I'm stuffed! Made two pkgs of gizzards and hearts using this method... couldn't stop eating and now I gotta put some extra time on the treadmill! I didn't have sour cream so I substituted Greek yogurt in the dipping sauce. I think it still came out great cuz that bowl is empty too! Thanx for a great recipe for gizzards!!

My mom used to put chopped chicken gizzards in her giblet gravy for Thanksgiving. I used to buy fried gizzards and livers at KFC and it was delicious! Great job.

Exactly how my Mom would fix her gravy. I don't know why kfc/popeyes stopped selling the fried livers. Thats what I would buy from them.

Yep. Old school holiday gravy for sure. I wish KFC would bring livers and gizzards back. Maybe one day.

back when i was in my twenties, the last couple day before payday would get kinda lean.....and the food of the lean days before payday was potatoes and ramen noodles....but if things were doin ok, there would also be chicken gizzards on the menu.....i would geek them up with oil, hot sauce, pepper and salt and they were excellent

I'm italian and make gizzards a lot. First I cut them up into bite size pieces. Put them in a skillet with a large thinly sliced onion, hot pepper flakes, a few tablespoons of pasta sauce, a little bit of water, salt & pepper. Cover and let simmer for at least an hour. The onions "dissolve" leaving a rich sweet gravy perfect for dunking a crusty piece of bread. The gizzards are tender with a delicious meaty flavor.

I’m so glad SOMEBODY did it right this is how my grandma showed me how to make them ! Boil them first bc nobody wants them to be tough!💯🫶🏾
@adnacraigo65902 ай бұрын
It doesn't matter to me whether or not they are tender. I probably also would have eaten them right out of the pressure cooker. I usually just open the package from the grocery store, check them for yellow skin , dust them with seasoned flour and fry them in whatever oil or lard that I have on hand. You have a good system there so I am sure that yours are better.

I’m from Tallahassee. We had a restaurant named Lindy’s where you could get steamed or fried gizzards. You would have to call in your order at the one on the southside or they would be sold out when you got there. That’s where I learned how to get the gizzards tender.

I love gizzards so much! My dad used to make stew out of it and it was one of my favorite meal growing up. I actually eat gizzards a lot because in my location in Europe we like to eat organs too :) Duck gizzards are delicious as well! I often fry chicken liver but I've never ever had fried gizzards 😏I need to try this! ❤Thank you Queen ❤

I love fried gizzards. I would use the insta pot method or boil them for dressing. I always tenderize my gIzzards in a Ziploc bag and beat it with a glass vinegar bottle or something similar to that. I don't prefer using eggs, just a good thick coat of all purpose flour. I love hot sauce, a lil mustard and ketchup on my gizzards.
@CamirrasKitchen2 ай бұрын

@akademikz232 ай бұрын
I've never made chicken gizzards but she may be on to something. I'm a chef and usually egg makes the breading puff up, it will taste more "fried" and crispy without egg. You should experiment with some baking powder in the mix too :)@@CamirrasKitchen

One of my favorites. Thank you. We also use chopped gizzards in our rice dressing sometimes. I think I'll try doing them the way you did in the instant pot first and add them after next time I do it. Then use the broth to cook the rice instead of plain water. Thanks again.

A substitute for a large paper bag to bread your meat you can always use the vegetable produce bags from the grocery store. Sometimes the fancy stores have the thicker ones. When I go to the store I typically stock up on the produce bags for free when I'm getting my vegetables I'll take a few extra. You can also just use a gallon Ziploc bag.

Oh another thing. I've been pot frying with a thermometer my whole life but recently my gf bought me a good tabletop deep fryer because I was way to cheap to Make the investment myself. I'll tell you what, there's no going back! Deep fryers regulate the heat so much better and produce a far superior product! Ditch the pot and oil!
