@muuhnkin46114 жыл бұрын
Having games like COD CW regularly dipping into high 20s low 30s on RAM usage, I would say you're probably wrong on that. And yes the game uses about 27-35 GB of RAM. And it reserves over 20gb of VRAM. Games are getting more and more memory hungry and I would say that 32 is the next 16. Good enough for most stuff, but not optimal for everything. 32 is definitely not that future proof, because there are games by now that use more. It's only good enough.
@muuhnkin46114 жыл бұрын
@@Aki_Lesbrinco yes, currently cod is an outlier, but I expect newer games to be in that ballpark too. New consoles have 20 GB ram too. I know it's 3 different speeds of ram but games are going to get more hardware hungry. Same happened on the transition from ps31 Era to ps4 Era of games. Once the ps4 gets thrown out the window for newer releases, games will need a lot more power than they need now. Most newer AAA games use more than 16gigs by now. Horizon, cod, cyberpunk, bf5, bf1, battlefront etc. All can use more than 16 GB RAM (most between 16-20) Games make use of more RAM if you have it. Tbh. I probably would have stayed on 32gb for gaming only, but I'm working on my PC too and 64 are better for that workload. 16gb will definitely get outdated over the course of this hardware generation. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that was developed for and was intended to run on base ps4 and xbone consoles. There is NO EXCUSE for the way it runs on those systems. @@MrKilljay That's one argument, but at the same time, people are complaining about how the graphics look while comparing it to the PS5 or PC. It wasn't ready and it's to be expected at launch with any big game. Even GTA5 was pretty much the same at launch in terms of bugs/glitches. @@khazms Dude, no. This is exactly what I'm talking about. Game companies have conditioned us to think it's okay for games to release as broken messes. Imagine this happening in any other industry. Imagine going to see a movie that releases in which the CG is only half complete and everyone says to wait in 6 months for a finished version of the movie. That would be ridiculous, right? So why is it okay in the gaming industry? If the game needs another 6 months of development, then it should release 6 month later when it is COMPLETE. Sure the base consoles aren't going to have the best graphics in the world, that's fine. But there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR THE GAME TO BE RUNNING AT 15 FPS WHILE LOOKING LIKE AN XBOX 360/ PS3 GAME. PERIOD. If it's gonna run that badly, CDPR should've just cancelled it, like when Dying Light was cancelled for 7th gen consoles. Please stop accepting this crap from companies. It doesn't help that investors at CDPR wanted the game out quicker, plus were getting death threats. Especially with a pandemic and holidays, they probably couldn't achieve what they wanted in time. It's completely understandable. I will tolerate it because I can wait to play it in a patch or two, which may or may not take a month or two.

I disagree consoles have even in the past had some forms of parts found in PC’s. The next generation consoles literally have the exact same GPU and CPU architecture as consumer PC’s. Tech KZbinrs like Digital Foundry even do tech breakdowns and can give ballpark performances to give a PC equivalent in real world performance. This is misleading people into thinking that consoles are not limited by their hardware because of console optimization. The next generation consoles are basically equivalent to a RTX 2080 paired with a 3700x, 16gbs of DDR4 ram and a fast NVMe SSD. PC and Consoles are different yet they can still be compared to each other more than ever before.

I usually like your videos, but lately there is a trend, only overpowering the need to buy 64 GB of ram, and 3080 for cyberpunk 4K ultra details with ray tracing and so on... I think everyone knows that if you want the best of the best, you need to buy the most expensive piece of hardware, no need to argue that or to explain it, but there is the average, or more casual pc gamer who plays 1080p with optimal settings for 60 FPS in a 1660 ti with 32 GB of ram, it is a total nonsense to buy a ryzen 9 and pair it to my 1660 ti, and it is very easy to say, “buy the best chip, buy a rtx 3080, buy 64 GB” maybe, as suggestion, you can talk more about “optimal settings” how to take advantage from a six core chip, how to set graphics on a 1660, which programs eat a lot of ram, a more informative hardware performance or an educational about an upgrade path to your pc. Games are made on PC first even for consoles. I use to be a console guy until a PC guy explained it to me. Changed my gaming life. Been telling people, once you buy a console, games and then a 4k tv etc. etc. One could have built a high end PC. BUT as stated and known, good luck finding what you really want. Although, the same can be said about consoles all for now.

When it comes to consoles and PCs, it used to be that they were wildly different. Consoles had highly specialized hardware. It wasnt as simple as a processing chip, a graphics chip, and some Ram. Consoles would often have many different chips with very specific duties. Consoles now a days are very closely related to PCs given that some use x86 processors with a special graphics chipset that is not available on the market. But it’s still a foolish choice to think they are even remotely close to 1:1 comparisons. Developers don’t just export for PC then check a box to export for consoles. It takes separate testing and separate efforts to make a console version. The assets for PC games have to be tuned t be playable on unfathomable combinations of hardware. Console version is 1 console, 1 (maybe 2) variations for that one console brand.

I'll give you a plausible scenario where you could buy new parts that are really cheap and get away with it. Now, this is a pretty special use case so obviously I'm not recommending it for everyone, but I've been thinking about this lately because I'm preparing to move somewhere where I live off the grid and provide my own electricity. As PC parts get more powerful, the lower end parts also get more power efficient...I'm very excited about the idea of putting together something like an athlon 3000g build with nothing else in it and being able to play games from maybe 5 years ago and older while drawing less than 70 Watts under peak usage. But that being said, I don't expect to play anything new whatsoever. I won't have internet, so I can only go with games that will launch without it, which these days is becoming more and more rare. So there you go. But that's just about the only scenario I can think about that really justifies super low end new hardware... Staying forever limited to old games if you're cool with that... And saving a ton on electricity in the process. The average person doesn't really need to take in account electrical efficiency.

so much misinformation here about the consoles !! 1st of all Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the best example on last gen consoles performance because the game is poorly optimized & it suffers from so many bugs & glitches even on the high end PCs . Secondly as we reach the midlife cycle to later on near the end for the new generation of consoles we gonna witness the best most impressive looking games ever on consoles hardware , just look @ how impressive RDR2 , God Of War , TLOU2 , Ghost Of Tsushima , Death Stranding , FF VII Remake , Uncharted 4 etc.. on the base PS4 & compare them to 2013 , 2014 , 2015 releases in terms of graphics Cyberpunk 2077 isn't the best example to justify building a $1000 PC or more just to have similar specs to the PS5 . look at Spider-Man Remastered and Spider-Man Miles Morales with RT & 60fps they both run with dynamic res & stays @ 1440p or close to it most of the time or take a look @ Godfall which is a technical showcase on the PS5 " i know that it's also on PC " , or Demon's Souls which is imo the best looking game ever created even compared to the best looking games on PC & it runs @ smooth perfect 60 fps . this is a PC centric channel & PCs do 100 times more stuff than consoles but @ the end when it comes to purely gaming these new consoles are really impressive & things will only get better & devs will continue to learn how harness & how to get the most out of these new consoles & to reach the full potential for these new consoles . thanks for the great content & discussions .

Don't remember if I already posted here, but more thoughts: Cyberpunk, in hindsight, is a poorly optimized game. It needed a few months more work to smooth out wrinkles and optimize the graphics and get rid of bugs. It's also a very thirsty game, requiring stupidly high specs to run at the highest settings; specs so high, you HAVE to get a next gen console or a high end computer to appreciate it fully. Only a R9 3900/5900X, RTX 3090, and 32+ g of RAM with DLSS and Ray tracing on is going to handle it at max settings, and even then most benchmarks don't have a 60fps average. In two or three years, newer MBs, ram, and GPUs will all be available. 3090 specs will be available on the 4070, ram will be ddr5 and much faster, and more people will be able to play this game as intended. This really is the Crysis of today (Crysis is a game from about 13 years ago that had similarly high spec requirements).

Red Dead 2 was heavy on the GPU and my 1070 only ran at just above console performance with the same visuals despite it being about 3x faster than what the base PS4's GPU is supposed to be. Even a bad PC port can usually be better than a console port though and bad ports in general affect both sides. Some games like Mafia 3 were bad everywhere

Gotta realize for one those of us on a budget dont give a damn about 1440 so its 1080p ftw and so my i5 9600k and 1050ti would play anything i was throwing at it and once i upgraded to a 1660super like i should have from the start i was able to even run cyberpunk stable and steady, yeah on mostly low but still. Right now because of the market im still on he 1660super but i have upgraded to an i9 9900k on a decent gigabyte aorus mobo and that cpu is now 2 generations behind and even with that underpowered defintly budget gpu i got I am still able to play everything I want and it runs smooth and for most stuff i can even run it on high. Sure i definty want to upgrade my gpu to at east something as powerful as a 3060 but not for the price right now thats just crazy.
