This is the first reason why they should at a reverb in the Shaperbox, the second reason is all the possibility's other shapers have that work with reverb.

Love the advice! one thing I would say is not to pick a random snare hit. Most genres have spots in the bar where its "expected" to have some variation. Randomly picking a note or drum sound to mess with kills cohesion.

I prefer to duplicate the snare and insert the verb + fx then flatten :) good tip

I always just add a extra snare put it in the mixer and add reverb and keep on stand by

Works but doubles the signal for the tail and muds/squashes the transient of the doubled snare. Depending if you have an extra track for that and the plugins on that directly instead of bus send you'll probably have additional CPU load going

Ear candy refers to the secondary elements you add in to keep stuff interesting beyond your core loops. Lasers, dub echo’s, sirens, risers, fallers etc

Automate turning the plugin on only for that beat. Or automate the wet/dry to zero.
