@@evaristopacheco4738 And you know this how? Were you there when it happened? Did your bible give you this revelation or you are still in the realm of using the human mind to explain the things of God. That looks like what the pharisees and unbelievers were very good at doing. I bet that if I share one of mine, you'd have an explanation to discredit my experience 😂 😂. That you don't believe it does not nullify the fact that the Spirit of truth SPEAKS and can be perceived by those who are attuned to Him. Selah.

@michaelokandeji9616 your experience is no different than that of a believer who walks past a poor person asking for change and help but does not, is it because God told them not to, or is it because they chose to (disobey) Jesus who said it in the (scriptures) to give to those who ask for help, as i said in the last comment the deer was a warning sign for you to (obey) your conscious given to us by God. God did not speak to you in an audible voice, the Holy Spirit only reminded you of what you knew to be common sense. Anything that comes to mind is exactly that a (reminder) it is not the audible voice of God. And every time that the Holy Spirit did speak to the early church of believers was for the preaching of the gospel in the extending of the kingdom of heaven, not for there own personal safety, most of them died for their faith in the spreading of the gospel. If God did not want you to hit the deer, so that you would not die God would not have let the deer cross the road, our God is not stupid. Again the deer was a (reminder) for you to use your God given common sense. Amen Love you. And God bless

Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit comes he will remind us of all that Jesus has taught and commanded, and we know that Jesus is the word of God that we read in scripture. And Jesus also said that when the Spirit comes he will covict the world of sin, he will remind us of every time we do wrong in order for us to repent and ask for forgiveness. And he is the one who teaches us how to live in righteousness according to the truth, God's word is truth. And the Holy Spirit will keep reminding us that the devil has already been judged, and we will also be judged for what we do in life, as it is written that judgement starts in the house of God. When I first was saved, older Christians always said “God told them”; implying that He was speaking to them in an audible voice. Consequently, I always thought I must not be saved since God never told me anything. This is a very deceitful thing to do.

As someone who believe in the Gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4/Romans 10:9-10) I have never heard an audible voice from God. Can we hear an audible voice from God? Absolutely! Many people did in Scripture, but now we have the Scriptures, and that is how God speaks to us. The problem is, people don't pick up Scipture to read it.
@michaelokandeji9616

@andrewmarshall7569 The problem is not that people don't read the scriptures, it is that many of you are trying to box God into a corner. While hearing the "audible voice" is God's perogative and its uncommon, perceiving the voice of the Holy Spirit through our spirits is available to all who are God's Children, saved by grace. How else does one explain having the Spirit dwelling in us, yet we don't communicate with Him and vice versa? That you can't relate with it doesn't mean others can't..

@@michaelokandeji9616 I must have struck a chord there, as I said "audible voice". A gentle nudge is quite a different thing. @andrewmarshall7569 I Womder what that CHORD is 😂 😂. While i am aware that there are many wolves who have used that expression to fleece the flock or the gullible undiscerning, it does not nullify the fact that people "hear" from the Father. When a man says God told me, and you interpret that to mean a private revelation, isn't that the problem of the interpreter? Why do you find it hard to believe the LORD does infact speak to His children? It's all about INTERPRETATION and PERSONAL EXPERIENCES. We shouldn't box God into a corner because of these.

It is puzzling that people who've never heard God's voice are teaching others how to hear His voice. God looks at the heart before He speaks either through rhema or an audible voice. I've heard His audible voice, yet I can't tell anyone how to hear His voice.
@chigasaki06

The thing is, what does an audible voice mean? Scripture is somewhat vague. Can God speak through someone using their voice? For example, speaking through them to them on behalf of someone else? God can do it directly or perhaps use an angel. Scripture, to me, isnt particularly clear. As another example, the Bible talks about demons. We have some examples of how demons work, but there are potentially a plethora of ways demons can affect us that Scripture doesn't explore.

The Bible (the Scriptures) has been completed 2K years ago, the last prophecy given to the men and women was given around A.D. 93 to Apostle John which is the the Book of Revelation. Since that time God Himself is not adding anymore prophecies or messages because the Scriptures have been completed. That's why we have this warning from God written at the very end of the Bible; Revelation 22:18 "For I (Lord Jesus Christ) testify unto every man that hears the Words of the prophecy of this Book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this Book."

Thank you Caleb for diving into “Critical” pillars of this Christian walk! For those that have 5 minutes, please read this, it will bless you or challenge you enough to go on a new Journey with God. First: your position of displaying what you have studied/know to be true while remaining open for additional input from followers is the “Foundation of a true disciple”, having a teachable spirit! Thank You! 1) God speaks to us through His word, spot on and primary source. “Will and Testaments are logos, written, else at court hearings for inheritances, the judge would just make up whatever they wanted. So, we get our primary “voice of God” from the account of when God spoke in times past. 2) Thoughts vs God speaking to us: The mind is the control center for the mouth/bodily actions. However, the bible is clear, the mind isn’t the best place 😂 In fact, NT says it’s enmity(hostile) toward God/Holy Spirit. The Born again person gets a new spirit within them, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in this new temple. A) Is the Holy Spirit a person? Yes, previous videos have proven this. Is the Holy Spirit a person who is “Mute” and cannot speak? Ah, important to know. B) How do we know the Holy Spirit spoke to us? First of all, maturity is key. It takes time to develop our relationship with Him. My Story I was on a 35 minute drive from a revival late one night. When entering the next city, I saw the first and major intersection stoplight ahead. As most folks do, my mind said, “Ooh, I think I’m going the right speed so that my timing will be perfect for the light to turn green so I don’t have to stop”. Upon getting closer, on came the green light, then the voice of the Holy Spirit began to speak to me, “Stop at this green light” He said. I was like, “What?, are you kidding me, it’s green! I want to get home to my wife and kids, stop at a green light? No way. This is stupid, what if someone saw me stop at a green light?(there wasn’t a soul around at this time of night). The Holy Spirit then said, “no one is around to see you stop at a green light”. Interesting 🤔. So, I obliged the Holy Spirits direction and stopped at the green light, what happened next rocked my world. A vehicle(not even sure what kind), was doing about Mach 10 on my right and dangerously speed right through the red light!!! I would have been T-Bones by them and potentially killed. Question: Where there stop lights in the Bible? How did the Holy Ghost know what a stop light was to ask me to stop? See, the position of “God only speaks to us now the way He did in the past, examinable only by the Word of God” isn’t entirely accurate. This only one account I have of many in which the Holy Spirit has spoken to me. If anyone would like to hear more, I would be glad to share my email address.

I prayed daily for my little girl from my first failed marriage. After dedicating praying for her, one day God spoke to me, “She’s not yours” He said. Being in shock of what I heard, I said, “What Lord?” And He said the exact same thing a second time, same tone, same voice. I never told a soul that I heard Him speak to me. Two weeks later, my ex wife confessed the girl wasn’t mine and a later dna test proved it. Listen, we’re all on a journey here, thanks for allowing a safe place for folks to share!

I appreciate the warnings about false prophecy, which are disgusting and rampant in some circles. I totally agree that many say they heard from God when they did not. I have to say, though, that I think you take it a little too far in the cessationist direction by demanding that God speaking HAS to be an audible voice. I have prayed 1 Cor 14:1 ("Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." NASB95) many times in my life. Why? Because it's a command in Scripture, something we're told to desire earnestly/eagerly, for the glory of God. How many times have I said God told me someone is going to be supernaturally healed? One (I'll add the disclaimer "to my recollection" because I'm 65 and could've made some mistake when I was young I don't recall). Was that person supernaturally healed? Yes. Did I hear an audible voice? I don't think so. Here's the story: in 2014 I had a terrible flu that wasn't going away and one day I called a long-distance friend for prayer. A panicked father picked up the phone and said "Jeff, you've got to pray for my son," (an adult) who had started having terrible stomach aches, went to the doctor and ended up getting a CT scan which showed a large tumor taking up most of the volume of his stomach. Surgery was scheduled in a few days to cut open his stomach and biopsy the tumor to check for malignancy. We prayed and nothing special happened. Then a couple hours later I'm lying in bed going to sleep when I decide to weakly pray one more time "Lord, please heal (name)". A few seconds later I "hear" in my spirit (I don't think it was an audible voice) the words "fluffy jelly". Now at the time I'm feeling half-dead with the flu, so I definitely wasn't trying to name, claim, pontificate, activate or regurgitate anything. I knew that was God telling me that they would find no tumor, only "fluffy jelly". The morning of the surgery, with much caution and after much prayer, I decide to email my friend before the surgery what I felt God had told me, thinking he would see it before the surgery. He did not, but that worked out even better. After the surgery, the surgeon came out and said they had been doing this kind of surgery for decades and had never seen anything like it. They found no tumor, only "a watery, jelly-like substance". Then when my friend and other family members got home after the surgery he saw my email, called everyone in to see it, and they all started "hootin' hollerin' and jumping for joy". The only other time in my life I've shown a "power gift" was about 25 years ago when a close friend and his wife were looking to buy their first home and my friend asked me to pray and see if I got any direction from the Lord about either of the two homes they were thinking about purchasing. A couple days later I called him back and said about 1 of his options "(name), you know I'm not the kind of person who ever goes around telling other people what to do, so I want you to consider this the strongest warning I've ever given anyone in my entire life -- DON'T BUY THAT HOUSE!" Of course they did, and soon after the foundation collapsed, there was water damage everywhere, mold issues that affected his children, etc. My friend with no construction aptitude ended up spending most of his off hours for years working on the home, ruining his health, etc. I again don't think I heard an audible voice from God, but I had spent enough time with God in the various spiritual disciplines that I accurately "got the message" He wanted to send. So I honestly think brother that you may want to be careful not to show the sin of pride, that just because you've never been blessed by God to be a part of something like this (and again, it's totally a blessing from God, certainly not because of anything I did in either case) means maybe it never really happens. Believe me, God knows how utterly disgusted I am about all the fake prophecy, healings, etc. I see people claim so I get the skepticism, but don't throw out the good with the bad.

I hear this in church quite often "I feel led that someone needs prayer for so and so pain" or "God is telling me" then describe something vague. I always wondered about these situations. My logical side tells me that these statements could apply to most of the church, and I wonder why would God be vague. It seems the prophets knew exactly who to speak to when delivering a message from God. Jesus knew exactly what the issue was with those he healed. I do not understand why God would not just tell them who exactly he is talking about.

I disagree with this video, God also speaks to us through the Holy Spirit, and if we get close to God, we can learn to be sensitive to that voice, and discern if it's God or our own thoughts otlr the devil. Sometimes we don't listen to that still small voice, and in hindsight see it was God speaking. Amen

Ok so according to your interpretation, my original calling, which was through an inner voice that sounds like me, told me “you belong to me”, which prompted me to search God, read the Bible, and find Jesus is not only false but a deception of my own heart. Therefore I’m not a real Christian and I should quit Christianity because the most important incident in my life was based on a lie and I never heard the voice of God.

I think God speaks to us and we hear him, and there are many passages that attest to this. I would caution against saying that God wont speak to us. God can communicate in many ways, especially the Holy Spirit, but I would never prophesy on Gods behalf even if he communicated some wisdom to me. I think youre missing on this one. Perhaps you arent articulating your position completely. Most Christians hear God at aome point in their lives.

I partially agree with all spoken. We should always test when spoken to us, who was the one who spoke to you. To say that God doesn’t speak anymore except through the Word is pure nonsense. When we need to make decisions regarding all that considers life, we should always counsel the Lord. Likewise Jesus did and spend all prayer before choosing the twelve. But to say God speaks to you when you’re not spending all your time for doing all to His honor and glory is madness. What I believe shouldn’t bother you, nor what others believe. Nowadays there are many so called men of God but for me I’m testing myself everyday in the light of Scripture to see if I’m really in the faith. Not according to what my neighbor does but according to that what God teaches. If you’re convinced that God spoke to you but what you are telling is in conflict with the written Word of God, you should consider who really spoke to you. I’m definitely convinced that God speaks, even audibly but all is rare and doesn’t happen a lot. I’ve learned to see myself through Scripture. We all should do the same on a daily basis. It will keep us humble. May God keep you and bless you, all in His way.

Matthew 16:17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven." It seems counter-intuitive to pray for wisdom, discernment or guidance from God, but not believe in God's ability to bless you with that communication. May someone help me better understand the verse if I'm misinterpreting it? Perhaps the issue is in what people mean or think when they say "speak" or "hear" or the fact that there are alot of false prophets. However, I believe God the Son/messiah/Jesus through God the Holy Spirit and by the will of God the Father, would not be omnipresent only to be silent and non communicative albeit people probably don't hear Him anywhere near as often as they may think.

@@555T22 Here are a couple examples and my reasoning for why it must be the Holy Spirit. For example, I used to be OK with going to the closest mall. In fact, when I was younger I worked at GNC at the mall. However, now I have to avert my eyes from all the large adds and stores that promote sexual sin. The two stores I dislike the most sell products specifically for tweens and teens (youth). They feature big, sexually suggestive adds and even shirts in the display window with carnal words such as "H*t for my teacher". I didn't like going to my bank when the worldly pop music was blaring stuff about getting drunk, high and other stuff either. It's a real put off. I used to listen to garbage music and wear immodest clothes etc. It has to be the Holy Spirit putting the thoughts in my head that it's offensive. Another example is , not long ago when I was frustrated because my child's winter boots were stuck in a warehouse for weeks because of a postal strike. So, I ordered another pair delivered by Purolator. That order sat around for too long as well because they refused to ship to my address. I said a cranky, rude comment about the store staff because I wasn't able to get any assistance with getting my order sent. I did say one woman was "incompetent" (it wasn't to her face or on the phone). However, I did say it and almost immediately I felt so sorry for doing that. I asked someone else to give her my apology and when I was able to have an email conversation online, I told her myself. I also repented to Jesus. When I said I felt bad about that, someone said it was understandable because I was frustrated. In the past, I probably would have agreed with that. However, now I want to be polite, kind, gentle, patient and forgiving. The Bible gives a few examples of justifiable anger. However, what I did can't be justified. I now have a reference Bible which is handy because I was able to find a bunch of scripture about being kind, not insulting people etc. Only the Holy Spirit can take a jerk like me and stop me from being a jerk. Just because it's not a booming loud voice everyone can hear, that doesn't make it not legitimate.

@@555T22 Hi I did reply to you with detailed experiences with examples. But, YT deleted it. I'll try again and try to keep it basic. When I did something wrong like not being kind or patient, I'd hear a voice in my head saying, "you aren't kind". When I see things that promote sin, I don't want to look at it. For example, I've seen stores that sell things to tweens and teens with disgusting adds and products, like shirts that promote lust for one's teacher etc. It's repulsive. I don't even want to go to the local mall. I used to work at a mall and I never thought about much around me. I'm sure the Holy Spirit is putting these thoughts in my head.

Can you comment on Acts 13:2 - do you think this was audible or a prophetic utterance? What role does prophecy play in these matters? Interested in your viewpoint there. Thanks for sharing this subject - most of what goes on in 'churches' is out of control. Also the first believers did not have the new testament as we have but relied on the Hebrew Scriptures if even available until the Apostles wrote down their messages, but even then they were rare and few had access - maybe the filling of the Holy Spirit makes us different than the old prophets? yet according to Jesus greater than John the Baptist! If God is in us surely we can hear from him in our hearts if we fast and pray as Acts 13?

I agree with this. It does not have to be an audible voice. It is not unbiblical to get knowledge about a situation without hearing from God. I have experienced it - ONCE in my 35 years as a christian. There was no doubt. And it was immediately proved to be correct. It was of GREAT help to a brother that was going through some of the toughest times in his life. And he had told nobody. Planned to keep it a secret, but God knew. What goes on in "churches" is as you say out of control a lot of the times. I don't believe this is something we can and should chase as it will be up to God who is sovereign when he choose to use you. And I think this is the video's intention to show. He have good things to say about Michael Brown's comments. I'm 100% certain Michael Brown would disagree with the statement that knowledge from God has to be handed to us only via either dreams, visions or audible voice. I am certain dr. Michael Brown would say it can be thoughts too. But to make it very clear - you WILL know that it's not your own thoughts. There will be no question.

Then over the next few years, my thoughts showed me my failures. While I don’t listen to so called prophets, no one can not convince me that God didn’t speak to me. It’s been 25 years and still clear. Another thing, if God doesn’t communicate or affirm a new believer though the Holy Spirit then no one would believe. God said, no one comes to me without me calling them. Isn’t that God communicating to them?

@TreyFontenet-p1z God is not circumventing his words, I don't understand how you would come to that conclusion. I'm not appealing to carnality, I'm appealing to the Bible itself. The Bible itself expressly states that God speaks in more ways than just the Bible. For example this passage in the Bible explicitly shows that God speaks outside of the Bible. 'For *God speaks in one way and in another, yet no one notices. In a dream, in a vision in the night, when deep sleep falls upon men as they slumber on their beds,* He opens their ears and terrifies them with warnings to turn a man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride, to preserve his soul from the Pit and his life from perishing by the sword.' (Job 33:14-18) This passage says God speaks in different ways. It lists dreams as an example of God speaking to man. Are dreams the Bible? No. Yet here is the Bible affirming that God speaks outside of just the Bible. The Apostle Paul affirms that he heard God speak to him outside of scripture: But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. (2 Cor 12:9) Do you not hold the same faith as the Apostle Paul who believed God spoke to him outside of scripture? Would you argue against Paul and call him carnal for saying God spoke to him?

Thats why we, the Church, are in such a mess because we don't take captive our thoughts and see if they align with the W.O.G. Instead we sound super spiritual now, because now we can all have a "fresh word from the Lord". Im so thankful that i have come out of this nonsense. I have a lot of "undoing" to do. Unfortunately, my in-laws are still in this nonsense and try to teach it to my teenage sons. So I'm constantly having to try to teach them how what they are sending is not true. On another note, my in laws keep sending my boys videos and messages from the Book of Enoch. I feel thankful that my in-laws care about the spiritual growth of their grandkids but they are leading them in the wrong direction. (Heavy word of faith people. Graduated from Rhema where Kenneth Hagin was their teacher)

For me, it’s not audible, it’s usually the Word/ scriptures and Gospel, events, people and anything that’s not verbally heard. Maybe in the past, God speaks, but as of now, it’s through what I have mentioned.

Taking what you have said seriously If God does not put thoughts into my mind how would you explain the following for me? I had been praying whilst at Bible collage about where I should be heading in the future. A place came to mind somewhere I had no interest in going to. It was the UK Scotland England and Ireland. I had no interest in going so I pushed the thought away. However the next couple of times I went to pray the thoughts came again. So I asked God when He wanted me to go and June popped into my mind. I still didnt wish to go but began to think this was of God so I went to a friend and asked her to pray. I did tell her I thought God was leading me to go overseas but I did not tell her where. I asked her to ask God where he was sending me when I was to go and how much money would he send me to enable me to go. As a Bible student living by faith I didn’t have any money in the bank, just enough money came in to pay board food and some clothing not even enough to pay study fees. She prayed about it and the next day she told me that the destination was the UK, I was to go in their summer and that God would give me enough. Now I was getting more convinced that this was of God so I went and prayed and I said to God if this is really of you I will need a passport all I had in my possession was $1 and the passport was $100 at that time. I said if this is really of you can you please send me the money. Three days later a lady knocked on my door and she handed me a cheque for a hundred dollars telling me that God told her three days ago to give it to me, she had been trying to find me home all that time. On top of this I found out a couple of weeks later that an elderly relative (70) had been praying about visiting her son in Scotland but did not feel able to go overseas on her own and really wanted a companion as soon as she found out she contacted me and she came with me. Many amazing things happened on this trip and some things miraculous as well Anyway if God does not put thoughts into our mind according to your understanding how then was I able to vainly imagine all these things from my heart or seat of emotions? At no time did I hear an audible voice. Should I conclude 1) That it was all just my imagination or 2) it was the enemy or 3) it was of God?

@ so you are saying the devil provided me the money and manipulated several Christians to give me money and to pray and get answers to their prayers? Whilst on this trip I got to share the gospel find a man about to commit suicide at the back of a church and lead him to a Christian ministry in his home town. I also was lead to put aside my tithe and to keep it until God showed me where it was to go. The money went to a n American missionary in Ireland that I met in a Christian bookshop. The amount I had was the exact amount he needed to pay a bill and he had been praying for this need. I was studying the Word of God full time and had given up my job as laboratory manager to go study the Word. I did get a scripture when I prayed about the money needed to go it was Matthew 10:11 to stay with whoever takes you in. I said to God that I didnt have the faith of Corrie tenboom and didnt feel up to this challenge. However when I got off the ferry in Ireland I went to a BnB and the lady who owned it and was not a believer said that God had sent me and I was to stay at her place as long as God would have me stay and was not to pay for food or lodging. I felt so humbled by God that He would still show me His marvellous provision even though I lacked faith enough for that. For brevity sake I have not given the full account of my trip. If what you are saying is true that the devil did this I would like to know why he would provide such things which enabled me to share the Gospel and bless others by providing answers to prayer.

@ I replied earlier but I can’t find it now so if I have done this twice I apologise’\ For brevity sake I did not include the whole saga it would take too long. When I was praying about what I was going to do in the future I was not seeking a sign or wonder. I did not wish to go to the UK it had never entered my mind. I was seeking direction for the future being open to God about what He wanted me to do. After all I had quit my job as laboratory manager to go and study His Word. I did get a scripture Matthew 28 about staying with the one who takes you in when you go to a town, this scripture came into my mind when I was asking God about the money needed to go. I responded to God saying I didn’t have the faith of Corrie Ten Boom and did not think I was bold enough to go without money. When I got to Ireland and arrived at a BNB (without) prior booking) the owner who was not a Christian at this time said that God had sent me and that I was not to pay for food and lodging as long as God wanted me in that town. I was very humbled. On this trip overseas God led me to find a man behind a church who was contemplating taking his life that night. I was able to share the Gospel and lead him to a Christian couple who ran a Christian bookshop at 9pm that night in a town where I knew no one. I was also prompted by God to set aside the amount of my tithe whilst travelling to Dublin as He wanted me to give this to someone there. I met and spoke with a few people in Dublin but it was not until I met Brian an American Missionary that God said to give it to him. Brian broke down crying when I handed it to him as he had been praying about a bill he needed to pay and my amount was exactly what he requested of God. Other things happened on this trip which included sharing the gospel with others as I backpacked around the UK. Now I know that the demons and fallen Angels can make counterfeit signs and wonders but why would they enable me to meet the needs of God’s people so specifically? Why would they enable me to share the Gospel or lead me to convince a man to not end his life because God loved him? There are other scriptures that support my going out into the World to share the good news which are so obvious I din’t think it necessary to have to point them out on a Christian platform. By the way have you read any books by Corrie Ten Boom or the book of George Muller. There are many examples of how God moved and led people to answer specific needs and prayers and I don’t remember them mentioning an audible voice being required. Then there is brother Andrew of Open Doors who has some amazing testimonies. I was once privileged to take Bibles into a closed country on two separate occasions where the specific leading of God was necessary to remain safe.

I appreciate how this brother called into question what is very common christian jive regarding the voice of God. I also appreciate his acknowledgement of the legitimate. It is both ironic and telling that he can speak of only the jive from an experimental perspective and the legitimate from only a theoretical one - “I am open to it…”. I think this helps to demonstrate the fact that God rarely speaks. He does still speak, but He is no chatter box. The word of the Lord is rare, precious, wonderful and terrible. When He speaks, truly speaks, there is no doubt. It is faith creating. Faith comes by hearing the utterance of God. There are no “how to’s” for hearing God’s voice. When He speaks, His voice is awesome and powerful, and it will cause us to ascribe to Him the glory that is due His name. The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty. The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon. He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox. The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, “Glory!” God really speaking, uttering (Rhema) is a rare thing indeed. An actual utterance of God is a very high and powerful thing. It was the fiat of creation. God does communicate through dreams and visions and prophecy, as this good brother states, but that is communication, not necessarily an utterance. That is the difference between logos and Rhema. Logos is communication of any kind, while Rhema is strictly an utterance. God actually speaking is a very high thing. Perhaps that is why it is so rare, at least in my own experience, and in what I have observed in the church. Let me give an example of the difference. I have a friend who shared with me a dream that he had and he mentioned it to me because it stood out to him in some manner, more than any other dream he might have. It was filled with obvious spiritual symbolism and it related to him something regarding his relationship to another, to the Bible, and to his denomination. It also revealed what he would come to discover in the future as God reveals to him the truth. He told me the dream, which was most obviously a communication to him from God, and then he laughed it off, disregarded it, and promptly forgot it. I recorded it in my journal, as best as I could remember it. I asked for clarification from him a few weeks later, but he had so disregarded the dream that I recalled it better than he. A few months later, we found ourselves together in the most unlikely circumstances imaginable, standing together watching God confirm the dream before our eyes. I reminded him of the dream, and he again laughed it off. As a cessationist, he was unimpressed with the entire experience. I found it to be a powerful demonstration of God’s providence and provision. God uses dreams to “speak” to those to whom the “word of the Lord” has never been revealed, including pagan kings, such as Nebuchadnezzar. Here we have a minister who could dismiss such communication from God more easily than a pagan! Amazing! Not so with His utterance. His word that proceeds out of His mouth accomplishes that for which He sends it. His bondservants hear His voice. His love slaves have and obey His commands. When he speaks to an individual, it is life changing and eternal is essence and import, and while a dream or vision communicates a truth, the word of the lord connects the human spirit to God’s Spirit and plants something deep within the human heart, usually in seed form, that is not fully understood, appreciated or apprehended at the time. God at times speaks, not only to plant that seed in His servants and in the world, but to simultaneously separate and judge. Remember that in John 12:28, John recorded God speaking to Jesus. Jesus, and presumably John, heard God speak. Some, however, heard a messenger, and some heard only thunder. This voice came as the voice of God only to his beloved, it came as an apparently, at least somewhat significant message, to others, and only as an unintelligible rumbling to those to whom the voice came in judgment. The word of the Lord is a rare thing. I have many times earnestly sought the word of the Lord regarding major life decisions, and He has, those precious few times, spoken to me, and His word provided the faith to walk through the difficult and trying years of the word of the Lord testing me. He has also spoken to me when I was not seeking a word. Those were tremendous and surprising invasions of time and space by He who is eternal with His word that is living and powerful. His very brief words to me have carried my wife and I through many years of testing, and, like His written word, they have carried more meaning in a few sentences than volumes could ever communicate or than the mind of carnal man could comprehend. The voice of my beloved has been perhaps the most, or at least one of the most precious of my experiences with Him whom my soul loves. Many, unfortunately, have never heard the voice of my beloved. They hear the messenger, perhaps, or a distant rumble that is dismissed as the voice of nature. From the time that God called Isaiah to the time that He actually sent him was perhaps 16 years. Look at how rarely the word of the Lord is recorded as coming to the prophet Daniel in the seventy plus years of life, or in the record of human history, for that matter. To be sure, God actually speaking is a rare thing indeed. While I will contend that God still speaks extra biblically as well as through His written word to His sheep who hear His voice and who will actually follow Him, I will also contend that God actually speaking (something beyond an inspired scripture) is a relatively rare event, except during times of significant renewal. Those who constantly claim that God said this and God said that are usually selling something. 😉

The Holy Spirit is a person, He has reminded me of passages while praying and talking with God. I see this as God answering or directing me to what the Word say. I have experienced The Holy Spirit actually taking inside of me, in most cases through the use of His Word. It is clearly distinct from my own thoughts. You are mistaken to say that all Christians should have thoughts inline with the Bible, we don't. Otherwise why do we need to take every tought captive and make it obedient to Christ ( 2 Corint 10:5 ) if all our thoughts where Biblical? What you say here is unbiblical and incorrect. We have a sinfull nature, we have sinfull desires, our hearts sins, because we are sinners. Some thoughts are sinfull, some are from the devil, some are from the Holy Spirit. And we need to train our mind to think in line with what the Word teach, which The Holy Spirit will help you with. Spiritual gift of discernment is a gift that let's the person with that gift know if something is from God, Flesh or the demonic. It works in a strange ways and I believe it's different with each person who have that gift, how The Holy Spirit operates with that person. The best teaching to this topic is to ask God for direction, ask Him to help you discern His guidance. Read the Bible, get to know the Word of God. Ps 25:5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

The reason why many revert to scripture as the voice of God is because they have never heard the voice of God for themselves. They have a relationship with scripture but no relationship with the Author of scripture. Any person who has confidently heard the Lord speak can say with certainty 'the LORD says', or 'God says'. So many people think that scripture or the Bible speaks to every human experience when it does not do they never go to the source who is God our Father. When I see the comments I've seen here, I cringe because too many of y'all are dependent on mans interpretation of scripture rather than listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit to teach you what to do in specific situations. Scripture does not tell us everything there is to know about God not does it tell us everything that God is willing, able to do, and will do. Don't put limits on God with what limitations we have through scripture.

The Bible tells you what type of person to marry, but not who to marry. It tells you how to work, but not which occupation to pursue. Furthermore, we cannot know exactly what happened when the Bible writing OT prophets heard God speak. How can this podcaster be so sure that it must have been an audible voice? Even if they did hear an audible voice, this could have been an auditory hallucination. This seems to be a case for eliminating the leading of the Holy Spirit almost entirely from the life of a Christian. Yes, of course we cannot imagine we have heard God speak when it is just our own ideas. Wise people check revelation against the Bible and are willing to consult and pray with Christian leaders equipped to provide guidance.

It's really not complicated and he made it that way so all can know and understand. Can your imagine if EVERYONE claims GOD spoke to them audibly and directly. There would be more than 1 BIBLE as it stands there is ONLY 1 BIBLE and 1 WAY he speaks to us NOW and his word will NEVER change. This os not only through the scriptures as we read his word and get to know him. Jesus speaks with his audible voice and so does the Holy Spirit. I was asleep one day back in 2000, and I heard loud and clear in my room aeound 3am a beeutiful voice firm but loving and wonderful tvst said to me: Let your light so shine. Thstcis a scripture in the Binle and Jesus is thd word. I thought I was just hearing vouces, so I turn and tried to go back to sleep. To my amazement, i heard Jesus laugh and he said laughing, don't you believe me? I jumped out of bed wrll aware in awe that the Hod of Creation spoke to this piece of dust that I am. The Holy Spirit also speaks. His voice is an internal voice loud and clear but only you hear it. I was very concerned about my sister in Christ who had stage 4 cancer and I heard the Holy Spirit tell me, She shall live and not die to declare tve glory of the Lord. The restvis history. I communicated what Hod said to her and she has been healed of cancer, alive and well and working. So no one can tell me that does not soeak to us. He is a rewarder of those who seek him. Aleluya!

@iThinkBiblically I honesty think so yes. Do you know how many people get in trouble financially, because they work for years to save money for a deposit to buy a vehicle and then that vehicle cost them so much money because of unseen mechanical and electrical problems, or you get into an accident because of a mechanical failure you did not know of and someone dies or is disabled. All sorts of things can happen, but if you did consult God He will guide you, because He would know that there is something wrong with one or two or all three of them. I don't say you must ask God for guidance for every little thing like, must I go for a walk in the park, or must I wash my car, or whatever reason. I talk about big decisions like, buying a car, a house; job interviews, investing your savings ect. And I don't discredit what you say or mocking you, I honestly want to know how a person should approach such circumstances! Maybe I am too materialistic and I know even if God does give you the go ahead to do something you might also face the same problems, but to a certain degree if something does happen you rest assure that whatever happens it is God's will.

The arguments made in this video are quite poor. It seems your preferred option is to ignore the whole idea of the Holy Spirit speaking to Christians. This is a typical cessationist viewpoint. Typical word bound ignore the Spirit perspective. He reaches for a commentary as though it somehow has any sort of authority on the matter. It is obscene how you and teachers like you mishandle and misrepresent the Bible. I can at least agree with you at 4:16 where you correctly state that "Prophecy is claiming to speak on behalf of God and claiming to have received a revelation" But I disagree that "Teaching is teaching from the text of scripture" which is a misrepresentation. Correctly stated it is Teaching is teaching what YOU THINK the scripture means. Don't get me started on how your own thoughts about what scripture means are just as much a problem as the one you have pointed out which is telling whether the thoughts you get are from God or not. The fallacy of your position can be summed up "God can't touch your mind. It will always be your own thoughts and never his". That puts a right perspective and illuminates the fallacy of this video. I think you are quite blind to just how big a problem the contentions you make in this video are in terms of their implications for Christian life. There is no evidence from the passage relating to Elijah that what he heard was an audible voice. You can't rule out that the "soft voice" he heard was in his own thoughts, in fact the Biblical text just isn't clear on this point. So as I stated above it is YOUR THOUGHTS about the Bible. You are making an interpretation of the text and stating it with a level of sureness that isn't warranted by the text. God cannot directly speak to you through his word. This is just not possible. Somewhere there your brain is involved and in generating understanding your brain can make many misunderstandings. That's a real problem for you. You can't evict God from your thoughts, and we are back to the same problem of working out how to tell God's thoughts in your mind from your thoughts. I'll also say that claiming that God only speaks by an audible voice does not alliviate the problem, much as you wish it would. I am afraid you need to go back to the drawing board on this issue. There might be a risk with entertaining extra biblical revelations even if these are consistent with and align with the scriptures, but there is also the risk of idolatory where you give a book what belongs only to the living God.

Yes, God can burden our hearts for someone or for something but that's different to getting a specific message through our thoughts and saying "God told me this and that". If your burdened by God to do something you don't need to figure out whether its from God or not, God will continue to burden you to do it until you do.

'Yes, God can burden our hearts for someone or for something but that's different to getting a specific message through our thoughts' Can not the God that burdens hearts also give a specific message through our thoughts? What scriptures says God can do one and not the other?

No ,it’s good when people say God told me because now they will be critiqued using a higher standard, if that which they say doesn’t come to pass, they are to be disregarded, this is of their own doing.

It’s overused in Christian circles.i knew of someone who’s young son was hit by a car,the church had a prayer meeting and someone said that "God Spoke to them, and that the boy would live" the mother was a Christian the father of this boy wasn’t,anyway sadly the boy didn’t live. The father was so discouraged and bitter at God for the rest of his life,he said that God was a liar.it wasn’t God that said that, but the person felt it in his emotions and passed on that msg to this couple. It’s very dangerous to confuse our feelings with thinking that God impressed that in his mind. That man took the msg as it was passed on to him,and hardened his heart towards God.😢

The Word is the foundation indeed and essential above all things. Just as Christ is. But we are also commanded at the end of 1 cor 12 to covet or desire the greater, more powerful, useful gifts. Love being of course the greatest. But also points to the importance of prophesy over tongues and one can discern the usefulness of others through understanding the what the word says about them. Don’t just stop at the word. We are also asked to edify the church and perfect the saints. The more efficient the better.

The Word of God is His compas ruler and plumb line. It's is the lamp unto feet to see where stand and light unto our path to see the direction which we are to to go and to avoid pot holes of life in Him. Meanwhile, it's the holy Spirit that speaks to our soul & spirit using the Word of God to make heavens calling a reality by leaving an impression on the heart the reality of GOD...

I've been having dreams of the end times lately. But I'm not telling what happened in them since that's what they are, dreams. I've watched a lot of Revelation videos so it may have affected my dreams.

When someone tried to say “God told me this…” and you challenge them and say “can you show me Biblically where that is?” They will get so defensive about it and that’s how you know it’s deception and not of God.
