That's why Carolyn is admired: She's fearless! I know we're on wild life's territory, when we camp. I can't help but to think about those who have encountered bears, and met their fate. You'll just never know what mood the animals are in. Carolyn and Sadie, walk around, as if they own the camp grounds. 🤣

Bears are probably less temperamental than campers. Last week I could not believe it I had to "defend" bears from stupid campers. I have hiked those trails alone for a week and a half. Not a bear in sight. Campers show up, bears sighting...they get scared, they call rangers. Ranger feels obliged to try and chase the bear away using small pellets (bb gun type, just smaller). Hello, you are camping in bear food. They close the trails??? I hike these trails every single day and now I am "grounded"?? Actually the tourists hoped they would use LEAD. I am from Texas too but I know, it appears to get along fine with bears. They do not want to meet you, they just want food (no, not you😂)

I purchased a Bluetti 3 years ago (just 1500 watts). I am on the road full time. Doing just fine with 100 watt pannel. Of course I am a minimalist. My minivan is a "hard sided tent" not a house. I will never buy an RV. A bigger van yes in order to accomodate a furry companion and camp in Yellowstone in Winter. For a full size van 3000 Watts will be fine for me. I am very strict about not having unnecessary stuff adding weight and taxing my vehicle in altitude (10, 000 feet plus) especially in summer. I like my cars to remain like new for 30 years😂.

I live in the city. New neighbors special garage appropriated 20 years ago for golf cart storage (his third garage) is 30 feet from my whole living area. He now is running some sort of ...mmm... engine... I think it is a idleing pump of some sort. I am getting used to the sound, but not the weird chemical smell when he uses it with chemicals. sigh. Glad you have found an alternative. And I get notices from the HOA for trying to make a visual barrier (that the neighbor approved) from his work area where he works on antique car finishes.. sigh. If I knew how to drive... I would consider Van life.

Be Very Careful if you encounter several days of bad weather you lose your solar charge. Also in winter you will have less charge time, your Bluetti lost almost half in 2 hours so nights are longer than that. People are being told to expect infinite power out of solar generators but ,sadly, that is not true so keep your generator just in case.

I wouldn't go bear hunting -- because I wouldn't want to find a bear! Good girl, Sadie! My good girl, Orca, sleeps with me on a bed with the headboard pushed up to the window, open for the night breeze. Her early warning senses told her a raccoon (turned out to be a big male) wanted to come in. Orca (kitty, black on top, white on the bottom) leapt onto the window sill, hissed, popped it on the nose, and sent it back to the ground, all before I fully grasped what was happening. Good girl, top predator of the living room! Lots and lots of praise. lol

Bears often will not just run far away. They may run quickly out of sight and then sit and watch. They really can't afford to use the calories to just run and run. Soon they will be trying to put on weight for winter. While riding an atv years ago, a bear ran across the dirt road in front of me. It just went off the road and was watching me. I took a turn into a driveway and it ran across the driveway in front of me again. The bear might have been attracted to something with a strong smell at your site. Black bear attacks seem to be on the rise a little. Like the guy that was sitting by a fire drinking coffee in Arizona and a black bear killed him. Older bears might be more desperate for food. There's also that slight chance that it could have rabies. So it would be best to put your dog on a leash if you know an animal is in the area. Just in case the dog doesn't want to listen to the come command while it's in a excited state of mind.

How about a twist to it all and start a totally new and different project - like tour the world.. Whether you do it in an RV or fly, touring the world and staying in different countries for some length of time (rather than quick turn arounds), and immersing in their culture … Would that be something you might want to do next ? Sorry if this is a stupid question but what do you mean by plugging the Bluetti into “the wall” to charge it - at an electric hook up? (If there is no sun) I’m thinking about buying an older Class B RV without a generator, and they are noisy anyway, so looking at options. You said you ran it for an hour with A/C and it used up 50%, so does that mean the longest you could run your A/C would be 2 hours? Not all nite? Thanks

There is no way I could afford the ones you showed today, but I am glad they are coming up with more and more choices. I've been trying to talk the other half into investing in a bluetti system. Enough to power our necessities during a power outage that could last a few days. I mean I could plug it in and charge it up on off peak time and have it ready to go. The way our power company has had issues lately, and a lot of outages in areas even in good weather, it seems like something we could use. But we live in a condo and the solar panels would not be approved. The plugging in and powering up would work for us though.

I am on the road for 2 reasons: hiking and photography. When you are alone in nature animals come to you they are curious. I had a coyote not even a yard away. But bears are shy and very risk averse. 3 years hiking in bear country alone on trails with bear tracks and not a single bear encounter. Bear attacks are a people problem. Would be campers are so ignorant having done no research these people are a danger to bears and people like me. Thankfully bears are smarter than them.
