I sort of wish i was just a random guy that has never heard an organ in his life going to church an encountering this amazing music coming from somewhere, not knowing what it is but having a life changing experience at that moment, I can't imagine a different outcome after such a glorious masterpiece

Finally an interpretation that doesn't try to sound like a piano. I'm pleasantly surprised at how expressive a pipe organ can be at this tempo, even without slathering on the rubato.

I was inspired by a different organ in my parish church - also in Brooklyn. (City of Churches) Queen of All Saints in Clinton Hill - Wirsching Organ - Dupre played it in 1921. Richard Keys Biggs (not E. Power) claimed it to be the finest organ in the country. Hearing Latry play is always a pleasure.

He has enormous hands! Watch the left hand as the Oboe takes up the theme again in the variation. I can span a tenth and still feel that I must thumb-under to be sure to play those notes correctly!

Magnificent ! One of the most pregnant interpretations since that of André Isoir. The recent version by Michel Bouvard is very beautiful as well but more withdrawn, in the style of Isoir who was his master. I would like to hear this on a Cavaillé-Coll organ for which it was composed and which sounds definitely much better than this one...

+Oskar Dolch believe originally for a French Reed organ, which is very different from an American Reed organ. Works on pressure not suction and is much much more expressive

It was originally composed for church organ as proven by the pedal part of the music. French pressure reed organ doesn't include pedalboard no more than US suction reed organ one. Cesar Franck was one of the best Parisian organists at the end of the 19th century. He had tenure of the great Cavaillé Coll organ in La Madeleine Church;.
