Don't kid yourself, Thai men are like 'rabbits' --there's places set up everywhere for a bit of 'fun'. Ever heard of 'Mia Noi' ? That is common here to have a 'second wife' --the wife often knows and accepts this also! Farangs treat Thai women differently, its doesn't work! The Thai guys know how to keep control!

Trev, great video as always! I'm actually really surprised that you didn't touch upon one MASSIVE aspect at all when it comes to relationships with Thai women (from a Westerner's perspective) and that is her relationship with her parents. Oversimplified speaking, Thai people, like many Asian cultures, have a "bottom-up" ("Children do everything to make the parents happy") approach contrary to our westerner "top-down" ("Parents do everything to make their children happy") one - this is particularly apparent to me to all the naturalized Thai people with Chinese heritage. It's partly the reason why many farm girls become working girls to begin with (because they can send money home to supply their parents, grand-parents - if they have children already, they're almost always with them, being raised and supported by their working girl mom). So depending on your own relationship with your parents this can be a bit of a "culture shock", because in western cultures parent-child-relations tend to "detach" themselves way more than Thai people do -> don't be surprised if the Thai girl says you're not the most important person in her life or the person she loves the most (something that is very common in the west to say, right? partner being the most important person and such? for some that's important to hear) - cause that would be her parents. Even more so, don't be surprised if she does whatever her parents or grand-parents tell her to do, even tho she's well in her 20/30s or even older. It's quite the thing to behold sometimes and something to keep an eye out :) ... Also, ALWAYS get on good terms with her siblings as well, especially her older brothers/sisters, since they often become somewhat of "replacement parents" for them - hence, similar mindsets may apply. Another aspect that you didn't touch upon was the working conditions for (most) Thai people, particularly for the "professional" ones. Thailand is famous for some of the WORST work-life balance in the world, with Bangkok listed as one of the unhappiest places when it comes to working conditions (land of smiles, eh? -> the Thaiger did a report on that a couple weeks ago, if anyone is interested). My girl works in Bangkok Hospital as a medical professional and for them it's completely normal to have 14-18h+ shifts - no overhour compensation of course. Many of the smartest and brightest have had enough and want a way out, they don't see a good future for Thailand right now (for many reasons...) and dating a foreigner is what keeps them hopeful, because they've heard (and sometimes seen) how life can be outside of this meatgrinder. I know, most people watching you are probably "entertainment tourists", but for those who want to pull back the veil a bit and have more of a deep dive into Thai society, all these aspects might be of importance :) Wish you a great day and keep up the great work! :D

All good points. I lived with my girlfriend for two years before asking her to marry me. We worked out the cultural and family issues. If you are going to live in Thailand you will have reconsider some of your values and make some compromises. Different is not necessarily worse.

A former girlfriend worked a crazy number of hours as a physician at a small rural hospital. Busy emergency department and also covered a small number of inpatient beds. Was normally a multiple doctor facility but other doc's quit because of crazy schedule. But she did indeed receive overtime pay, a staggering 40 baht per hour. Total monthly income 45-50K baht. Approx half of what our residents in training salary was 30 years ago in US.

Hi... I was one of those who would go wild with different girls for the first week or two but then settle with a steady girl. I knew all the tricks until I met my future wife. We just got on together. 20 years married, she's not materialistic and I'm 12 years older than her. The best part has been all the fun we had and how she takes care of me. Miss one of the very big issues with marrying a Thai girl. If she is a traditional Thai woman you are marrying a Thai family. My wife made it very clear to me in the very beginning that she needed to help support her mother and father I also got a eight-year-old boy with her. We have been together for almost 20 years. We live in the United States and I can honestly say that my wife is now my cash cow. She bought a Thai Restaurant and it has been very good to us.

Hey Trev, I'm just over 60, divorced, no kids...been to Thailand 10 times and tend to hang out with 25-35 year old girls...it's just really fun for me...I'm very clear about not wanting anything serious right from the get go...we learn things from each other...music, culture, dreams...the biggest piece of advice I can offer is: When a girl wants you to meet her family, just be careful...THAT is an indication that she is getting serious and will up the expectations of the relationship... Great video and very true. Personally it took me 15 years of visiting Thailand often twice a year ( without doubt the best 15 years of my life and i will take some unbelievable memories to my grave.😂) before I found one that I could genuinely trust and love. We've been married for 12 years now and she's still amazing. Except for the silent treatment, sulking moods that she goes into sometimes if we ever have a disagreement. The best thing is it's a very traditional marriage, she cooks for me, very respectful, etc. She works pays for own bills car, clothes etc. The hard thing is the cultural differences and language barrier. Interesting topic because in my experience they all prefer Thai guys, the only exceptions sometimes are foreign guys who can speak Thai. The truth is most Thai guys don't actually want those girls so the girls become defensive and claim to prefer foreigners.

I was married for 15 years to a Thai woman that I met when I was in Thailand. The attraction for me of course was her beauty. She was from my viewpoint very nice looking. Not drop dead, but still pretty from my viewpoint. The hardest part was communication. We see the world in different ways. She felt I should support her family even though we were 10,000 miles from them (we lived in America and they were in Surin) I didn't feel it was my responsibility to support her family who lived on the other side of the world. I love your videos, and this one really applies. Got a lady who found me online, think somebody here in the Thai community gave her my facebok. Anyway, I know what you mean about being careful, so I been taking time with it. She is from up in the country, not in the bar life, and my age, which is why I even considered giving this lady my time. I think much of what was in your video rings true, as I have had the chance to observe many such relationships. The ones that seem to work best are, yes, when the man and woman are close in age. I think generational differences are as important as cultural. I hate to say this though, you can always take the lady out of the bar, but you can't take the bar out of the lady, if she had been in that life longer than a few months. Saw a lot of that with the Chinese girls who came to Saipan. I will say that I do notice huge differences between Thai, Chinese and Filipina ladies. We have lots of Chinese and Filipinas here, and a small Thai community, and what I notice is the Guys who are with Thai ladies here seem a lot happier than those who married Chinese or Filipina...just the attitude and priories are different. Things I notice with the Thai vs Chinese....Chinese are far more money oriented and dare I say "Cold hearted" when it comes to relationships. You will never be her #1 priority. And I know maybe one out of 10 guys I know who married Chines who are still with her...(Including me). Whereas I know guys who married Thai ladies and have been with them for decades. Jealousy is an issue though. I see even my own girl will always text me asking if I am at a bar which got tedius after 6 months till I put my foot down and basically got to an understanding. That type of jealousy did ruin a friend of mine's relationship. Weird...seems in the last 3 years everyone I know who dated Chinese or married are now hooking up with Thai ladies (including me). I did explain abou the jealousy thing to my lady and it seemed to help. But I understand. Her husband 14 -15 years ago was a thai guy with a girl on the side, so... Now one other thing that actually worries me is how some of us guys need solitude and quiet. But my girl always wants to chat...Hard for me to explain to her how important "Me time" is. A firend of mine had the same problem but seems to have resolved it with his lady...I figure communication is key. Anyway, since Covid is ending and I can finally travel, I will hopefully be there in August. Her sister is in Pattaya, so we may take a couple days, down there so if so, Will hit up your Buzz In bar and maybe say hello. Smashing interview with Billy Makin by the way. Really enjoyed.

The best overview of Thai girls and farang interaction I've heard to date 👍 I'm in my 60's so too long in the tooth to believe a 20 something would have any interest in me other than financial, its still flattering. We've all heard 'Thai man no good' reply, which is just to boost your ego. I'm friends with a few Thai ladies who are in their mid 40's. known them for several years, and I've asked them the same question, why farang, and the best answer I've had was 'farang men don't judge' I took this to mean that a thai woman who has 2 kids and hubby has buggerd off, leaves her pretty much invisible to a thai man as they all want young women with no kids, yet a farang is more likely to take her and her kids

And I met her first on Thai Friendly 🤟. And my wife is 22 years younger. I find that a majority of the ladies are looking for a stable relationship like you said. My wife works at a Thai restaurant and make great money. She saves most of it and loves to spend it too. She's very generous and loves nice things: Gucci, Louie etc. But she buys them. I make enough to support her and her daughter, who moved here a year ago, so she saves and spends and lives a easy fun life. While some have remarked Pattaya girls lack education I discovered they are actually among the most highly educated in all of Thailand. The dating site thai friendly Pattaya girls section shows they have a high % of PhD and/or Doctorate degrees. Faith has been restored and I hope to meet my dream gal pediatrician on Soi 6.

That is why a search by education is futile on that website LOL.. Yes at the international student PhD level it is a different species than what the average foreigner meets. I dated a couple of lady physicians and they as you say were (to the best of my knowledge) NOT gold diggers. One drove 1.5 hours to visit me and on the first date absolutely would not let me pay for dinner or even share. The other one with similar attributes and if I cooked a meal she'd always bring wine. Also if I may add, they were very leery about male gold diggers targeting them.

To answer your two questions. 1. I've been in a relationship with my Thai girlfriend for almost six years and the best part is The Thai culture. Even though she was once married to an American and lived in the USA for a short time, she is not what I call Westernized. She is still 100% Thai and her number one priority is making me happy. 2. The toughest I'd have to say is actually two things first the language barrier. Even though she speaks English quite well I still speak very little Thai, and occasionally we have a subject she simply can't explain in English and with my limited Thai I likewise can't understand. Which leads me to part two and that is when a Thai woman gets frustrated or mad she shuts down. She simply refuses to talk about what ever it is anymore. Believe me we've had a number of arguments about this. But its a Thai thing so get used to it. OK now to somewhat qualify my answers. While you've undoubtedly heard plenty of horror stories you should know that occasionally things can work out. I've been with my Thai girlfriend for almost six years now and while its not been all sugar spice we do enjoy a very good relationship. You should also know that I spent a lot of time in Thailand learning the INS and outs. I enjoy many a soapy massage and overnight bar fine before meeting my girlfriend and entering into a relationship. I learned her entire past. And after she quit working we now live in a house she owns. We discussed marriage in the past and she understands and accepts my reasons for remaining single, at least for now. So while our relationship is not perfect it is far better than any I've had with Western women. To those of you in a relationship with a Thai woman I wish you continued success and happiness. To those of you that might be considering a relationship I say proceed with caution. Keep your guard up and your wallet closed. Know what you're getting into. But for all the horror stories remember that occasionally things can and do work out.

I have seen just as many men loss everything to western women who they believed would be with them till death do us part. And I was one of these!!! I've been with a beautiful Thai lady for about a year and a half now. I'm 66 and she's 41 and I would say that she has more trouble keeping up with me than me with her! LOL I met her on Tinder when I first came to Hua Hin. She was working for a small business that sold clothing online but they went out of business a few months after we met which was OK with me because I wanted to travel around Thailand with her and didn't really want her working full time. She is very frugal. I give her a small allowance for shopping and everyday necessities which she uses to buy groceries for us and to pay for incidentals. She had girlfriends who told her to ask me to buy her a "Louis Vitton' purse which we joke about. Very happy together, she cooks me wonderful Thai meals all the time and we have a lot of fun traveling around. I would't date a 20 something Thai lady but I would ammend your age restriction a bit based on if the lady is older than 40 and I would also say that using social media to find a Thai lady can work well also. Certainly a better bet than meeting at a bar I think!

Avoid the bar girls and possibly pattaya all together … check out their social media. The first clue on instagram is the icons below her profile description. It’s very common these bar girls will have 1 per country. I have this one girl that’s got one for like 20 countries, so you can assume she’s had at least 20 guys fly her out and turn her out. Look at her lifestyle… always in bars ? Avoid! How does she dress? Fake tits ? Drives a new car but doesn’t seem to have a job ? … on the other hand I’ve got one I’m chatting with that seems to do a little of both, I can see her kindergartens children she teaches and wears her little Girl Scout uniform to work, and I see the occasional party pics also, which is fine a working girl needs to unwind… if got another she works for Sony in the Amata city and I can see her in her uniform everyday and we’ve talked finances, usual 15000 tbh per month … some are keepers some belong to the streets 😂 then again I’m sure there must be a few diamonds in the rough but it might cost a few thousand pounds to find them

I completely agree with the age. I'm 44 and trying to date Filipina girls here in Saudi Arabia. I generally stay in the 32-38 age range. More towards the older end. I find it very difficult to have any type of conversation with the younger girls. Well ive done a few of the things you warn against Iam 68 & wife is 41 now been married 11 years & we have 2 kids this was a big mistake for me they are 6 & 10 . She comes from Buriram & worked for the Government i checked her out when i first went there see where she worked to make sure she wasnt lying . We met on Thai love links i used to call her & talk to her for 20 mins everyday but it was hard work as English wasnt good she was nice to be with when i visited there although not much to do around there at that time . As i speak now it was a mistake to get married & bring her here her English has got worse & she mostly sits around watching Thai tv programmes on her phone . She has wanted to go back to Thailand to live at least 3 or 4 times a year i feel sorry for her but i couldnt let me kids go to live there .

Hello Trevor, how are you, sir ? I can relate to this topic. I've first met my wife in 2016 on Facebook. At first she didn't want anything to do with me. But i didn't give up and after a year of chatting i travelled to Pattaya for the first where she worked as a saleslady at Central Festival. We were able to spend time together outside her working schedule. After returning home we kept talking daily. Another year later i returned to Thailand. After that she came to see me in the Netherlands. And the rest is history. We're still together and i must say that it's great. Sure, i've experienced the silent treatment and the "it's up to you" remarks. Anyone who is or has been involved with thai women should know where i'm talking about. But nobody is perfect, right ? I remember an incident when I was visiting Bangkok for business on a monthly basis for about 4 years, back in the 2004-2008 timeframe.
