I'm not sure how Joel Olsteen is viewed from a Catholic point of view but as a Protestant, in my circles, he's kind of viewed as a joke. He isn't very thoughtful when it comes to biblical matters and is the face of the "prosperity gospel" that runs counter to what Christ taught and is the opposite what was practically lived out by most church fathers an almost all believers. Still would be an interesting conversation though.

Joel Osteen is a good motivational, inspiring speaker, but His Church is not Gods Church. Gods Church, the only one He started with His apostles is the Catholic (Universal) Church. God appointed His apostles first Pope & Priests, gave THEM His authority & Sacraments and commanded them to spread His Church Infallibly to the world. Jn 1:42, Mk 3:14-19, Mt 16:18-19, Jn 21:15-17, Eph 2:19-22, 4:4-6, 1 Cor 12:28, 1 Pet 2:6-9, Acts 20:28, Lk 22:29-20, 1 Cor 11:23-29, Jn 6:51-59, 2 Cor 5:18-19, Jn 20:21-23, Mt 18:18:19:4-6, 3:11, 28:18-20, He wanted everyone to be His One True Church, not break away. Eph 2:19-22, 4:4-6, Jn 10:16 & 17:20-26.

I’ve driven past a few of Osteen’s billboards when I’ve been in Houston, and his church building a few times. Still not sure what people see in him. More of a “Mattress Mack” gal after learning more about the guy and all he’s done for the Houston area. Especially since he started from little and built his way up. Plus, his deals on furniture whenever a local or state team is up for some type of championship is always fun to follow. 😂 let’s go Cougars!

I wonder what the teaching of the Catholic church is on slander...actually, I don't have to guess. It is the same thing that Joel teaches on Sunday. It is the same thing that is taught in virtually every homily at any Catholic parish. Just like many Catholic homilies, you can get what Joel teaches online for free. If you intend to make up stories about what people said or did, you need to examine your heart and ask why you do that.

Houston is considered one of the most diverse, fast growing cities in the USA. People in general have the “true authentic southern hospitality”. The whole state of Texas is like no other , beautiful, vast and unique! I’m proudly a Texan by heart , although I wasn’t born here. Lakewood Church is at the Stadium where the Basketball team (The Rockets) used to play. Joel Osteen is “an institution” here, very charming , charismatic and above all - a business man. Lastly, you’re always welcome in Houston!! Pax et bonum 🙏🏼

Maybe they were just on their guard a little bit? People can pick up on the intentions of other people well just by listening to their tone and word choice. In any case, it seemed like the operators answered sincerely and respectfully, in spite of the tone. By the way, there are some amazing online Catholic homilies that address slander. You might be surprised how similar Joel's talks are on the same topic, but you don't have to take my word: Joel gives most of his ideas online for free.
