Thank you SO MUCH for this series- I just learned 3 things I was wondering about- the grow light thing was a huge problem for me- lots of leggy plants for my first try. Second try currently under works. Last year I planted my peppers too close to my tomatoes and they were completely in shadow- I had not idea that was the right thing to do. I may try it again this year.

I actually had a tomato plant here in Phoenix I did this with and it grew back out and produced more tomatoes the second time around! Amazing. Will be doing this with the peppers this year to see how it goes, our weather is similar but some years we get very little freeze so we grow different varieties of vegetables year round.

Hi Kim. I'm in 5B suburban Chicago. I've been bringing in potted Bell Peppers in the winter for 3 years now. I cut back the plant to about 12" tall and keep it watered and stored in a lit basement. I have 1-3 large peppers grown indoors on 2 potted plants. Mid May I'll be able to move outside on the west facing deck. Fun to have fresh peppers during the cold weather!

One of your earlier videos piqued my interest in the California Wonder sweet pepper. I have several almost ready. I have many new varieties I am trying this year, one interesting one being Rezha Macedonian. It has an unusual corked skin and is in the same heat range as a Jalapeño. I may be pushing my peppers because I have a few already planted in zone 8a. I will be ok because I grew three batches of plants sown a few weeks apart because spring caught me early last year. I could have planted a month earlier than my usual time around Easter. I love the longer format videos. I rewatch my favorites often. Television these days is devoid of interesting programs. Thanks to you, Gary Pilarchik, and Patrick Dolan, I have an almost limitless supply of entertaining and informative videos to watch. Many thanks.

Hi Joe - love hearing about the different varieties you are growing - the CA wonder is amazing - you'll love it! I also grew the Rezha Macedonian last summer - loved the unusual look. I don't think I had it in the right spot - it wasn't super productive, but since you had such great results, I'll definitely try again! So glad you are enjoying the gardening content, Gary and Patrick both have amazing videos. Much more to come this spring and summer. Thanks for watching!

IDK about "over Wintering" but I dig up my pepper plants about a couple weeks before the first fall frost & put them in their own 12" pot with a tiny bit of fertilizer, bring them inside & just put them near or in my South facing window & they KEEP PRODUCING PEPPERS ALL YEAR LONG!!! I kept 2-3 plants year round for 3.5years till I accidently let them get too cold one year!

You could use white mosquito netting/tulle, to put over the p,ant to keep the bugs, caterpillars, aphids, birds, squirrels, etc.out. My favorites are the Italian frying peppers. (Cubanelle)

Wow so informative. Thank you so much for breaking down why you do what you do while gardening. Until I found you, I haven’t heard anyone talk about the “why” so I’m never able to make it through an entire video of this length but you totally had me from the start. Thanks!

Thanks for great info Kim. Your garden is beautiful and neat. I love peppers too. One thing I don't approve is the use of styrofoam products in planting or anything only because it doesn't compost and harsh to the environment. Continue to do more videos , your channel is one of the places I go for advices and info in gardening. Stay pretty !

For Germination, Try using Warm Water for first watering in the bottom of your big tray. Seep the Warm water from underneath in the pan that you put your tray into. Poor warm water in the tray that you will put your newly planted Seed Tray into, Ounce warm water is in and you lay your Seed tray on top of the warm water. Let the warm water soak in through the bottom until very moist and just let it grow from there. The warm water will Germinate the seeds without putting electrical heating pad, near any water. could be scary water is an excellent conductor. Means if water is touching the pad and the puddle of water could be big enough to arch you to the plug. I would hate anything to happen to you. Your so good at growing.

I see why your trying to keep it as dry as possible. with Heating Pad. Instead of A tray of Warm Water, Because you are Growing in your Dinning Room. But you still need to water. So a tray of Warm Water is more Practical for Germinating. Cost of a Heating Pad compared to just Warm Water.

Well darn, I already have a million sweet pepper seedlings and only a couple jalapeno seedlings! I need some more hot peppers to make that jelly! That is my favorite appetizer to make at Christmas (store bought jelly, which isn't cheap!). I need to make a batch this year!
