Put down 240rwhp and 249rwtq. Still had stock heads. Ran a best of 14.1 @ 93. Would've seen 13's, but started to have tranny issues and never got back to the track before geting rid of it...

You're right...I should've bought a GT and spent that money to try and be as quick as a Cobra. Or I could've bought a Cobra, modded it, and been as fast as a Shelby!? It was never about comparison for me. Just the joy and experience of being able to mod and learn about my favorite car, Mustang. Thanks for watching!

@@sixstanger00 Ive seen enough m112, centri, and nx kit combos hardly breaking 260whp for me to justify a 6 build. Especially considering my NPI went 13s for less than 150$ in mods.

That's funny because the guys who say you should have bought a gt get told the same thing by cobra guys it's like a shit hierarchy and us v6 guys are at the bottom but I couldn't have said it better it's all about pride in what you have and work on

Theres no point in this. Results are predictable and there will never be a busy aftermarket. Worse, durability is nearly zero. Only purposeful reason for this project I can see is for a 16 to 24 year old ins. premiums which are much lower for a 6cyl than a GT.

@@angelobovara317 the v6 are still more reliable engines over the 4.6. Plus i can buy v6 mustangs all day long for 500 running and driving in most cases. Have fun with them and then put an ls in it if i want to go fast and be even more reliable lol.

This car had an 8.8" rear in it out of a GT with 3.90 gears and the stock t-lok. I left plenty of stock to mild bolt on GT's behind me with this little sixxer. And even though that wasn't my goal, it was still fun to do. My only goal with this car was to have fun, learn, and meet cool people along the way. All three goals were achieved, and this car will always be one of my favorites. Even next to my 450rwhp 89 GT.

My NPI traps 100mph and was rated at 215hp. What shows his trans was really messed up was his 93mph trap. He should be trapping closer to 100 with that power and had he did, he would have gotten in the 13s easy. Shows that the v6 was putting out some steam on that pass.

I own a turbo mach 1. I think this car is sick as hell. It's a new edge with work done to it to make it unique. That's what makes these cars special. You can't go out and buy this like you can a 5.0, or a scat pack or whatever. New edge mustangs have a special place in my heart and this car fits right into it.

My 3 v6 mustangs were an epiphany for me . The simplicity and lightness was the greatest measure . That lazy pushrod motor was so rewarding ...add to that the T5 and just rowing through the gears . Adding a cam and dual exhaust was a great motivation ....even better was adding a panhard bar and torsen lsd . People dont realize the beauty of the base 3.8 because it was so dumped on .

That's exactly what I've been saying to people. The lightweight plus the simplicity and the fact these were always the best selling Mustangs and less ragged out means they are the best bang for the buck out there right now for a nice hopped up ride. I got an 02 V6 5 spd I've been working on and right now still in repair/restoration stage before I can even mod it and I can't wait!

Hey man, sweet car! I've got an 03 V6 that is my pride and joy. I don't have the cash to do any engine/drivetrain mods right now (college... yeah), so I'm focusing on making it look pretty. I love to see things like this and I can't wait until I can do some work under the hood!! We V6 guys get a lot of hate, but these cars can do a lot

Props!!! I love it when people build v6's. Everyone always gets their panties in a twist about having the fastest car... its about having a good time and enjoyiing the challenge. making a v6 faster is very respectable and more unique in my book.

Thanks! And why not? It might not be as powerful as a modded v8, but it was still a fun car. It was my first Mustang and I practically had it handed to me. Everything just happened from there.

@JamesHartman7 Got the cam and springs/retainers from Tom at SSM. about $750 for all that, then add in all of the new gaskets I needed, fluids, and a few parts I replaced during the install. Pretty sure I easily put at or slightly over $1,000 into the cam install. And yes, it was most definately worth it! Ran awesome times at the track and the sound caught people's attention everywhere I went. Especially when they found out it was a sixxer.

No I didn't order any of my parts through them. Basically all online. Only went to them for the SCT tuner and custom tune. Love that shop! And sorry, but this car has been gone since September of 2010.

@ToneCityGraphix1 I don't remember how much it was exactly. You can check out SuperSixMotorsports website for prices. And doing the work ourselves saved money. Yes, heads were stock. Cam, valve springs, ported lower and windstar upper intake, cai, u/d pulley, longtubes, off-road h, and flow 40's.

It had an 8.8 rear out of a Mustang GT with 3.90 gears and a limited/slip. Yes, it spins both wheels. No one wheel peels out of this sixxer.

Longtubes are the way to go. Shorties aren't worth it. And I put a list of some of the mods up in the video description for you.

@dejuan71 It also had Windstar upper intake, ported and polished lower intake, off road h pipe, u/d pulley, and the tune was pretty aggressive. And that wasn't smoke coming from the tail pipes. It was just the air from the exhaust kicking up dust.

@dejuan71 Damn, 192? That's a big time loss of 58hp. It is rated at 250 a the crank right? That's like a 23% loss or so...I know Mustangs usually only lose about 15-20%. That would explain what happened last time I drove this car and a 3.5L Charger tried to race me. I felt bad for him because he had a girl in the car. lol. You'll be happy once you get some motor work done man. Really wakes the car up. And find a good tuner. A good tune is important to a car's performance.

@dejuan71 Yea they are 190 at the crank. I was talking about rear wheel horsepower (rwhp) and rear wheel torque (rwtq).

384 to the wheels with a kenne bell blower isn't impressive, bolt on coyotes are pushing more than that. my gt500 is pushing around 580rwhp, but you don't see me being a douche and bashing people with less hp.

No. Cam, Windstar upper intake swap, ported and polished lower intake, Underdrive pulley, longtubes, offroad h pipe, to flow 40 mufflers, and a good tune from Fastlane Motorsports in Benson, NC. I might be missing something. Haven't had this car for a few years now.

@minicobra01 The tune is very important. The tune on this car was pretty aggressive. And it was also dynoed in nice cool weather. A lot of things come into play. Plus I'm pretty sure stroking these sixxers out to a 4.2 doesn't really add a lot of power. I'm running similar to numbers to most people with a 4.2.

Yea I didn't notice any real difference with the u/d pulley at all. But a little less drag on the engine couldn't be a bad thing. Te Windstar swap however, is totall worth it! Felt a difference right away and even before the tune. They flow much better, and it would have been awesome if I would've kept the car and followed through with my turbo install. Honestly, I think the appearence aspect alone makes the windstar worth it. lol. Those stock 3.8 manifolds are hideous.

A Bullitt is a GT. It even has the GT badges on the side to prove so. It only has some slight differences over a stock GT.

You mean 3.8? I have a short modification list in the description. You can take some tips from that. And suspension is very important if you plan on racing. And what type of suspension setup depends on what type of racing you're in to. This car with those mods and a turbo would have been a quick little car. Check out some V6 Mustang forums and see what people are doing.

No not at all. I was teaching myself how to work on my Stang when I did it. It came with step by step instructions from the website. I think you can go on there and download them if you want to look them over. If you're not comfortable doing it then you'll be better off having someone else do it.

Sorry, but I don't remember the specs of the cam. It's been a few years that this car has been gone. And the only thing changed along with the cam was the valve springs. Everything else was stock.

@minicobra01 I had more than just a cam. I had p&p lower, windstar upper, u/d pulley, and longtube headers to an off-road h.The only thing I needed was a set of p&p heads. With p&p heads I was hoping to make 250+rwhp. Never got around to doing it though.

Ill give you a link to mine when I get it tuned. I'm in the process of tearing it down ATM. But Ill have Heads, lower, windstar, 42% UDP, LTs, cam, and tuned. Plus 4.10 gears and a short-throw. I hope to put down at least 250rwhp and break into the low 14s.

Not really. There's some modifying that has to be done. Check out VAPauto d o t com. Go to their Windstar swap section. That's where I bought my kit from, and I think they even have a downloadable copy of the installation instructions in there.

TIME FOR BOOOOOOOOST!! A single turbo would work great - as long as you get one thats big enough! Otherwise - go to junk yard - find two cars with turbo 4 cylinder engines and take both turbos! Then find an intercooler from a diesel pickup and you're ready to get your turbo on!!

You're right near 290-300 hp at the crankshaft... YOU WANT BOOST!! I WANT YOU TO WANT BOOST!! Lol do it the cheap way and either get 2 turbos from identical junkyard engines (small diesel turbos are just fine when you use 2 on a V6)... Or get one BIG turbo from a dodge ram Cummins diesel - take that intercooler from the Ram/Cummins also - the only major cost would be an ECU that's programmable (most are)

I just got a 97 mustang a few mos back, 3.8 V6, I'm looking to do some engine work, Exhaust is comin in a few weeks, Dual catback H pipe design, it's just a stock car for now, so far I've dropped $800 fixing what the Mechanics broke on it. but I'm looking at some nice goodies for my car. it will be a cobra clone.

We raced one in a LT1 Z28 it beat is by atleast 6 cars!! I thought it was supercharged or turboed or spray nope tune and a 3.8 stroker to a 4.3

So what are your other mods besides the cams and longtubes? I just dynoed my car stock last sunday now im getting my cams/heads/longtubes put on as we speak. If you type in 2006 charger dyno and change the search to this week or last week. It should come up 3.5 charger dyno or something its a red two toned charger. I have the same smoke coming out my pipes as you do..whats that from?

mimike80 GTs are what 230-250hp?stock my v6 is at 212hp atm but HP doesn't win races torque does it should be 60-80% increase in Tq with the right tune easily 300+ my friends v6 is at 317with a procharger a nice tune so im pretty sure il be making more than stock GTs maybe stock Lt1 Camaro power there at what 265-305?

Stock GTs 4.6 is 260hp. And over 300 lbs of torque. Yup. Like a stock GT. You might pull a little . Dont expect much with no internals. Why waste the money? You could elget a GT and spend 5k and hang with Cobras. There is a complete 4.6 vortech block with forged pistons bore, fuek system, turbo tranny, and a mean ass shift kit for 5k.

Tyler Rogers plus I had plans in throwing a turbo on this car at one point, so was gonna have to go up in injector size anyway.

How much did it run u to run this set up this is wat I wana do a mild mod of a cam with out havin to do so much u say u hit 240 hp wit stock heads? Did u change rollers or anythin like that or just threw a cam and tuned it? I need some help I'd luv to run ur setup lmk thanks

it really sucks it only made that much, i have just bolt ons mac LT mac H no cats egr delete and tune and it dyno'd at 191 rwhp and 228 tq

im thinking of trying Paradox's 07' Freestar Van upper intake swap. seems like the 07 freestar engine has better airflow. he's saying he's getting 258 rwhp on just intake and bolt ons. and then a power adder like meth inject or nitrous inject could bring that number into the 300s. for me 300 on the street is more than enough.

It was a Comp Cam I bought from SuperSixMotorsports website. Specs are in the description. I think it was called the Lumpy Cam.

Not trying to be a smart ass at all. Why did you put all that work in a 3.8 when the 4.6 comes with 260? Im still impressed with it regardless. Did you do this just because you can say you did it?

Just because I worked with what I had. And once I realized what I'd gotten myself into, and actually learned about what working on and modifying a car was about, there was o point to go a different route. It was a fun car to drive around, and got plenty of attention where ever it went. Including Mustang Week,

4.6 makes 260 at the CRANK. His V6 is making 240 AT THE WHEELS. Big difference.

A 99-04 GT puts down between 215-225 whp stock, this cammed v6 put down 240 whp which means it's about 280-290 bhp, this car is about as strong as a 2003 350z nissan.

stephen king There's a vid on YT of a metallic blue SN95 bored/stroked 4.3 V6 that put down somewhere in the neighborhood of 274 hp to the wheels. I'm currently building one myself, and you need look no further than SuperSixMotorsports to see that the weak little 3.8 is actually capable of making big power. I've seen another stroker that was turbo'd making 650+ at the wheels on 17 psi. Bad news for ANY GT :P
