CAB LIGHT THEORY AND AVOIDANT MEN

As much as we love oversimplified ideas and theories to help us understand the behaviour of men in dating, the idea that a man is like a cab and won’t commit to a person until he’s ready isn’t entirely accurate.
Firstly, not every man is the same. Many men will commit to their childhood sweetheart because they don’t have commitment issues.
Secondly, many men may not be ready for commitment and a relationship because they had bad role models and are experiencing arrested development.
Thirdly, just because a man wants commitment doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have commitment issues.
Finally, if a man breaks up with you for arbitrary reasons only to date and marry the next person, it doesn’t mean he found THE ONE and that his commitment issues have vanished.

This is true for healthy men. Avoidants THINK they are ready. They turned on their light and begged you to get in, but don't even realize they're trying to get on the freeway with nails in their tires, ready to suddenly burst without warning. Because, of course, they never took time to inspect their own vehicle. Hopefully the passenger survived the inevitable crash.
