Great video ! We moved to Matagalpa about 6 weeks ago. My wife was born in Corinto. We plan on being here for a year or two. Except for the heat from noon-5, we are enjoying living here. We have great neighbors that are now friends. If you are ever in the area, please message us….maybe grab some coffee ? Scott n Lidia

Great advice. It took me almost a year to find the Land Cruser I wanted. I would add to your list and let your viewers know that they should be prepared to spend a few thousand more dollars getting their new purchase up to north american standards that they are use to. The environment and road conditions are hard on vehicles here. This is also a poor country and preventive maintenance like regular oil changes are not a thing. My clutch fluid was black when I bought my rig and it should be clear. It literally took me six more months to get it to the point that I feel its road worthy. Now it's time for a road trip to the northern mountains to a coffee finca (they're harvesting now, right?). Maybe I can buy you a coffee in person...

Hey Brett! Good points man! I will keep that in mind for part 2. If you plan on making your way up this north let me know we can meet up for a cup of coffee! Or a farm visit! cheers!

Brett, I tried tagging you on another video (your story) but I wasn’t able to, so I’ll leave it here: “I’m so happy for Brett! It’s quite obvious that living in Nicaragua has brought him much joy ❤ The way he describe the rainy season as ‘green and lush’ is how I would describe his energy and demeanor in this video 🌱🌞 Here’s for a long life in Nicaragua for Brett 🍻”

@@EmenseCoffee personally I’d be interested in videos about daily life when you go into the cities, like vlogging walking around, I’m not sure how often that would be for you but I’d definitely watch that man. I’ve a owned couple of small dealerships up in the San Diego area I can tell you with everything that you’ve mentioned Having a great mechanic comes in handy, also you do need to inspect for any frame damage, it is extremely important Any damage any welding etc You are right on point when you made that suggestion about buying from private owner, out on any big city ( León, Managua, Chinandega ) they tend to just drive around for the heck of it🎉😂

I bought a car in Managua off of ecuentra24, an '04 civic with 118k miles, which is nothing in the U.S. especially for a Honda, but this car is totally thrashed. Definitely will go with a mechanic next time, although I think $50 for them to look at a vehicle is super high, only because I looked at a house with a lawyer to check out the paperwork and although he was a family friend he only charged us about $10. And also we had a mechanic put a new radiator in the civic and it was about $13 for labor, so $50 honestly seems a little outrageous. Omg and the paperwork... We had to pay to register the car 4x times in a row because we didnt know about the registration process.... Thanks for all the tips!!! Great video, just wanted to throw in my 2 cents in case its helpful for someone..
@EmenseCoffee10 ай бұрын
True $50 is a little high but usually you have to travel outside your city to go view cars, it turns into a multiple day event. This is where the price goes up. Sorry to hear about the honda! It's a tough market to buy out here.

Good tips. I don’t understand how the paper work (tip 2) gets out of hand like that. Here when buying a vehicle used all you need is a bill of sale (keep in mind you should check to see if there are an liens on it), and proof of insurance to register it. When you register it you give them those two documents, you will get them back shortly and they will also hand you the registration which will I Clyde all the information about the vehicle and the license plate number. They also give you the plate as well and that’s about it. On the bill of sale is all the information about the vehicle, make model year kms, vin, how was the sale made cash cheque etc, asking are there any liens on it and all vehicles are sold as is (when purchased form private sellers). If you purchase from a dealership / full in cash they may have warranty info there

Thank you for all your extremely useful information. We appreciate it. I have one burning question about vehicles in Nicaragua: Please tell us if it is possible to bring in a vehicle, our own personal vehicle, into Nicaragua. If so, how complicated is the procedure?
@EmenseCoffee Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes you can bring in your own vehicle. The rule states it can be only a max of 10 years old, so 2013 and above. Since its a personal vehicle it will be subject to taxes depending on the value. The process is long and expensive. I highly recommend buying a vehicle in Nicaragua to save money and time.

How much visual inspection can a mechanic do without putting it on a lift? Putting the car on the lift will discover hidden oil leaks etc.
@EmenseCoffee Жыл бұрын
Good question. A lift would be better but they are not common only in the big citys you will find them sometimes. You will have to trust the mechanics exprience to get underneath and do his job.

Ok, weird question…we are driving in a 2004 suv to get our large dog into the country. We are told it is too old to keep in Nicaragua and will have 90-120 days to get it out of the country. Any suggestions on getting it out of Nicaragua and getting a few bucks for it ? We really hope not to have to drive it all the way back to the US. Ideas ??? Thx !
@EmenseCoffee Жыл бұрын
Hey! I would need to investigate what options you have. In case you run out of time with your 90 days you can drive to Cost Rica and rest the clock to buy more time until you can find a solution. I heard of people donating the suv to the redcross or hospitol. This allows them to get rid of the suv.
