I have to give massive credit to Caleb and other finance KZbinrs. Our parents grew up not knowing ANY of this. If you didn't learn it in school, you didn't learn it at all. Or you had to pay professionals for the same advice. It's amazing how quickly money accumulates once you have your spending under control and once you're aware of good debt vs bad debt. .

Hey everyone, I want to clarify some things that weren't really clear in the video. The debt is not all mine. Yes, it's under my name. After I and my gf lost our 2 y/o in December she shut down and I took over the finaces for both of us. The car loan is for her car because her previous car died, the emergency dental work was also for her. So we are working on paying of the debt together. So it's not just my income going towards it, it's hers too and she makes more than I do. So we have a solid plan to have it paid off by the end of the year.

This one was a little bit harder to watch. I think that him and his girlfriend losing their child put them both in an unhealthy mental state and because of that they were spending money to help them get through it. I feel like that’s being overlooked. Wishing them both the best and if they decide to get married it would be best for combining finances.

In some ways I wish he had waited some more months before coming on the show. There is a phenomenon where people do grief spending after a loss. It isn't cognitively done, it's a psychological reaction. I have been there myself. I got into the worst debt of my life after a big loss. It's hard to stop. It's not a great idea to come on and get yelled at right after this period. They maybe should have stayed in therapy a bit longer and worked on the grief spending there.

Homework is pointless it doesn't not teach you anything school should stay at school but instead we get teachers telling kids it's ok to be a girl or boy and if you want to be a girl but you're a boy it's ok will cut it off. I went through a divorce about 10 years ago, i accrued over $40k of auto loans (with lots of negative equity) and credit card debt. I used the debt snowball effect and it took about 6 years to get out of. Cash is the way to go everyone. I have 1 credit card that I use for gas and that’s about it. I have an emergency fund and love the feeling of not having creditors calling me everyday.

I suggested this at an older video, but I think it's good to allocate money in advance for a _bit_ of fun. Say $15 a month for Netflix, or an equivalent. Psychologically, once you break the boundaries you set up for yourself, it's much easier to let go of them entirely, so allocating some fun ahead of time can forestall the need to have fun by breaking said boundaries.

Gotta hand it to my parents for teaching me the habits otherwise I’d be in this guys shoes. I got about 7k invested in efts and 2k in cash. Started at 18 now 21 so took me about 3.5 years to get to this point on 25k income. I’m in nursing school (paying as I go) so when I graduate hopefully my income 2-3x then I can save for a house to get into real estate but that way down the road. To prepare for buying the house, I’ve credit cards but I put my phone bills, internet, and groceries. Can whine give me more methods to improve? @@Thegenzsaint Yeah. It’s all automated so I don’t even think about it. I check my mint and update thing on my spreadsheet weekly but I don’t do more than that. My income is about 2100 a month. I take home about 1900 after taxes. My mom and I do half half on most bills . 650 (water included) rent, 60 Wi-Fi, 30 gas, 55 electricity, 30 phone, 70 for car insurance, 200 family groceries. Nothing more that I can think of atm. Adds up to $1100 for necessity’s. So with $800 leftover I put half into etfs. 150 into a savings and the 250leftover is the “fun” money but I mostly save anyways. I honestly think I need to spend a bit more because I have almost no social life. So I did get a gym membership for $50 a month and been trying to find a workout buddy. I do want to somewhat enjoy life but I can never step foot of the gas. Edited: Car loan is paid off since April. Mom pays the gas on car since I was paying the bulk of the car loan.

He also had single ventricle physiology as well as several other defects (Dorv, a/v canal defect, tricuspid atresia, pulmonary stenosis requiring a BT shunt followed by a central shunt, and more). I had to watch my baby fight for his life multiple times, sit helplessly by his side while he's medically paralyzed so he doesn't pull the ECMO cannulas out of his body. ECMO, dialysis, and ventilator all working to keep him alive. But the happy times, when he got to grow up and play with his big brother, got to be home for holidays and birthdays, his contagious, joyful smile that never seemed to leave his face, the fact that the only words he ever learned to say were "happy" and "bye- bye..." he, and all heart warriors are very special kids.

He advocates for therapy and mental health, but when he has encountered people who are genuinely struggling with being triggered by his yelling, he just brushes it off. In this video, being overly judgemental about weed. While I do understand this is financial advice, just immediately shitting on people doesn't help them be receptive to you. Even better, use a card for the bonuses/perks, but actually pay it in full every month before it's due. You get the perks, and no interest paid. I effectively use my credit card as a debit card, I don't spend unless I have the funds directly in my account. Basically, don't use it as debt. But, of course, this only works if you're not already in debt. People need to learn to use debt properly.

In regards to the house: I work in real estate title, I have to work with deeds and mortgages and debt liens on property all day. Please do not transfer the title to that house without going through a formal sale of the house from the parents to your girlfriend (or both of you if you are married). That means the two of you will have to qualify for a NEW mortgage on your own income and debt-to-income ratio. If you start transferring that title while the old mortgage is still in the parents' names, it triggers the "due on sale" clause that is in most mortgages and the mortgage company can now come after you guys for the entire outstanding amount of that mortgage in full, immediately. And bad news, deed transfers are free public information and those mortgage companies do watch for them. You can't just go around moving property that is being used to secure a debt, you have to go through the proper channels of formally buying the house and closing on your own mortgage when you take ownership. It will be a mess if you do it any other way.

It would be more representative of the person's monthly income to not report twice their biweekly income as their monthly income. On a biweekly pay schedule you receive 26 pay checks a year. On a bimonthly pay schedule you receive 24 pay checks a year. For this person, their monthly income is not 2800 (twice their biweekly) but rather 2800 + 2800/12 (the two extra pay checks from the biweekly pay schedule spread across all 12 months) or $3033.33.

Over the course of a year it does make their finances more accurate but those "extra" paychecks only come every 6 months. You could be following that budget for 5 months yet still be losing actual on-hand cash until that paycheck comes in to even everything out. Since so many of these people have zero emergency fund saved (or a few hundred at most) that's going to put them in trouble fast. Best to treat those 2 paychecks as bonuses to further pad savings, pay down debt, or make up for some bumps in the road when trying to follow the budget.

Now working on saving my E-Fund back up and opened a Ally Savings Account with the 3.45% but can’t figure out how to pull everyweek to put into that account. Being a truck driver when looking at my personal account I was shocked at how much I actually swiped my debit card.
