@@kimberlyd7398 You show a fundamental lack of understanding of what money is, just like this KZbinr. Money- Money is a medium for efficient exchange. You may have corn that I cannot or will not grow. I have a skill, such as building a house that you are incapable of. Thus, we trade those things to each other. But, you don't need to carry a bushel of corn, and I don't need to carry a hammer and nails. Our money does the same exchange. I need corn, but not right now, and you need a house, maybe very soon. Or maybe I don't want your corn. I want your neighbors wheat, but he doesn't need a house. Your neighbor wants corn, but you want bananas. All of us by our labor have now a medium of exchange that we can use to buy what we need. It is still trade. It is just done through a uniform medium of exchange that represents what we have that is of value to someone else. Therefore, we are, in essence, trading your example of spices, food, etc. Jesus expects us to be self sacrificial. He won't force you, but the Bible says to present your bodies as a living sacrifice. It says to _deny_ yourself and to take up your cross _daily_ or you cannot be His disciple. In other words, you probably should be giving enough that it feels like a real sacrifice, that you are denying what you want in order to help others. Technically, the NT requires much more of you than the OT!!

This is probably #1 reason why nonbelievers won't go to church that I been told. They keep saying the church is after their money, and sadly, they are correct because of the popularity of this false doctrine. What is even more sad is that a lot of preachers will defend this false doctrine as a means for the funds to buy for the church expenses rather than to attend to the needs of the poor.

I think the church is operating like a business not a church. We as a church should not only feed people crumbs but also assist people who need financial help. Instead of tithing I think you should look around and use that money to help others. Make the pastors get a regular Job and stopping pushing people or guilt tripping people to give tithe and offering and when they are in a situation where now they need assistance there is no help.

I was simply told from the "church board". I asked why were they not confronting me personally? Why would they not reveal themselves? Why hide in the secret? Apparently you cant be in leadership when you don't tithe. I asked the pastor to please show me the authority given to them by scripture to do this. He could or would not. Chased like a dog in a dark ally. That congregation soon after split up. What me and a couple of congregants were doing was tithing without our name on the envelope. I felt i had no need to defend my position and the pastor did the same for quite a while. I did not know that he had changed he's position. Being the outcast for many years, you learn a lot about the system that keeps the beast alive. News spread quickly in my province so nobody wanted a "none tither" or people asking biblical questions. So I'm still walking the road but not in the building supporting sense, doing matt28:19. Finding those rejected by the buildings that ask questions. The tithe under the Mosaic law was a tenth of the increase of the land. He and his family has to pay electrical, food, gas, and clothing bills. How is he supposed to do that without pay? If he has to get a job to do all that it takes him away from time spent with his parishioners and you all suffer. Also, a good church supports missionaries so all the money doesn’t just go to the pastor but it is used to spread the gospel throughout the world.

The home church setting can be a very good thing. We started as one and have a small congregation now that meets at a different location. You can quickly outgrow a home. The other guy commenting on your post seems to take exception with your comment regarding the negotiations for a preacher. I have a lot of thoughts on this, but I'll just say that if a preacher is more concerned about vehicle allowances and is not willing to negotiate his salary, then be careful. I am a preacher and I've seen preachers fleece churches. A lot of people out there are preaching or involved in the mission field for nothing more than the money. Maybe they didn't start out that way, but it happens, unfortunately. But the churches are a mess right now, generally speaking. It's unfortunate and there is plenty of blame to go around. Preachers are very often mistreated and abused by the congregations that pay them, while on the flip side, some preachers want far more than can be paid, or even more than they are worth. In my experience, the church functions great when people actually act like Christians and put the church first. It never works when people decide to put themselves first.

I agree with the comments on this page. Did you know that, concerning giving, or tithing, or prosperity, Malachi 3:8-12 is not the full counsel of God? It is an excerpt, quoted to the church for centuries (believe it or not), which is a misrepresentation of God's counsel. We've accepted it because that's what we have always been taught. Here are a few points to consider. -- Who did God appoint to receive tithes? God said, "And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth [the tithe] in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation (Numbers 18:21-23). In this scripture, God established who receives the tithe (the Levites), and why they received it (they received no inheritance, and they served in the temple). This assignment is exclusive to Levites. A pastor cannot assume this assignment, he has never been scripturally assigned by God to collect tithes, he is not a Levite. In that same sense, only a Levite, never a pastor, could ever serve in a Jewish temple. The church has not replaced the Jewish temple, and pastors have not replaced Levites. -- People are blessed when they give, not because of Malachi 3, which is based on the Law of Moses, an Old Testament law that has been replaced by Grace under Christ, at the cross. They are blessed because Jesus said, "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you" (Luke 6:38). It is this principle of giving and receiving at work, when we give and are blessed. Not the expired law of tithing, which was required of the Jews (never Gentiles), and could only be received by Levite priests because they received no inheritance and were set apart to work fully in the Jewish temple. -- There is much more to this, such as Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek, Jacob's promise to tithe, the history of when and why the New Testament church tithes (there is actually a date!), and the scriptures that speak to these issues. To be clear, every pastor has a right to collect offerings in support of the ministry; I fully agree with supporting the church financially. But our giving must be godly. It is wrong to require people to tithe, contrary to the scriptures, then say that we live according to the scriptures. Four biblical truths, regarding tithing: (1) There is no scripture that authorizes anyone but a Levite to receive tithes. (2) There is no scripture that authorizes a pastor to receive tithes. (3) There is no scripture that requires a Gentile to tithe. (4) There is no scripture that requires the church to tithe. If you're interested in learning more, check out "Tither, You Are Free!", available on Amazon. Blessings to you and your ministry!

and i am another. you not alone bro. I had this one out 20 years ago in my fellowship, and had to leave. The main tithe we learn in the laws of moses, was the family held its tenth of all produce and income and went with it and had a big party in honour of their God, if they had to go a long way they were to sell it and just carry the money, so when they got there they bought good celebratory food and "strong drink" and had their big party. Only every three years did they put it at their gate to be collected for payment to priests and orphans and widows. As they were a theocracy this is obviously govt tax. That was the way that the law taught in OT. If our church teaches tithe then why not this biblical method??? even so its a third of ten percent annually if they want us to give to pastor without the party fun.

I became a Christian 51 years ago, one of the first things that I heard was tithing. It seemed to contradict the doctrine of grace, "by grace are you saved, through faith, not by works lest any man should boast." If tithing was required, then our righteousness before God was not imputed, but rather earned. If abstaining from paying a tithe can separate us from God and put us under a curse then Christ did not fulfill the law.

I currently don't have a church because it's hard to find a biblical Christian church; not to mention many pride themselves in celebrating pagan holidays in their services and have women as "co pastors". They’ve been distorted because false churches come to their own conclusion. ONE man comes to his own conclusions of the Word and goes off and declares himself a pastor and twist the Bible to their fallible understanding. 2 Peter 1:20 which states: "Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation." I will say obviously not all are false churches. There is a true church. 1 Timothy 3:15 says "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." I know the true church to be the church who gave us the New Testament. And they do not require a tithe.
@KaraboMasemola6408 Жыл бұрын
Although no tithe is demanded of the Christian, the New Testament talks about the importance and benefits of giving. We are to give as we are able. Sometimes that means giving more than 10 percent; sometimes that may mean giving less. It all depends on the ability of the Christian and the needs of the body of Christ. Every Christian should diligently pray and seek God’s wisdom in the matter of participating in tithing and/or how much to give (James 1:5). Above all, offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Much of what you state is true, as I have also researched these issues for many, many years. But any parishioner who chooses to use a church building rather than their own home or a place of business, etc... ought to help out with the cost of support as they too benefit from the uses of such facilities. I mean, don't you appreciate the comfy chairs, the A/C, the lights or running water in the laboratory, and drinking fountain? How about the work in volved in managing the place (Our church has a part-time custodian), and the hours spent by your pastor preparing a sermon, or office work? It's not like the pastor gets to keep the building if he moves on or passes away. The building really belongs to the community of believers who use it as long as it is still active.

My husband and I didn’t give much because neither of us felt called to. Recently our pastor started a young adult class (it’s really just me, my husband, and the pastor). He’s put a very big emphasis on tithing and how we need to tithe in order to receive blessings. So my husband and I looked at our church spending records over the past couple months and it’s insane! Our church is very small (25 people average) and we have over 150k in the bank. Of course this made us really mad since whenever there’s a family in our community all the church can scrounge up is $100. I understand the church has expenses but the church isn’t even following their own 10% rule

It’s unbelievable my brother that your way of seeing that tithing and actual “churches buildings “ are not biblical is been the same way I’ve seen it my whole life, but without your perfect biblical support , I tell you again, it’s a shame that I don’t have your videos translated to Spanish. Here in Miami Florida there’s so much need for the brothers and sisters in churches to understand your teachings and hear you out in Spanish , the “church business “ here is a mess. If some day you could translate your videos in Spanish, I will post them all in my worshiping channel 100% with pleasure. May God bless you and keep you 🙏

If God lays it upon your heart to give whether it's 10% or even 5%, by all means, give what was purposed in your heart. We should not be scared into giving. If you are scared into giving, then you will not be giving with a cheerful spirit. If you have no money to give you can give of your time or talent.

This is the best and clearest teaching I have ever come across. I agree that the home church model is the way to go. I think we’ve become “stuck” in the church model of today. Everyone needs a building to house their programs, sanctuary and offices for staff and whatnot which creates the need for income generation to pay for it.

Nice to have this video pop up in my feed. Paul being a former Pharisee & a Roman, fashioned the early church's organization after the Roman Empire which was so unlike what Jesus had taught. Something so simple was made so complicated & contrary to the teaching of the person they were supposed to be following. Tithing is yet another area that got twisted & taught incorrectly. Thanks for setting things right.

I think it's wise to pray about this before settling on a decision, and let that decision be led by the Holy Spirit and the Word. After all, the role of the Holy Spirit is to help us remember and understand scripture. Tithing has been commercialised but I give tithes because the Lord instructed me to. I had these same questions, and going to the Lord in prayer He showed me Malachi 3:10, even after some months i had not given to the Lord, he reminded me of Malachi 3. I rather obey what the Lord has instructed rather than someone on youtube, even if the command from the Lord is my personal test of obedience.

Then a poor widow came along and put in two small copper coins. Jesus teaches the disciples that the woman gave more than the rich. The poor woman, as a widow, would have had no source of income after her husband's death. Therefore the two small copper coins were all she had - and yet she offered them to God.

Jesus did not use this example to require us to offer all we have to God. Jesus only stated that the poor widow gave MORE than anyone else.

In 2003 I was going to a church where he taught about the extra tithe every third year so he kept emphasizing this is 2003 so that's the third year he taught that year we should give a double tithe, 20%. Then he said if we can't do that then just give 13.3% every year and then that way you'd be caught up by that third year. He also said God told him to tell the people that for one week out of the year onEaster give 100% of your income so one week's income on Easter or more he actually said give your best cuz God gave his best gave his son for us so people would give more than 1 weeks income they would have bake sales and car washes , some people even sold their homes to give as much as possible on Easter Sunday. They even came up with a plan for you to be able to do it he said start 7 weeks before Easter and each week hold back one day's income that way by Easter you would have 7 Days of income saved up. After the offering was taken they would go back and count it up while service was going on and at the end of the service they would bring the pastor the final numbers of what was given the pastor would announce it to the congregation and they erupted in cheering.......I left the church the following year and at that point quit going to church buildings. I like the idea of the home Church.

I wish I knew this sooner. Years ago, my husband and I and our kids attended a Word of Faith church for 14 years. We were pretty poor to begin with but that church manipulated us all out of money we couldn't afford. They misused Malachi 3 to death and shoved it down our throats. Every Sunday we had to give the tithe but they would also have 2-4 offerings as well. In the end, my husband and I had to file bankruptcy twice, car repossessed and lost our house to foreclosure. They didn't help us in our need. When God removed us from the church and we home churched for 10 months, I really started reading Scripture for myself. The first thing the Holy Spirit showed me was the truth about Tithes. God is so good. Now, I make sure to try to give to those in need. God's heart has always been towards the poor, the widow's and the orphans. The church's take money and it goes into the building or pay for the pastor. This is not biblical. Give directly to the poor. They need it. Not a brick building
@NarrowPathDoctrine2 жыл бұрын
Amen brother. Love the bit on church buildings and meeting in homes. There are many Christians (who surprisingly enough are pastors and work in churches, go figure), who call those who don't meet in a local church building non-Christians. This is completely unbiblical. I was baptized in a local church and when I applied to become a member, the first question I was asked was how much and how often do I intend to "give" to the church.

Majority of churches are like this. I no longer go to church due to the deception that’s within the building. So many idolize the building, their pastors etc but miss that we as the body of Christ are the church. Jesus doesn’t tell us to go to church every Sunday and sit and listen to a pastor we are to take the church to people meaning to and preach everywhere and anywhere helping people come to Christ. Jesus used open air and street corners to preach the apostles tracked with Jesus and went to people homes to preach. The building is not the church it’s us.

@----------..........123me. So I'm wrong for thanking Caleb for his efforts to help a brother in Christ who has a need to be treated for a debilitating ailment? What's wrong with my comment, dude? Not to mention your lack of understanding of clear biblical teachings. Try reading scripture in the context it's written in. It's called good harmonutics, friend. And if you refuse to even try to understand scripture, in the context, format, and directed and intended audience its ment for, you are just ignorant. And to top it off, your are running around KZbin, commenting to people in an instigating and provoking way, clearly looking for an argument about non-essential doctrines. Probably should learn to pick and choose your battles a bit better. And to add that you obey a doctrine that you're in error about, yet you don't obey other scriptures like not being quarrelsome, creating decention and divisions, or correcting your opponents with kindness and gentleness (2 Tim. 2:22-26), that would be hypocrisy friend. Remove the log from your own eye first. Please don't comment on other people's comments that literally don't have anything to do with the topic you're looking to argue about. Have a nice day.
