The main side effect for me on Adalat XL 30mg is nasal congestion 24/7, along with a stiff neck. It also makes my feet swell, but not overly so. I have also read that it can make psoriasis worse, which I have. (I tried natural health products and also lost 23lbs, but my BP was still very high, 220/10 at times.) Looks like I'm stuck with this CCB, but I'm grateful that it works.

Because of the calcium reference I would like to know if there is any impact on osteoporosis, ie making it worse.

All blood pressure meds come with a long list of potential side effects that doctors generally don't tell you about. I was prescribed amlodipine 5mg but experienced some side effects while taking this medication.. When I asked my doctor how long I'd have to take this medication I was told I'd be on blood pressure meds for life. So I stopped taking amlodipine without consulting my doctor and have made some lifestyle changes diet, exercise, stress management etc and my elevated blood pressure has returned to normal. I decide what's best for me but I'm prepared to take a doctors opinion into consideration but not prepared to blindly follow medical advice.

Me too! I'm not a lab rat. Doctors were making me feel so bad I didn't even want to live. I gave up doctors and drugs and took control of my own health. I'm doing much better now.

I just quit taking them. I also started a perfect diet and exercise. ..and stopped doing the things that raise bp. Nothing fancy. I know I'll die, we all do, but until then I want to feel good. These meds make me sick.

Sounds too low to me. I'd ask your doctor about it, and maybe request a second opinion. These meds are harmful to your body in other ways... you shouldn't take them if you don't need to.

My doc put me on nifedipine. what a horrible drug! Made me feel like I was dying. I also learned that these drugs cause osteoporosis and loss of teeth. Made me decide to quit doctors and modern "healthcare". I'm taking my health in my own hands.... perfect diet and exercise. If that doesn't work, oh well.

I didn't have angina until I started taking nifedipine. I swear they're trying to kill me.

I just quit taking it. I know you're not supposed to do that, but the risk was worth it. I didn't even want to live if I had to keep feeling so sick. I feel 100% better after 6 days off that poison.

Why don't Doctors tell you about this. I have Fibromyalgia, yes I have pain in the chest as well as right through my body. Doctors are only interested in writing scripts out...He took me off Amlodiapine because I told him it was counteracting with my blood pressure tablets now he has put me on a medication with more side effects. I don't understand why 😳
