Jimmy, same engine as I have in the Jag. diesels usually have piston cooling jets running all the time, but to save fuel economy they turn them off when they are not needed with a solenoid valve. if that failed and there's no cooling on the piston crowns, the Pistons will melt down. At best, it will just damage the pistons, stick the rings and score the cylinder walls. need to do a leak down test to see if that's why they sold the car. if you do the electrical cranking test, it will give you a good hint without having to pull the glow plugs. cylinder balance test. your Launch euro tab should do a balance test with your Launch battery tester I believe Jaguar says 10% low is acceptable. it's also possible the solenoid is just unplugged or a bad wire.

There’s a well known issue with the 2.0 Ingenium engine in the disco sport. The early ones were fitted with the same 2.2 PSA engine as the Freelander. When they changed over to the ingenium engine there wasn’t room to fit the DPF in the engine bay. The engineers wanted to redesign the bulkhead but were overruled on cost grounds. The DPF was fitted down the exhaust & therefore can struggle to get hot enough to do a proper regen. Result is lots of failed regens & oil dilution leading to premature engine failures. Buying one of them is a lottery unless you know it’s history.

Delete the dpf and the adblue while your there, you won't have any issues then

Be very wary of those Ingenium 2.0 diesels unless it’s had the timing chain & tensioners replaced. It’s a common failure at even low miles

Had a jag f pace for a week. Already seen too many issues although dealear promised me that the last owner just spend 4k replaced turbo chain and egr. Luckily gave it back and got a kia. Although they look lovely, doesn't worth the stress and cost of repairing them unless you can afford to buy brand new one. Good luck to all people who are on budget and would like to drive a fancy jlr vehichle like myslef. I was just a lucky one who gave it back on the right time.

Just got my timing chain, new turbo, new rocker arms and a new idle pulley. Cost me 4k. Gonna sell it on but at least whoever takes it on won’t have the timing chain issue for a good while

Surely if you you buy a high mileage car, then you should expect some issues, or items that need replacing. I see 115894 miles on the dash, Im not surprised there’s an issue with the DPF, this is not just a Land Rover issue, it’s all diesels that have them fitted.

All down to the use. I’m running a 2011 Freelander. It’s got 140k on it. I’ve never even had a DPF light on. Reason? I live in the countryside & tow regularly. The problem with a lot of these vehicles is that they’re lifestyle vehicles owned by people who use them primarily around towns & cities. That’s just a recipe for problems

DPF’s prefer higher mileages as they warm up properly and the regen ‘s are generally not disturbed.

The shot of the tailpipes - any soot at all is all the evidence you need - don't need any scanner..... Halfords! LOL!!! After that he'll need the timing chain done! Avoid Avoid Avoid any Ingenium.

Yep, bought my Disco Sport from Carbase and it had a cracked DPF. Long story but i had to use my RAC warranty to pay the majority of the £2.4K cost. Carbase contributed £750. Buyer beware!!

I had a Mazda CX5 Sport with dpf issues. A DPF clean company told me this is a problem for many Land Rovers and a lot of diesels that do low miles. I was advised by Mazda "don't buy a diesel". Maybe just for me @7k pa.

I just bought mine, only 75k got vibrations when i release the accelerator at around 50mph-65mph. Ive heard drive shaft bearings are an issue, could it be this?

It’s a shame because the TD4 was a reliable engine even in the 2014-2016 evoque and Freelander 2. Discovery sport, RR sport anything after 2016 I wouldn’t touch with a barge pole. They’re live hand grenades that take £5000 a year to keep on the road

Jimmy can I ask if the pressure is reading 102 kpa that’s 1020 mbar at idle and at 3000 revs it’s at 105kpa would you say the dpf is cracked or the sensor not right .

But does the CRP129 EVO work on the 2018 onwards Discovery Sports with the Pathfinder system? i.e. can it force regeneration etc? Most independent garages can’t even reset service indicators on these….

We have the petrol ingenium and it's fantastic, no it doesn't have a DPF as it's only for diesels
