During the British era, many Indians had to move to Africa as employees and workers of the British govt. I can see the cultural exchange right here. It's so good to see so many familiar things that were incorporated in other cultures as well. Even the first one, fried triangular donuts, we have a similar thing called Gujia... We also pair them with Chai.. 😂

Come on, gujiya is so different. Gujiyas are stuffed with delicious filling. This is more like a pooda, the sweet fermented pakoras that are made on festive occasions. The only difference is that poodas are made with a thick batter but these were made with a wet dough but still the texture is same from inside. And it's also hard to make soft poodas everytime.

(Clears throat really hard), you find seriously just A BIT (loudly)? 😂 It's entirely the same stuff. I guess African & Indian lands were together before they split (Didn't do Geography, just remembers a scene from Ice Age movies).. 😂😂

Alot of kenyan meals are influenced by indian dishes. Indian merchants along the coast and also labourers who built the railway exchaged culturally with kenyans during the colonial era

@@empress-c5e Indians did nothing of that sort even today they still segregate themselves in Africa, there is barely any noticeable cultural exchanges apart from maybe the Indian films but what you've seen is due to cultural influences from the Middle East through the swahili coast over the centuries of contact.

As a Kenyan, next to Kenyan food for me is Asian. You will rarely find me heading towards European restaurants, but Europeans have amazing pastry. The food to me is meh though. Don't know what they have against spice.

It's true about the sitting down to eat your food. I think that's why I've never thought of them as street food before. The video has done us proud I must say. Maybe a part 2? 😀

I was actually wondering why she was calling them street foods too? My idea of street food is Smoky mwitu, mayai, mahindi chemsha, and mutura. Soni Kept wondering why chipo would be even though Sambusa can be in some parts

That Bhajiya of yours is commonly known as 'bachka' which originated in Indian state of Bihar. Here bachka is generally prepared using potatoes but one can use other ingredients too. After potatoes , pumpkin's flowers, gourd's flowers, bottle gourd etc are also widely used to make bachka. I loved your video!!! So much informative!!! Regards and love from India!!!! 😘❤️

1st one is like toned down version of buns originated from Udupi (Near mangalore, in India). It's just that we use bnana Nad don't use baking powder instead we use curd and leave it for atleast 1 day for fermenting.
