this also.

I SO enjoy your reactions. I found you through your Faouzia reactions. Her performance of “Elon”, was at the Burton Cummings theater in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Burton Cummings has been singing professionally since he was 17 in 1964. Here’s him live in 1983, with The Guess Who and their hit song “UnDun”. This is almost 25 years after the song hit the Billboard charts but still sounds really good. He’s got amazing breath control. And has always sung really close to the mic, except when he lets loose. What can we learn about how he uses his voice, that have allowed him keep a decent sound so long? Can you comment on how to protect a voice as you age? Opera and jazz singers seem to keep their voices much longer than pop or rock singers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpDKqYSqYsebn80
