Seeing this test ha converted me. Being from England, the image of muscle cars is lazy, roll-prone boxes, but seeing this car go around those hill roads and then shoot out of the corners with that awesome noise really impressed me.

I have spent my life making other people happy so I finally did something for myself. And your love of cars brought mine back out. Thank you very much. I haven't had a lot of joy in my life so your videos made me think about what gives me some happiness. I wish I lived closer because I would love to ride along while you drive my 1LE. Also, too, this is not like me and I hesitated. So, thanks too for talking about value with these cars. The 1LE, ZL1 and Z/28 are so much better than the early 5th gen cars from a chassis dynamics standpoint. Matt's comments reminded me of the time I took a ride with him at SEMA (2010 or 2011) in a ghetto modded Camaro SS "Firebreather" or something like that. Despite the blown LS3, it had a hideous taxi-cab-yellow paint job and rattled like a 20 year-old car. The 6th gen looks promising. Keep up the good work Farah.

***** slightly better, but only in a vacuum. Drive one back to back against anything else, especially at a race track, and they are pigs. All I can remember about that car on a track was how artificially heavy the controls felt, how un-bolstered the seat was, the vibrations through the shifter, and the general sense of clunkiness. It's a 5/10 car. If you drive at 5/10ths all the time, they are fine, but the faster you go, the worse they get. A BRZ feels like an Ariel Atom after getting out of a Z.

I had a 2013 Mustang GT. It was great for driving to work and getting groceries, as well as being a tad bit faster in the 1/4 mile. I traded in for a 2014 1LE and it's great for spirited weekend driving. It feels a lot more planted around turns and higher speeds, where the Mustang would get me white-knuckled above 80mph. I can leisurely one-hand the steering wheel in the 1LE at 120mph. Each has their pros and cons. Headroom in the 1LE is a joke though. It's literally the only reason I could eventually see myself selling the car over.

The 1LE is only around 2two Gs over the stock SS! And when compare to the Mustang GT w the performance pack(around the same money as the 1LE package) The SS is something approaching 2 seconds faster around longer tracks! So as far as the options themselves, the 1LE works better! An aftermarket performance two plate clutch would be helpful. The cat and cams are death penalty offenses in California(according to a reputable cam company I've spoken to)!

Brandon Cawley I'd rather the Mustang. The Camaro is better in a few areas, but where the Mustang falls short (i.e. Springs, tires) it's easy to change, whereas the areas the Camaro falls short (interior, visibility), are much harder to get around.
@3rdGenGuy9 жыл бұрын
Brandon Cawley we will have to wait a few months for the 2016 SS.I assume the interior will be greatly improved.

These 1LE, I was always curious how do they stack up against the Z28 and Boss302. It definitely sounds nice but that because of the headers he said he put on. Great OneTake-- kind of hoping you interview a Boss302 pretty soon but I'm sure you've driven it.
@TheSmokingTire9 жыл бұрын
Elephant The Boss 302 is lighter, has better visibility, more interior room, and makes a better sound with a freer revving engine. The Camaro is a more settled rear suspension over bumpy roads. The Z28 is completely on another level, and is basically a thinly veiled race car for the street, and priced accordingly. There is no practical reason to buy a Z28, whereas in many parts of the country a ZL1, 1LE, or Boss 302 would make an acceptable daily driver.

Hey Matt, how would you compare this to the ATS performance turbo?. I ask you this because I have been thinking on modding my ATS to about 400hp/tq, but I can also get a Mustang GT PP or a 1LE instead. What is your take on this?, mod the lighter car or buy one of the two?.
@DaDon_krazy8 жыл бұрын
nun but a big boat. matt the lust for a gt350 is very admirable. lol camaro cant compete with it.
@ThisGuyDrives8 жыл бұрын
What's really sad about this comment is you have to compare a 350 with a Camaro SS. The 15 GT with track pack lost by nearly 2 seconds to a 15 1LE!!! A base model $37k 2016 Camaro SS barely loses to a base 350 (that you can't get for under $60k for a $50k car). The 17 1LE is going to easily beat the base 350 for $43k. The next Z/28 is going to destroy the 350R and again, for much less money, considering you can't get a 350R for under $120k these days. You fanboys think the 350R is faster than a 5th gen Z/28 thanks to Motor Trend doing 1 lap. What's funny is the 350R did an un-official time of 7:32 on a dry track for the Ring. The Z/28 officially did 7:37 on a WET track. What did it do un-officially on a dry track? 7:32!!!! Like I said, the 6th gen Z/28 is going to destroy that overpriced 350R. The next GT500 won't be any different either. The last one couldn't put the power down or corner for shit and it was over priced at $95k at my local dealership.

Great car, my friend had one. I'm not a fan of it though b/c A. In SCCA autoX it's not much faster than the regular SS (the magnetic ride is what makes the ZL1 so damn fast, and this doesn't have it :(), and B. It's the size of a battleship and kind of cumbersome to drive around the city. Still a great car, though. Love 1LE owners: Only there you can find statements like: "It has the knuckles off the ZL1, but the brakes are off the 2SS, but the HARDWARE for the brakes is off the Z28", and the owners know ALL of it, lol.

Certainly sounds nice, would be interesting to see it against an uprated E92 M3 on track.

Can't believe someone gave you the finger Matt.. The nerves of some people these days. You even tried letting him by.

I have 2012 Boss 302, the 1LE wasn't available when I got my Boss. Were I buying today, the 1LE would get a long look.
